"I am going to kill you."
Usually when people get their first pet, a majority of the time it gives a very therapeutic feeling. You go to the pet shop, or the shelter- or wherever you're getting the pet, you bring them home, make them feel welcomed, build a companionship- all that good stuff.
Unless you're Caroline, in that case it was not a pet store, or a shelter, or the side or the road for that matter.
No, you get your prestige little furry bundle of hell from the bottom of a wishing well- literally, in a unlikely predicament, and you ruin your 1500 limited edition Saint Laurent Tote that you got for your 14th birthday a month prior.
Sometimes having a heart that is bigger than your allowance can really cost you.
Caroline found the little shit running around and trying to scrape the stone walls of the wishing well, desperate to escape. She would be lying if she said she didn't think about leaving it there, but then reality settled in and she realized it would be haunt her for the rest of the week.
She remembers the day vividly, recalling that she searched around the tree infested area looking for something that could pull the feline out.
Successfully stumbling upon a large tree branch , it was only minutes before she dipped the branch inside the well and was able to get the cat to latch on, slowly pulling it out to safety. Caroline let a small sigh of relief and a sense of accomplishment sizzled inside her.
Well- that was until the black cat jumped to fast and knocked the nude bag into the well.
The world has never felt that much rage since Persephone's mother found out she was kidnapped by Hades until that very day.
Thoughts of throwing the little beast back into the well filled the mind of Caroline rapidly, but she quickly Calmed herself and started to make her way back home.
And ever since then, the cat never left Caroline's side, as much as Caroline was hesitant in the beginning, she eventually grew into the routine of having a cat, and they grew closer throughout the years.
Now here Caroline was, twenty-three years old, living in the historic town of Salem, in a small cottage home, former Miss Salem Falls, Former Head Captain Cheerleader, Sponsor for the "Bleed Green" recycling organization, Event coordinator-in training... and now she adds 'cat lady' to her resùme.
A relationship isn't even on the table at the moment, she was possibly going through the idea that she could be lesbian.
But all that to the side, her main focus was wondering how fast she can strangle a cat and hide the body before the smell of the corpse started to fill the house.
The house was in literal shambles, the cushions were ripped apart, tea was spilled on the counter, Caroline was very sure that the cat food that was lying on the middle of the floor, was once in the stomach of the furry little beast.
The black cat- Rina As Caroline calls her, was bouncing off the walls, literally. The blonde chased her all around the perimeter, throwing all kinds of silly death threats. To anybody who was watching, they would be sure she was an escapee from the insane asylum.
"I don't get it! Why must you be a nuisance?!" The blonde finally caught the cat after cornering her in the bathroom.
"I should throw you in a cold ice bath for causing all this mess" she sneered at the cat, as if it would respond. To be honest.. she wouldn't be surprised if it did. The cat acts like it's been a human before.
The cat began to wiggle furiously in her arms, wondering if she would make good on that threat, but luckily Caroline just set the cat on the floor inside her room and shut the door.
"I don't get it, every time those weirdos next door come back, you act like you have no home training." Consider it ironic, since she was found in a well after all. Rina could be heard scratching the door on the other side. "Uh huh, you stay in there until you learn not to go beserk!"
Caroline made her way outside to water the rest of the lillies that were on her porch. From across the street, she could see the big Mikaelson Manor. She always thought of her neighbors as the Addams family, something about them was just plain weird, and they gave an essence of death.
Multiple months at a time, they would leave their manor, all 4 of them, something like a vacay- a vacay definitely sounds amazing right now- she thought to herself. From her porch, she saw a female with long blonde hair talking to a man in a grey suit.
To Caroline, she always saw suit guy and the blonde more than the other two, but whenever they would always leave, it was together and would came back as one. Ironically enough, they moved here soon after Caroline rescued Rina, but every time they are settled in their manor and not on a trip, Rina would just absolutely lose it.
"Hey Caroline!" The blonde lifted her head up to see her friend, Davina, making her way towards her. Davina was the closest thing she had to a best friend ever since moving to Salem, her and her old friends in Virginia grew apart as the years went on, and the only one she still kept in touch with was Stefan, he would visit occasionally.
"Did you bring the stuff?" The blonde inquired.
"Well geez, usually when people are greeted, they greet the greeter back!" Davina snarled, moving her hands to demonstrate her words. Caroline couldn't help but laugh.
"I'm sorry! But when was the last time girls night was in full effect, and on top of that, I have a She-devil beast in my home destroying everything she touches!"
"Caroline, you and that cat have the weirdest relationship a girl can know."
"But I see that the Gallagher family is back!" The brunette continued. Caroline eyed the Manor as could've sworn the blonde was looking intently on the two friends as they spoke.
"Trust me, if this was an episode of shameless, then the family would have burnt the house down by now. I still remember the night one of them flew out the window and acted as if nothing happened!" Caroline exclaimed, remembering the night of one Halloween, she swore she saw one of the men in the house fly out the window with excessive force and get up like it was nothing- or maybe it was crack.
The girls laughed and made their way inside, Davina being a doll and helping sweet Caroline with the mess around the house.
"I think we should bring them pastries!"
"Davina, shut up."
"Think about it! Being neighbors for 9 years and the closest encounter we have had was when that incident with Rina"
"Rina will destroy my entire room if we bring that up Davina, I rather have my pillow in one piece, not several." The blonde tried to argue.
"It's called hospitality. We can make those delicious cheesecake brownies! Who doesn't love cheesecake in brownie form?"
"And what exactly do we get out of it?"
"well for one, they're all hot." Davina said with a grin on her face. Caroline couldn't help but laugh.
"Fine. But you're knocking!"
