You

I've always watched you from the corners.

Day by day, night by night, your every movement is watched.

I used to loathe the failure of your ability to be perfect, I scrutinised the meaning of existence and wondered why things were the way it was.

You couldn't bear to hurt any living creature that walks the earth. Your own father saw you lower than your sibling and I pitied your position.

I pitied your never-ending efforts to please everyone. Your self-defeating posture and timid nature, your chosen preference to stay away from the limelight, you were known as the weak heir to the clan.

I pitied the way fate worked out life for you.

Until one day, it took a tumble in my pride and a good knock to my brain to finally see the truth of the situation.

I had defied the promised word to protect you.

The promise to my late father.

Despite everything, you forgave. That is your strength; your compassion for the people is what defines the meaning to be human.

Perhaps I was all along the pitiful one that lived in a self-enclosed cage when I could've use these hands to define my own way of living.

To my hatred and pent-up emotions, you were the innocent doll that took the brunt of my anger.

But now, you are my guiding light.

The means to a new way of living a life.

To soar above the clouds with the rest of free nature.

Your soft disposition will find its way into the hearts of the people because maybe some human compassion is what we need.

With time, you've grown to be a lady of elegance and grace. You now stand more assured of yourself, but your feet never once left the ground. Your dressing is to tradition but your views in meetings is revolutionising the way our family functions.

You've come far from your younger days, no longer the fragile ornament on the shelf, you stand tall and I'm proud to be standing beside you.

I also notice you smile more these days.

It lights up the room.

It lights up my heart.

I find warmth in your voice.

I bask in the comfort of your presence when we have tea.

Your laughter helps to unwind the stress from the missions.

I believe I finally know what bliss is.

You.
