Fire

By: Anna DeMarco, icedragonkatana

Kurama calmly read from his college textbook as the set outside his bedroom window. Brilliant colors of blood and fire painted his white walls and polished wooden desk. It was a calm atmosphere even after the breeze began to circle the room from the once closed window. His bangs began to lightly blow in the gentle wind as he paused in his reading.

"This is an unexpected surprised after a year Hiei." Kurama lightly smirked, eyes still trained on his book. "May I inquire as to what brings the honor of your visit?"

"Hm. When did you get so long winded?" Hiei replied in a gruff tone. "Hello would have been faster."

"Sorry Hiei." Kurama continued to smirk as he put down his textbook and turned his chair to face the window. "You still haven't answered my question though."

The silence stretched on for several, long minutes in which Kurama took in the changes before him. Though still shorter than most Hiei had gained a number of inches in height and he had given up his cloak. The younger demon wore what appeared to be black combat boots, loose fitting black pants and a dark royal blue tank top. His usual three belts were present, though all were pure black, and his bandana had changed to black.

"I need you to do me a favor, kitsune." Hiei finally spoke, turning blood red eyes on Kurama. "I need you to watch over Yukina for a time."

"Gladly, but why?" Kurama asked, slight confusion sneaking into his tone.

" I must, take care of some matters, and will not be able to see her with even the jegan." The fire demon grimaced even as he spoke. "I am unsure how long I will take."

Kurama merely nodded. Hiei seemed to understand that all was settled and disappeared from the window. Left with only a light breeze for company Kurama began to wonder what his short friend was about to do. There was little point however, since Hiei would only tell what he felt others should know.

'Curiosity will not kill this fox twice.' Kurama thought to himself as he focused back onto the text before him.

AN.

That is all for now. This was meant to be a one shot but I can't finish typing it right now. Two chapters are all this story will have. Thank you for reading this far and please review if you want me to post the rest of this story and it's companion.
