The Dark Side of the Moon

Prologue

The moon shined bright in the night sky as it loomed over Camp Half Blood. Smiling Selene laid upon a patch of grass near the camp. She found herself watching over the demi children with delight.

Sitting up she looked down to the lake where her faithful watcher Percy sat on his pier staring at the moon. While she admire the boys commitment she wasn't here to see him today.

A smile formed across her lips when she picked up a rustling sound. Patting the picnic basket by her side her eyes were glued to a shaking bush that refused to stop moving. Her smile grew when she spotted a familiar horse like shadow behind the bush.

"You came I was getting worried you wouldn't show up." Selene said.

Selene grew curious when she didn't receive a reply. So she backed up while keeping her eyes on the shadow.

"Come out here where I can see you." Selene said as she slipped her hand behind her back.

The shadow replied but as it moved closer to the light its centaur like appearance disappeared. For standing in the moonlight stood a figure in a black hooded cloak. Pulling out two daggers the figure threw them in her direction.

Selene's eyes narrowed as she unsheathed her sword just in time deflecting the daggers.

Pulling out a sword from its robe the figure ran toward Selene as she ran towards it. Soon the two of them clashed, they matched each other blow for blow.

Yet as their sword clashed again Selene dropped hers and kicked the figure back as she caught a arrow meant for her heart. Another arrow followed and she caught that one as well. But she wasn't fast enough to catch the third one that pierced the side of her stomach.

At first she felt nothing but seconds later she dropped to her knees when a burning sensation engulfed her.

Selene tried to scream but nothing came out; whatever was on that arrow seemed to have taken away her voice. All she could do was lay there as one of the robed figures picked her up. Closing her eyes and finally giving into the darkness a single tear trickled down her cheek. While she couldn't say a word her mind could only think of one thing.

"….Chiron."
