Disclaimer: This is a non-profit work written for entertainment. All characters that appear in this story are properties of The Pokemon Company and The BBC.

Authors notes: Welcome to The Legend of The Mistress. I'd like to let you know that this is an alternative universe fic with a few creative changes.

Some characters are much younger than in their respective series. Missy appears to be twenty-five and Giovanni is thirty-two.

Secondly, the vast majority of the characters follow their cannons. This story takes place before Missy meets the Twelfth Doctor. Giovanni's story is very much the same until pokemon XY.

The largest of these changes pertains to the creation trio and legendary pokemon. In the story, they have their own dimensions, and artifacts, they occasionally take the form of a human.

In other notes, the author is American. When I started this story I never thought I would have readers from around the world. I do my best to avoid putting in such things as temperature and distance. When I do, I do my best to put the conversions in the writing.

There's a lot of wordplay in this, I do my best to keep the grammar and spelling good. So if you see something off, there might be a reason for it. Thank you for giving this story a chance.

Update: Chapters one through six were updated on March 18th, 2022 for readability and grammar. I've added some contextual dialog to better explain the world and characters. The story itself is unchanged.

The Legend of the Mistress

Missy leered at the navigation screen and growled. The deal hadn't panned out, then the Cybermen had turned against her. Enraged that she was forced to retreat, she pressed on, confident she'd get away.

The Doctor had a nack of disrupting her plans, but he hadn't bothered to go this far before. He usually did something creative or silly to disrupt their plans, this time was different, he simply showed up, then destroyed half of their fleet. Something had put him over the edge, when this was over, she intended to figure out what had done it.

The Cybermen's response was just as logical as it was outlandish. They declared war on the only Time Lords left in existence.

The rumble of gunfire thundered from outside. The tardis shields deflected the attack well, but this couldn't go on forever.

Hastily, she shuffled to the navigation controls. The tardis violently shook with another onslaught of attacks. Unexpectedly, the ship lurched, then dived out of the chaos.

The tardis took her down with it and she slammed into the safety railing. An injury was the last thing she needed at the moment.

Her ribs shifted, then a tremendous pain followed when she stood up. They were starting to close in on her. The fire of cannons rocked the tardis violently.

Instinctively, she took manual control of the ship. Her left hand clung onto what it could and her right index finger gracefully steered with the atom accelerator.

While she navigated the wormhole, her eyes scoured ahead. It seemed as though her luck was about to turn around, she'd hit turbulence in a minute.

Flying through it would be a painful affair, but she'd be able to exit. She bit into her lower lip, then she wrestled with the wormhole the tardis rocked with the tenacity of an earthquake.

As the tardis flew threw the turbulence, the particles of space raged around it like a storm. The element was short-lived, when the ship settled it grew quiet.

Her chest seared in pain when she grabbed the time path detector from above. With great anticipation, she watched the cyber fleet.

Their ship's velocity halved but they remained on the same course. It was enough for her to feel comfortable. She released the controls and let the tardis free spin while she stepped away.

The reprieve was welcome, but would only be short-lived. The Cybermen were notoriously good at finding their enemies. Their calculation in time and precision to detail was known throughout the galaxies. It was only a matter of time before they figured out that she had exited the wormhole.

The stabbing pains in her side were a completely different affair. Missy crossed her arms to numb it, then telepathically engaged the automatic flight controls.

The blue supergiant Rigel was a thousand light years ahead. After a few mathematical calculations and the correct use of navigation, she'd ditch them shortly.

The subtle tremor disrupted her concentration. The rumble reignited the pain in her chest, and it came back with a vengeance.

Then an alert howled through the control room, which forced her to ignore it. The onboard computer warned her that the tardis was being pulled off course.

Despite the pain, she forced herself over to the controls. With the press of a button, the computer ran a flight diagnostic.

Missy grew enraged when she read the report. " That's not possible!"

She stumbled over the controls, then set it to full throttle. With her left hand, navigated the tardis computer.

The tardis shields had deteriorated rapidly. If she failed to regain control of power consumption, she'd be stuck adrift.

The distorted sound of a grand bell methodically chimed throughout the ship. The cloister bell only activated when a disaster was probable. If the computer's report was accurate, her ship was on course.

Components and flight paths meshed with interface troubleshoots, followed by frantic mathematics and more calculations. None of it helped, the shields kept failing. Perhaps a loss in the power supply, when she went to check, the computer had new information.

Recall Circuit Activated

A polygon-shaped warning light flashed from the back of the second panel. The indicator had an inconvenient placement onboard, its activation puzzled her.

In all of her years of flight study, there hadn't been a single report of a failure. The only other way it could have activated was if Gallifrey had called her home, which wasn't possible.

Sharper pains followed more aggravation, she bit her lip and forced the flight controls. It took a lot of effort to fight back the pull, but when the accelerator loosened free, it was over.

The ship started to rock violently, then she lost her balance. The room became a white void, surges of pain burned her insides, then followed by firey bursts of energy. The control room filled with a vibrant amber aura, while her regeneration energy healed her wounds.

After a moment the ship crashed, bounced, and started to roll. The tardis creaked ominously while its momentum started to wane. Then it rested and settled shortly after.

Missy took a few deep breaths, then recanted the day's events. She groaned in frustration the day had only begun.

After she regained her composure she realized the pain had gone. Naturally, her regeneration energy had healed her wounds. The realization delighted her, now she could get a better look at the ship.

The tardis coordinates were flashing rapidly, but her position in time and space was stable. She attempted to take off, then discovered the tardis couldn't de-materialize.

Missy checked the power gauged, then cursed under her breath. The tardis had burned through its temporal energy. That should have been an easy problem to fix. For the time being, at least her ship still functioned.

The exterior cameras had activated, and the world outside was lush and seemed inviting. The tardis had crashed in a forest. Enormous insects fluttered near the crash site.

" Seem's I've arrived at the land of oversized insects. I wonder what else is out there?" Missy muttered as she opened the door.

Sunlight overwhelmed the senses, but her vision quickly adjusted. She was repulsed, a hoard of giant grubs struggled in the mud.

The sky buzzed with the creatures up above. She spotted a few birds, large ladybugs, and white-winged butterflies. It wasn't the worst world to be stuck on.

A butterfly flew away from the party, the insect seemed fearless when he enthusiastically greeted her, " Hello there!"

Missy slammed the door in the insect's face. Fell to the floor and put a hand on her forehead in disbelief.

It took a moment to regain her bearings. " What the hell?

That was wildly different, something she couldn't ignore. She stomped over to the computer, convinced that she was in a nightmare. Thankful she could test for that sort of thing and checked to see if she was in Dream Time.

She gawked when the tardis informed her that the result was negative. Slightly disappointed by the revelation, she concluded that the tardis had translated for the creature.

She put the thought out of her mind, she'd be off this world soon enough. The first step was to find a temporal rift, and she promptly started a search. The tardis computer hummed as it scoured the ages in search of a fuel source.

A temporal rift was the only thing that could recharge her ship. She wanted to leave this world more than anything else.

As the computer searched it informed her of other things. The date was September 17th, 2016 it was 10:37 am. That the world was composed of a few continents and many islands.

This planet brimmed with life. It informed her that creatures known as pokemon occupied the world. Unfortunately, their co-inhabitants were human.

Missy snarled with the discovery. Since she knew about humans, decided to learn about pokemon.

They served many purposes in this world. A pokemon could be used for companionship, battling, or defense. These creatures seemed to be quite versatile.

Some pokemon such as pidgeot could fly people from city to city, others, like lapras, could travel the oceans, or dig out of caverns, and the possibilities seemed infinite.

The tardis completed its search for a temporal rift. When she read the report, she grimaced, there were no temporal rifts on the planet.

The objective feeling of denial sank in. She wanted to be sure, and with the press of a button, scanned the world again.

The tardis hadn't found a temporal rift but discovered that the world had plenty of temporal anomalies. It became the subject of her next search. The results brought a surprise, a pokemon was behind it.

Celebi resembled a small green fairy, in the picture it hovered in a forest. It was a tiny thing with clear insect-like wings and enormous blue eyes.

Celebi, the Time Travel Pokemon.

This pokemon came from the future by crossing over time. Celebi wanders through time as a guardian of the forest. It is believed that the pokemon replenishes the forest it visits. The sight of a Celebi is said to be a good omen for travelers and trainers alike.

Missy looked over the picture as she memorized every aspect of the pokemon. She then searched for other time-travel pokemon, but Celebi was the only one.

So she scanned the timeline of this world and noticed rifts appearing and disappearing throughout its history. Since the pokemon sporadically appeared and didn't seem to linger for long, she would have to corner it.

She considered the humans, they used pokemon and she wondered how that worked.

The computer had a lot of information about pokeballs and their pocket dimensional properties. How to catch pokemon and the rules involved in the process.

The tardis informed her that catching pokemon was not an easy task. A trainer must first weaken a pokemon before an attempt could be made at capture. Then found out that no pokemon was off-limits to a trainer, as long as they could capture it they could keep it.

She discovered that pokemon trainers cannot capture another trainer's pokemon with pokeballs. To be stolen they must be taken from their original pokeball. A poke store was the perfect place to get them. According to the world map, there were a few towns that didn't have one.

She telepathically had the tardis search for the nearest town. According to the computer she had arrived at the Johto Region. The City of Goldenrod was a stone's throw away.

The computer showed her a map, the city was big but still navigable. It was easy to remember the directions for the store. Intrigued by Goldenrod's size, she wondered if it was the Capital, then she decided to find out.

Goldenrod City was home to a pokemon center, radio tower, game corner, pokemon gym, train station, and a large shopping district. It was the sister of Saffron City in the Kanto Region. Since they were twin cities, she learned about the other.

Saffron City was the heart of Kanto's progress and home to Silph Co. The city hosted two world-renowned pokemon gyms. Historically it was best known for the invention of the pokeball.

Missy pondered over the information she had learned. All she needed to do was purchase some pokeballs, go out and capture a couple of pokemon, then battle Celebi. The concept seemed simple enough.

Feeling she knew enough to get by she grabbed a black purse and her umbrella from under the console. Then checked the contents inside, she had a large black controller, some makeup, and a hairbrush. In her wallet, a piece of psychic paper, and a single credit card, The Master Card, universally accepted.

She took out her makeup mirror and looked at herself. When she looked in the mirror, she gasped. Her appearance hadn't changed much, but she looked much younger and resembled a girl in her early twenties.

Her eyes were as blue as the sea, her pale completion was the beach. It was a shame that tangles of auburn hair distorted the picture.

It was a mess, she got out her brush then started to work out the tangles. She told herself everything had gone wrong today. It really had, what she needed was the Cybermen's technology, not to crash land on a world with talking butterflies.

She set the brush aside. Her fingers skimmed the controls until she found the button she was looking for, the voice integrator button. She tapped it and accessed the language bank. A small list of languages appeared on the screen. She selected pokemon and promptly disabled it.

Missy walked back towards the door and opened it. She was still surrounded by pokemon, it was nothing her remote couldn't fic. Glee-filled reminiscence of enemies running for their lives came to mind when she pressed a button.

A sonic screech filled the area with a dreadful sound. All of the pokemon that surrounded her fled. Satisfied with the work she had done she tucked it away in her bag.

When she stepped down onto the grass her heel sunk into the mud. Then gravity forced her into it. Drenched and angry she stepped back inside.

She ripped off her heels while she walked back inside. Stepped into her wardrobe, then chucked her shoes in a corner. She scrutinized her options before she resigned to the facts, she needed to put on something else.

She placed on a pair of black pants. Snatched a pair of cute boots, an ebony power vest, and a white dress shirt. Her tie was violet and her jacket was a shade of purple so dark it could easily be mistaken for black.

The outfit complimented her elegant figure. When she put up her hair, she admitted that she looked stunning. With that out of the way, she emptied her purse and then moved her belongings to a small black satchel.

The outfit would work for the journey ahead. With the matter taken care of, she strapped her vortex manipulator back onto her wrist and hid it under her jacket. Then snatched her umbrella on the way out.

The tardis had transformed into a tall tree with pink fruits hanging off its branches. On the side, an image of a carved heart and an arrow. It was a marker for her ship, and she remembered it for later. Then paraded into the forest.

According to the map, a path was very close by. It was easy to find, soon she was well on her way.

It was a sunny day, but the dense forest canopy kept out the sun. She felt that was how it should be. The scattered noise ahead, however, didn't seem natural.

The faint sound of gunfire crackled in the distance. What was going on ahead might be a concern. The roar of helicopters and automatic gunfire seemed out of place. When she reached the crest of the path, she was certain of it.

Most of the city was in flames, a casualty of the battle. Red and black helicopters zipped through the smoke. Bright laser beams ripped through the air while they fired at one another.

She noticed a red R emblazoned on the side panel of a black helicopter. The sky was a chaotic frenzy of fire and thunder, beams of energy accompanied the fray, along with countless numbers and species of pokemon. They desperately attacked both factions in a chaotic frenzy.

In the distance, a large pillar of light reached into the sky before it stretched into space. It was unnatural, it must have been half a world away.

A red helicopter zipped overhead and flew low over the city. The rival faction was quick to shoot at it. She smirked and watched, but the focus of her attention soon changed.

She listened to the soft footsteps of a beast, it was near. When she turned, found the source of the sound.

A silver fox dashed away from a nearby bush. Missy gazed upon the pokemon as it approached. It was one of the most stunning creatures she had ever seen. All nine of the pokemon's long and wavy tails ended with brilliant blue tips. The look of terror and red eyes made the pokemon shine.

Missy scanned the creature with her controller. She discovered that it was the pokemon ninetails, the firefox pokemon.

She wanted it and ran in pursuit of the fox. Since she didn't have a pokemon, her controller would have to due. She snatched it from her bag, then shot the pokemon's torso. Another press of a button unleashed a mild pulse of energy.

The pokemon froze in its tracks. Then stumbled and looked back at her in terror.

When the startled pokemon's wits came around, she telepathically confronted her attacker, I wish you hadn't done that.

The pokemon had caught her off guard. Were they telepathic? It was a good question, but it'd have to wait.

They were surrounded by chaos. She hadn't the slightest idea about what was going on with the world. It was simple, she needed to retreat after she dealt with the pokemon.

Oh, I couldn't help it, it's not every day you find such a gorgeous beast, Missy confidently replied, she did her best to conceal her urge to leave.

The sound of a helicopter approaching brought her attention back to the scene. Team Red had dropped in to pay her a visit, she grabbed the remote and promised not to let them down.

With the press of a button, the craft ceased and then froze in the air. The time stop worked wonders, and with the threat neutralized she tucked the remote away.

The pilots looked at each other, then attempted to regain control of the craft. Their confidence was fleeting, they had already started to panic.

A wave of pure energy ended her amusement. The sky turned pale before a brilliant pulse of light ripped through the heavens and shook the earth.

The wind howled and gusts shrieked around her. The forest ignited with radiant blue energy. It leeched out and drifted higher in the sky.

It wasn't just the trees, everything around them including herself slowly dissipated. Trillions of particles slowly floated to the heavens above. She hadn't a clue what it was, but knew she needed to leave.

Missy looked at ninetails, then made an offer, " Come with me."

To her surprise, the pokemon came along with her. They ran through the woods. The pokemon managed to match her stride.

The loud and choppy blades of a helicopter swiftly approached their position. There must have been a battle up ahead, she found a way around it.

The pair dashed down the path, then cut through the trees. When they arrived the tardis had held up, but it was a losing battle. Her ship slowly dissipated along with the rest of the world.

It had bought them time, so she caught her breath.

Ninetails eye's franticly watched the destruction when the fox panicked, That weapon is going to end the world.

Missy sighed, as she gestured to the tardis. " Relax, we're going to make it out of this."

Briskly she opened the door before she looked into the fox's panicked eyes. Missy gazed into the fox's eyes with the intention of total dominance.

Ninetails eyes dilated, then she embraced Missy's emotions. It didn't take long for the fox to calm down, it wasn't much longer before the pokemon submitted to hypnotism.

" Get in, sit down, and touch nothing," Missy softly commanded.

Slowly the fox complied. The pokemon fought her natural instinct to run while she stepped on board.

Missy promptly shut the door. Mentally she accessed the chameleon circuit, then transformed the tardis into a small fountain with a celebi. Satisfied with the transformation, she parked at the fountain's edge.

With the roll of her sleeve, she checked the oscillations and entries for the vortex manipulator. It could still travel through time and get her to any place, but universal travel was locked, it almost seemed non-existent.

The sound of fighting drew near and heightened her senses. She'd figure it out later, right now she needed to leave. With a few calculations, she determined that taking the tardis in this manner would work.

With her greatest concern out of the way, she began to punch coordinates for ten years past. A red shot of energy whizzed past her. The ray had passed closer than she would have liked, and she had felt the heat. It hardly startled her, but she hadn't noticed her finger slip on the digits.

A man dressed in a red suit approached her. His eyes were concealed by red sunglasses, but his smirk was unforgettable. He struck her as cocky and ready to fire another round.

It no longer mattered, she was out of there. Missy could feel the pull of the time stream. She watched time shift, the forest became a blur, then swirled around her.
