Chapter 85: Hero Killer Arc, part. 7; The Killer Arrives. Act 1
It was another day full of different activities for Gar. From a short photo shoot to three public appearances and even a few more interviews that ranged in time! From all the walking, posing, smiling, and interacting Gar was beat! After such a long day that went from first thing in the morning to straight at nightfall, Gar collapsed right into his seat on the bullet train.
One of their last destinations of the day took them to one of the farther sides of Japan, and since no limo could make the trip, a train would have to do. Gar wasn't famous or rich enough to afford a private airway ticket.
Luckily since it was one of the last trains of the night, there weren't many people around, and the few that were there didn't pay him any mind. So he sat and spread out into three different seats with his arms and legs spreading all around and his head leaning as far back as he could. Photo sat in the seat next to his limbs and typed away at her phone, planning this and that out for the days ahead.
Gar, clothed in his Ghost Type outfit, blew out a raspberry and stressed, "Boy, what a day! If I never see another camera or answer another repeated question, it'll be too soon!"
"You did good today, Gar.", Photo praised him in a calmer tone than she normally did.
Gar makes a happy yet satisfied sigh as he replies, "Well, thanks for that. I just can't wait to get home and-.", Before he could make that wish, he heard someone call his name.
"Gar?", He heard a familiar voice say as he brought his head up, only to see a familiar face staring back at him from across the train.
"Izuku?", He asks back in shock but joy.
"Brat.", An old man commented next to Izuku.
"Some geezer?", Gar asks, not having seen the old man.
"Geezer!", The old man yells back in anger.
"Gran Torino.", Izuku says his name nervously, as if trying to keep him calm.
"Gran Torino?", Gar repeats the name.
"Gran Torino!", Photo exclaims in excitement.
"Photo?", Gar asks the woman, confused by how she knew.
"Photo.", The old man grumbles her name.
"Rotom!", Rotom shouts while flying from Gar's pocket.
A heavy awkward silence sets in around them before Gar shouts, "Rotom!", And shoves his phone back into his pocket.
"Brat, how do you know this bigger brat?", The old man, Gran Torino asks Izukum
"Photo, how do you know this old fart?", Gar asks the woman beside him.
"Gar is my friend. Did I not mention that?", Izuku tells him carefully, as if trying not to set him off.
Photo waves her hand coyly and explains, "Oh Gran Torino and I go way back! He was the first person I worked with! Though he never got very popular."
Gar gets a good look at the old man firsthand. He's short….which is an understatement. He's also very cranky looking. Grey hair, wrinkles, worry marks, liver spots, and a beard to match a wooden cane. He wears a white bodysuit with yellow oversized gloves and boots that have holes on the bottom, a yellow belt with the letter G on it, a black mask, and a yellow oversized cape with a puffed-up collar. To Gar, he just looked like some crotchety old man that was probably crazy.
Gran Torino grunts at her explanation and shoots back, "That's because you're nuts!"
Gar then realizes something at that moment, and with a horrified expression, he asks in a soft yet dead serious tone, "Photo, I'm gonna be serious right now. How old are you!?"
Photo ponders on this for a minute and says back, "Let's see…..in three months I should be turning-."
Before she could answer something crashed and broke through the side of the train! All eyes were on the spot where glass shattered and metal broke as a huge monster broke through it like tinfoil! It was muscular with pale-green skin, an exposed brain with four eyes on it, and ripped trousers going up to its calves. Its mouth sprang open and many tongues came out!
"A MONSTER!", Photo screamed in fright alongside the other passengers who were freaking out.
"A Nomu!?", Gar exclaimed in shock and confusion.
"Get behind me!", Gran Torino suddenly commands as pushed Gar in the back while jetting forward.
With one swift aerial movement, he kicked the creature so hard on the side of its head that not only did its tongues stop growing, but its neck snapped and it was forced out of the train, down to the tracks far below a bridge they were going over!
The old man lands to a crowd of flabbergasted people as he asks, "Is everyone alright!?"
"Yeah, thanks.", Gar says back in amazement as a few people clap and cheer for the old man.
"I can't believe you killed that thing in one hit!", Photo exclaims in adulation.
Gar then quickly looks out the hole and sees Nomu running away with a sideways head. He sucks in the air and corrects her, "Oh, never mind, it's still kicking."
Suddenly someone on the train shouted, "The tracks!"
Gar quickly took a peak towards the front and saw that the tracks in the bridge had been completely demolished and they were headed straight for it!
Gar wasted no time in throwing out a PokeBall and calling, "Go Alakazam!", The strange-looking Psychic type appeared and Gar didn't even go through the theatrics, immediately touching his mega stone and calling, "Now Mega Evolve!"
A flash of light and a sphere formed around the Pokémon before breaking open and revealing the new Mega Alakazam! As Mega Alakazam its mustache turns white and becomes longer and bushier. It also grows a long, white beard. The armor-like sections become bulkier, and its upper body section becomes slightly shorter to reveal its thin stomach. The ear-like spikes become slightly shorter and a larger spike forms on top of its head. Additionally, it gains an oval, red organ in the center of its forehead. The organ is said to emit psychic power. Its lower legs become longer and slimmer and its feet become skinnier and resemble talons. It gains three additional spoons, for a total of five that it levitates in the air.
With a thrust of his arm, he commands, "Stop the train with Psychic!"
Alakazam does as told and uses its heightened psychic prowess to cause the breaking system to activate and the inertia of the train to be canceled out! All of this culminated in the train being quickly yet gently hauled long before the destroyed section of the bridge.
Everyone even Gar all started to breathe heavily from holding it in and everyone else's began to clap and cheer for him!
Now it was Gran Torino's turn to be flooded as he stated in amazement, "In all my years I've never seen anything like that!"
Gar was doubled over from breathing so hard, and had to wipe the drool from his mouth as he said, "And I don't think you will. There's nothing like a Mega Pokemon.", He then collects his bearings and commands his Pokemon, "Okay Alakazam, get everyone safely off this train."
Alakazam nods and uses its power once more it found all the people on the train, picked them up, and forced all the doors open to gently float them out and onto the ground.
Once they were on the ground, several people called the police and a dozen squad cars were on the scene in minutes. When things were settled and statements were being given out, Gar regrouped with Photo Finished, Izuku, and Gran Torino after they have their statements. Where Photo immediately yelled in horror, "What in the world was that thing?"
"That was an artificial creature known as a Nomu.", Gar told her.
"Well, whatever that thing is, we gotta get outta here!", she exclaimed while grabbing his arm and trying to pull him away, but he yanked himself away from her.
"Good, get yourself to safety, Photo.", he told her while turning around to talk with the two heroes.
Photo looked shocked at his decision and ran in front of him to exclaim in rejection, "What?! Don't honestly tell me you're gonna fight those things!?"
Gar sighs in aggravation at her refusal to let him go and informs her, "I've fought them before, so I know what we're up against! And besides, if they're here then there's a chance that Tomura guy is also lingering around. If there's a chance I can catch him, then I'm gonna take it!"
"But you're not even a hero!", she argued back.
This time he sighs in amusement and tells he softly, "Hasn't stopped me from doing the right thing before.", Photo is taken aback by this and is almost flustered, but she snaps out of it and leaves after Gar tells her firmly, "Now go! I'll contact you later."
Photo finally conceits and just before she leaves, she tells him, "Don't do anything rash."
"Rash is my middle name.", Gar jokes as the woman playful slaps his arm.
With Photo leaving with the rest of the civilians, Gar finally turns to the two heroes as Gran Torino inquires, "So what do you know about these monsters, bigger brat."
Gar takes out Rotom, and the phone floats up to the old man pulling up a pic and some info about the Nomu that they fought back against at the USJ.
"Their artificial creations, and from what I just saw, they can be made in many different ways. The one I and Izuku fought was supposed to be a counter to All Might. Super Strength and Durability, Shock Absorptions, and Regeneration. I assume they all share some of those things.", Gar tells him while making a theory of his own.
"Like that Nomu with the tongue, the one Gran Torino kicked and broke its neck. It got up after that and before where it broke through metal and glass, then dropped from high up. It seems Durability is one key component.", Izuku added in his hypothesis.
Gran Torino nods in affirmation of this and sums up, "So hit 'em harder than I normally would and make sure they stay down and watch out for any surprise addition. Got it.", Gar sweat drops in the awkwardness of his grossly oversimplified version of things. He then tells Izuku, "Now listen brat, this is far too dangerous for you just yet. Work on getting the civilians to safety and nothing else! You've improved quickly over the last few days, but you lack experience and finesse with your quirk."
"Yes sir.", Izuku replied, but Gar could hear the disappointment laced in there.
Just before he jetted off, Gran Torino looked back at Gar and asked him, "And what are you gonna do bigger brat."
Gar smiles at this and tells him, "Provide muscle and support.", that said he grabs several different PokeBalls off his belt and throws them out, calling each one by name, shouting, "Machamp, Barbaracle, Pangoro, Beware, Hariyama, get ready to brawl!"
Several large and very powerful-looking Pokemon emerged from the light and let out their cries while flexing their instead strengths. Gran Torino looks pleased with this and uses his quirk to practically fly off towards the city that was now in a state of chaos.
"There are Nomu all around the city! Protect the people and take the Nomu down!", he firmly told the Pokemon like a general, lined up before him like troops. He then told them in no uncertain terms, "These things aren't alive in any way, so no holding back!"
Machamp cracked her knuckles, excited at the prospect of having a rematch after she beat down, and with no restraints. Barbaracle sharpened his hand-like arm heads, sending sparks all around. Pangoro flicked up it's finger while flexing its bamboo stalk, showing off it's bravado at a brawl. Hariyama took a stance before thrusting out it's arms, practicing its moves in preparation. And Beware did nothing except looked happy to be there and wiggle its arms.
With nothing left to say, the Pokemon all dispersed to hunt down and take down the Nomu. Gar also took his point to leave, having Mega Alakazam use its power to lift him.
Just before leaving, he held out his hand to Izuku and said, "Come on Izuku, let's protect the city."
Izuku looked down at the hand, then looked back up at Gar while smiling at him and grabbing it. The psychic power transferred over to him and lifted him into the air. With that, the two of them floated through the sky with the Mega Pokémon, headed off to the middle of the town to help out the people. Fully unknowing that another event was taking place amongst all commotion.
Hey everyone hope you guys enjoyed the many short chapters I put together. Since I didn't want to draw out this arc for too long I decided to make it shorter in terms of word count and amount of chapters. Also I put out this many so you guys could have something to wait. I plane to do something like this with Drageria, and then another chapter for Elysium before going back to this. So just be patients.
