Basic side story of Ami and going Mahou Shojo as promised and the daily lives of the loyal fox and dog guardians of the wind strewn passages.

Heat - Haze Days; Take Two!

/

Tick Tick Tick tick tick.

The clock seemed to mock him, four hours…. ten…. how much longer?

Tick Tick Tick tick tick.

A groan as he fell and leaned into his seat. It had enough space, while the bulky black suit was entirely suffocating to walk in.

He could not stand it….no….

Tick Tick Tick tick tick.

The tapping of his foot, built on a rhythm to dissuade the tycoon from his worst nightmare. He was sweating from his collar down to his suave work shoes.

~ Damn Damn Damn Damn Damn...~

He bit his lip.

Two hours, two minutes? How long! It was just so….

"HOOOT!" Right then, he leaned back to moan out as if at one's limit. Summer, was a disgrace to him and all his kin!

The door slammed back as an annoyed secretary walked in in her heels rioting against the carpet.

"Until they fix the Air duct, concerning –

"I know! But sheesh! Why are we trapped inside during a mile long – blackout? What about the –

"This was from the JLA's unprecedented take down of Braniac; a villain that had made it to our shores before. You defended against his powers, Takahara -San." The woman was fair but smart enough to keep her boss silenced as she explained the situation.

Dark hair and a snobbish yet boyish appearance, we take you to Japan; where the brilliant yet sketchy Takahara Shoji, of Takahara Corp technologies, was being slapped across the face mentally by his assistant and old-time ally Sakurano Ayane. She was the violet haired reincarnate, of a powerful magic user named Lorelai Ainsley from the old world of Spirit world Scotland. She assisted Shoji with his tech company in order to keep Japan safe from those that deemed Shoji's work dangerous to human ears and eyes.

Ayane had a set of folders and a wide tablet in her hands. While Shoji knew her old self Lori as a guardian to the woman in her youth, their relationship bordered on ( an old married couple and a brother sister complex.) Yet, that is another story.

"Heat wave…. Can't we use alchemy to restore –

"NO!" She snapped; Ayane had known of Shoji's temperament long enough to call him a child at times.

The company originally had been of a stricter ruling by the board being against magical intervention, but this crazy character had swiped the prize up from the original founder. He'd later used magic to keep his business from sinking – thus creating a slew of enemies that wanted Shoji's counterpart; the spirit of discord and son of shadow, Veravakumu, to rot behind bars. His only ally was Isa in that other realm's world, who'd gotten Vee this cushy office and this meat - sack vessel "Shoji" that he'd never once seen with even a single wrinkle to his brow.

Magic; in other words, and Ayane despised it in the name of science, for both in tandem was highly taboo on her home plane of existence.

"What about the reactor –

"The company's property has no effect on stopping global climate change. So, sit up and try to be patient…"

She sighed and *slammed* the pile of papers onto the dark-haired dog's desk. He jolted up in his seat.

"Can't we save our work for tomorrow? The heat wave should –

"You do need a shower, but first you have to put you blood, sweat and tears into this progress report." Ayane reprimanded her useless employer with a stern tone. Her violet eyes seemed to bury under his crawling flesh, already about to melt off of his bones by the fact that the fan had stopped becoming effective over an hour ago.

"Heat rises…. WHY do we make office buildings taller, again?" His brow was positively mortal by how he'd REALLY needed a dip. What a child! He furrowed it and looked ready to quack and question the meaning of life.

Ayane frowned. "Your rambling with not distract me, baka!" She spat and left the male to stew. His stunned face was no trouble to the dutiful servant of this incredible "train wreck of a company."

As she shut the door, Ayane could hear a whine from a pup's lips. She shook her head and returned to her desk in the next office down the hall.

Looking into her call history, it seemed like she'd made a slight error in judgement. The units HAD been partly fixed, but should Shoji know? It was a warm walk back to the …. Oh! She switched gears and remembered her personal sorbet "duo" in the mini freezer still in her office. Maybe, they didn't have to fix anything just yet…She smirked and went to see what flavors were there.

Shoji was busy scratching his head and trying to focus on the fact that the jungle and desert had made a new successor to their title.

His office was the new hell on earth.

"Agh…. Congrats, dumb –

The door creaked back as a visitor stepped into the room, her hands clutched the Shangri - la this space was missing.

"Agggin…...darz!" Shoji's face lit up as his tail and ears popped out unexpectedly from the sheer desire to cool off with delicious treats from the local store down the street.

"I love you –

"Ow!"

"When you can afford to propose, but for now? Eat and recover." Ayane plopped the sorbet cup onto his skull, and then into Shoji's waiting hand.

Shoji rubbed his skull and took the gift, graciously. "Thank you, Ayane. You've kept me from a near collapse. Consider that –

"Eat." She commanded and took the first bite of her own coco – lime cup before swooning over the moon at the coldness and texture.

"Mmmmmm! So good! Umaaiii!" She went after a second bite, before succumbing to the unwelcoming trip of "brain freeze." Her face scrunched up like an ugly fruit with her red cheeks and forehead not exactly picture perfect.

"Agk!" She squeaked.

Takahara snickered as Verra watched on from the sidelines.

"I thought you could take the heat?" Shoji took his first bite and soon riled up from the same sensation.

Yowling at the chill he'd been taunted by on such a boring afternoon with a friend, the two started to laugh; kids in the summertime heat, washing away their pain below the waters of the ocean floor.

"Yow!" Another bite, and Verra would call this a temporary a joy ride, instead of brain pain in a split second!
