HI! This is my first fanfic so sorry if it's not great. I've had this idea for years so I wanted to finally write it. Obviously I don't own any of the characters from Doctor Who or The Vampire Diaries

1

Mystic Falls, a place where nothing much happens to the average eyes, but underneath the charm the town is surrounded by death. This is the exact thing that pulled the TARDIS to this destination.

The Doctor beamed at Donna excitedly as he ran around the console of the TARDIS flipping switches and pulling levers, grinning and laughing like a madman. All the while, Donna is just trying to hold on to the banister for dear life. Although she may be panicking, there is a hint of a smile on her lips.

"DOCTOR! How much longer till we smooth out!" Donna screamed over the wiring of the TARDIS.

"Something is pulling the TARDIS in." He replied as he grabbed onto the monitor. "I can't control her!" With that statement Donna started to panic.

"You're telling me that you have no idea what's happening?!" She screamed.

"No, well… maybe." He paused to furiously crank something on the console. "Okay, yes, I might have no idea." He gave a sheepish smile to Donna, who replied with an annoyed sigh. "But that is what makes this so fun!" He joyously yelled over the now screaming TARDIS.

A sudden switch in direction caused them to both fall toward the door, which just so happened to fall open as well.

"HANG ON!" The Doctor yelled as he was hanging out the door.

"I AM!" Donna screamed back, while rolling her eyes.

Both barely hodling on as the TARDIS banged and bucked into a forest, the doors to the TARDIS slammed shut and with a large crash and bang they landed at last. As soon as they were still, the Doctor sprinted to the console once more to check where they were on the monitor.

He grabbed onto the sides of the monitor and the biggest smile was then plastered on his face.

"Oh, Donna. You're going to love this place! Virginia, 2012! A great year! Barack Obama is President and the summer olympics in London." He finishes off the statement with a smug look and crossing his arms over his chest. He looks over at Donna who is still trying to find her bearings from the rough landing.

"Oh, c'mon Donna. It's not like that's never happened before."

"Well, excuse me, but that is the problem, Doctor. Those things shouldn't happen. Don't you know how to fly this thing?" She said angrily pointing at the TARDIS.

Putting his hand over his chest, with an exasperated look he gasps. "I'll have you know that I have been flying HER for hundreds of years." Crossing his arms again he looks away in mock offense.

"You'd think you would have learned how to actually land it by now then." Much like the Doctor she posed mock offense and crossed her arms across her chest as well.

Both looking around, they notice they are in the middle of a forest. As far as the eye can see, only trees. They both come to the same conclusion, where are we?

Donna looked over at the Doctor. "So what now?"

He looked at her, then back at the woods, and then back at her. Sticking his pointer finger into his mouth, then making a popping sound to bring it out, he stuck his now saliva covered finger into the air. "Based on the speed and velocity of the air flow." He spun around in a circle and then pointed with all his might. "I say if we go in that direction, we will find a small little town."

Knowing the Doctor was a strange man, Donna did not question him and followed him as he began to make his way through the forest. It was not long before they came to a road that had a sign saying "Welcome to Mystic Falls Virginia."

Smiling down at Donna, "See Donna, I may know a little thing or two. Well, maybe more, but I got us to where we need to be." He ended his statement with a little laugh as Donna rolled her eyes up at him, but didn't try and hide her smile. She knew he would figure out where they were, she had no doubt.

"Usually, when someone crash lands they, generally, and I may be guessing here, don't know where they are."

"I'm not just some bloke though." He slapped his hands on her shoulders and then started toward Mystic Falls with a kick in his step. He loved seeing new things and meeting new people. Hopefully something exciting will be going on.

As they got closer to the town they could see some people walking around grocery shopping, or just relaxing in the park.

Donna taps the Doctor's arm pointing at a bar. "I bet we could ask some people in there if anything weird has been going on."

"Good idea Donna!" He all but beamed at her. Grabbing her hand to drag her along, they head for the bar called "Mystic Grill". Inside they notice not too many people, so they head for the bar to talk to the bartender.

They take a seat at the bar, where the bartender quickly comes over to help them. "What can I get ya?" He asks as he wipes their spots with a towel.

"Actually, I'm here to ask a couple questions." Says the Doctor as he takes out and shows his psychic paper.

Looking confused, "What's the FBI want with Mystic Falls? It's not like murder is new around here."

Donna and the Doctor gave each other a look before getting back at the man in front of them.

Putting on his best face the Doctor begins. "That is the exact reason we have come to town. The murders. You say they are normal?" He raises his brow at the man.

"Well, yeah I guess. I've been here my whole life and every few years someone gets killed by something out in the woods. They always say it was a wild animal, but I have never seen a lion, wolf, or bear around here." He shrugged. "Honestly, people don't really think about the murders too much. I guess you could say we're used to them."

This time Donna spoke up. "If it's just some animal, why haven't you gone out and hunted the thing down?"

The bartender looked around the room and then leaned in toward them. They leaned toward him as well. He whispered "Between you and me". The Doctor and Donna nodded. "I think it's monsters, vampires. My cousin works at the funeral home in town and says that every time it's an animal attack they have their necks all bit up. Always the same, and that most, if not all, of their blood is gone as well." His features looked completely serious. "I mean, what else could it possibly be, besides vampires. Especially in this town." He gave a nod and started to clean some more glasses.

Lowering his voice, "What do you mean, especially in this town?" The doctor inquired.

With a look of shock, "You don't know?"

Donna and the Doctor just looked at each other and shrugged at the man.

Leaning back against the bar with his arms crossed. "This town has a lot of old wives tales and stories about vampires. People say the town was founded by vampires themselves and that all the founding families have vampires in their family trees. Not too many people talk about it and whenever it is talked about, that's when people go missing or get killed." He gave a big sigh and looked around the room again. "If I were you two, I'd pack up and go back to where you came from."

Hearing that last bit the Doctor pulled out some American cash and slid it onto the bar, "Thank you for your time, uh, what was your name again?" He held his hand out. The bartender reached out and shook his hand, "My name is Ben, and what might your name be?"

"I'm the Doctor and this is Donna. Thank you for talking to us today, Ben." With that they both got up from their stools and made their way to the door with a final nod thanking Ben. As they left Ben waved goodbye and got right back to work.

Outside the Doctor and Donna made their way to one of the empty benches in the park, far enough away from everyone to not hear them talk.

The Doctor sat with a huff and ran his hands through his hair leaning back into the bench. Donna just quietly sat next to him waiting for him to go off. After several minutes of silence Donna could not take it any longer.

"You can't honestly believe actual vampires are to blame."

"I don't know what to think, Donna. It's a big universe. They're probably not actual vampires from myth, but they could be similar enough. I say we head to the library to see what we can find about this town's history." He leaned back in the bench once more, stretching his arms and legs out as far as he could. Slapping his legs he was up. Donna stood up as well and shook out some nerves she had been holding in during their conversation with Ben.

"Okay, where's this library?" Donna said as she looked around the park.

The Doctor began to run up toward some lady with a couple children. Looking as friendly as he could, "Excuse me, ma'am. Could you point us in the direction of the library?"

"Down the block, there and it should be on your right." She pointed the opposite direction the bar was in.

Clapping his hands together, he thanked her and they were on their way again. As the Doctor and Donna walked off toward the library the lady took out her phone. Being a windy day her blonde hair kept getting in her mouth as she waited for the person she called to answer the call. The phone rang and rang, so she left a message. "Hey, Damon, this is Caroline, just wanted to let you know that there's a couple people here asking questions. I heard Ben telling them about vampires in the bar. Call me back." With that she hung up the phone and got back to her walk with the kids she was babysitting.

Back with the Doctor and Donna they were deep in stacks of historical records of the town. They found case after case of animal attacks and missing persons. The more they read, the more they believed it was actual vampires. They needed more information, it seemed like something was being covered up and they needed to find out why.

Putting all of the books back in their rightful locations they headed to the sheriff. They would have some more information.

Mystic Falls being a small town, meant the sheriff's office was not far from the library. The Doctor took the lead and held the door open for Donna to enter as well. She walked in and saw just a couple police officers sitting at desks talking to each other. A lot different than the ones they show on the television. Seeing a couple strangers walk in, one of the older police officers decided to see what they needed.

"Hello, how may I help you two?" A tall man asked with a smile.

Pulling out his psychic paper again, the Doctor answered. "We are with the FBI and are looking into the murders and missing persons cases here in Mystic Falls. It has been brought to our attention that something more must be going on and we want to know what that may be. It is not normal for a town of this size to have this many murder cases." Seeing that the officer saw his badge, he began to put it back away into his overcoat. "We would like to talk to the sheriff and ask them some questions about the matter."

Looking skeptical, "The FBI huh. Well you wouldn't be the first schmucks to come here and expect to find something. It always ends the same. Guys coming in with questions and then leaving saying it was a big mistake. So good luck to ya. Her office is the last one down that hallway. Just knock before you go in." With that he walked back over to his desk and began laughing with the other officers. Probably making fun of them.

Paying no mind to the laughs, the Doctor and Donna headed to the sheriff's office and knocked on her door. After a second the door opened up to a short haired blonde woman. She looked surprised and then stepped aside for them to come in. There were two seats available so they went ahead and sat down. As the sheriff started to walk back to her desk the Doctor went ahead and began talking.

"Hello, sheriff. I'm the Doctor and this is Donna, we are with the FBI and have a few questions for you." He showed his psychic paper and with a nod from the sheriff he continued.

"It has come to our attention that this town is known for animal attacks and missing persons cases. We just came from the library and saw that all throughout the town's history these have been everlasting problems. Seems strange for such a small town if you ask me. And talking to a couple people, they seem to agree that something is going on because whenever a hunt to kill these animals is prepared nothing is ever found. How is it possible that every single time the animal gets away? It would only make sense to have at least one caught after all these years." He looked over at Donna and then back at the sheriff. He was expecting an excuse, but to his surprise he did not get one.

The sheriff sighed and went to grab something in a filing cabinet. "I'll be honest with you two, I have lost count on the number of government men and women coming to this town looking for answers. I honestly thought they had given up."

Donna spoke up, "What was your name again?"

"Oh, sorry. Sheriff Forbes. She gave a sad smile and reached out to shake both of their hands.

"We just want to know what is actually happening here, if there is anything you can help with, we would be more than grateful." Donna said.

The Doctor nodded at Donna and then looked to sheriff Forbes, waiting for her response.

The sheriff looked down at the file she was looking for and sighed. She pulled it out, it was massive. She laid it down on her desk and then sat down. "With a heavy heart, I have to tell you these are all of the cases involving animal attacks. It is a lot and what this town is known for, unfortunately. My family is one of the founding families of this town and is privy to some more knowledge than everyone else. Now, what have you come up with as to the reason for these killings?" She was very nervous now, she was saying too much, but something about this man made her feel like she should say something.

The Doctor sat back in his chair and crossed his feet on the desk in front of him. He nonchalantly replied, "Apparently vampires exist. That is the only thing we can come up with to explain the blood loss and wounds given to the victims." As he spoke he side eyed the sheriff to see her reaction. She did not look surprised, which all but proved he was correct.

"Seeing your reaction, I suspect you already knew." He placed his hands behind his head. Donna looked from him to the sheriff so fast, she gave herself whiplash.

"You're telling me it's ACTUALLY vampires! How is that possible." Donna was full on panic mode now. She couldn't stand how calm both of them were.

The sheriff sighed. She grabbed a key and opened up a drawer to her desk and pulled out a bottle of whiskey. She then grabbed her phone and called the front desk. "Hey, yeah this is sheriff Forbes, I'm calling off for the rest of the day, I had something come up that I need to attend to." With that she hung up the phone and began to pour herself a glass. Offering some to both of them she began to speak.

"I have lived in this town my entire life and growing up I heard stories of vampires and other monsters, but it was always just that. Stories. When I joined the force I really started to pay attention to the amount of people who would go missing or be killed by some animal. Even then I was able to ignore it because I was just a beat cop. When I became the sheriff, that is when it was basically thrown into my forefront. I was no longer able to forget about it because I was the one in charge and supposed to lead the hunts for those animals and the searches for the missing people. It's even worse when it is someone you grew up with or even their children. It makes it so much more personal. It got to the point it was the only thing I would think about. I spent months searching and digging for answers, when eventually it all but walked in my door." With that said she chuckled into her glass taking a large swig of her whiskey.

Donna looked skeptical, "I'm afraid you will have to explain what you mean by that."

"Are you saying you personally know a vampire?" The Doctor's eyes were wide with anticipation and excitement awaiting her answer.

The sheriff's eyes went wide as well, now thinking about what she had just said. She had absolutely no idea why she said that. To out Damon. It was basically a death sentence. What if they were hunters and would have her daughter killed? It was hard enough dealing with her daughter now being a vampire, but to have her killed off as well. She just wouldn't be able to handle that. Damon would do anything to save his own skin. Even saying it was all on Caroline. She couldn't control herself, and it was only one person.

While sheriff Forbes was having all these things cross through her mind she had been staring blankly forward.

"Sheriff Forbes." Donna speaking startled the sheriff out of her thoughts.

With a small flinch, the sheriff took another gulp of her whiskey. "Sorry about that, just trying to figure out what to say." She nervously laughed.

Sitting forward in his chair, the Doctor replied, "Why don't you start with how long you have been hiding these deaths to protect your vampire friend." He ended the statement with a small smile. It wasn't too hard for him to tell she was uncomfortable, anyone would see that, but the TARDIS brought them here for a reason and he was going to figure out why.

Looking straight into the Doctor's eyes, "A couple years ago the Salvatores moved back into town, with them came a lot of trouble. The killings came back stronger than ever and some other things, but that isn't important. Basically, wherever they went something went wrong. Stefan, the younger brother, went to the high school here and became friends with some students. My daughter being one of them. He has an older brother named Damon. He's a handful, putting it lightly. My daughter, Caroline and her friends got close with Stefan, while I became pretty good friends with Damon. They just have a way about themselves that pulls people in." She took another sip of her drink and put a puzzled look on her face.

"Honestly Doctor. You seem fairly similar. I have never told anyone this before, but here we are."

He smiled and grabbed onto Donna's shoulder. "I just have something about me, I guess. No matter who it is, they always want to tell me all about their evil plans." He said as he brought his hands up beside his head as if he was mocking a vampire.

Donna laughed a little and rolled her eyes at him as she had fallen into his persona as well.

"Hmm, well I don't know how to say it, but, ah. Dammit. I'm just going to say it. Those Slavatore brothers are vampires." The sheriff took a giant gulp of her whiskey emptying her glass and slammed it on the desk waiting for their responses.

The Doctor looked like a kid in a candy store, while Donna was showing completely different emotions. She looked as if she was scared to be there and doubtful at the same time. She didn't know what to think. Yes, she knew it was about the only thing that made sense after all their research on the town and even multiple townspeople saying so, it was hard to wrap your head around something that is taught as myth your entire life.

Calming herself down, "So, let me get this straight. You are friends with these people even though you know they are the ones killing people. You're a sheriff. Is it not your job to take care of these things? You know. Catch the bad guys."

"Oh, c'mon Donna I bet she has a good reason. I mean they are immortal beings, how would she kill them anyway." He once again put his hands behind his head in a relaxed fashion.

"Honestly, you're right, Donna." The sheriff looked incredibly sorrowful. "It is my job to keep this town safe, but these two are nearly two hundred years old. Vampires get stronger with age. I hate to say it, but there are bigger threats we have to deal with in this town, I'd rather them be on our side."

"HAH! Their babies. I bet I could talk some sense into them. Get them to tone it down a bit for you. I'm pretty good with people." He said with a huge grin plastered on his face.

"But these vampires aren't people, Doctor. What are you going to do? Walk up to them and say no more killing because I'm older than you?" Donna replied.

"Well, I wouldn't say it like that. I bet they have a good side I can get too. Everyone does. Some are just buried deeper than others." Seeing that Donna was not convinced, he looked to the sheriff.

"So, Sheriff Forbes, where are these two located? I'd like to talk to them." He said this in a tone that gave no room for discussion.

"Uh, I bet it wouldn't be a good idea for you just to go to their house. Let me call Damon to let him set up a meeting or something." Grabbing her phone she paused before dialing his number and then quickly looked up at the Doctor.

"Wait! You called them babies." She was uncertain how to ask. Was he a vampire too? Did he just want to know where they were?

Acting like it was the most normal thing, "Oh, yes I am actually over 900 years old."

"He's a spaceman from Mars." Donna said while shrugging.

The sheriff opened her mouth to speak, but the Doctor beat her to the punch. "No, I am not from Mars. Come on Donna, you'll confuse her."

Donna scoffed, "Whatever, that's what you are to me."

With a sad smile, "I am an alien, but I'm from the planet Gallifrey, in the constellation of Kasterborous. My people are called Time Lords. I'm the last one. They're all dead." He looked down at his lap and folded his hands between his legs. Donna reached over and placed her hand on his leg in a comforting manner. The Doctor looked into her eyes and placed both his hands over her own. The sheriff just sat in silence understanding that no matter what she said would make him feel any better if what he said was true.

It was very hard for her to wrap her mind around how old this man in front of her was. He was nearly the same age as Klaus and Elijah.

Sighing, "Doctor, I can't even begin to understand what you have gone through in all your time, but the Salvatores could severely hurt you if they don't take kindly to you asking them questions."

Acting like nothing happened, the Doctor jumped up and headed toward the door. "Alright! Sheriff you can call Damon up. Donna and I will be waiting in the lobby, if that's okay. It's probably best for you to come along with us."

Donna stood up and walked out of the office after the Doctor. She waved to the sheriff as she shut the door behind her.

Once the sheriff was once again alone, she leaned back in her chair and ran her hands over her face groaning. Grabbing her phone she dialed Damon

"Hello, Liz. Fancy you calling me on such a fine day as this." Damon answered over the phone.

"Hi Damon. I have some people that would like to meet you. Uh, they have some questions."

"Who are they? What do they want?" She could feel his anger and worry through the call. Anymore, he was pretty easy to read.

"They just want to talk, I don't know what it is about the man, but I told him almost everything. The truth about vampires."

"Did he compel you? I thought you were on vervain."

"I am, that wasn't what it was. He never told me to do anything. He was very nice. He claims he is an alien. The lady with him said she was human. They are pretending to be FBI agents. They say they are looking into all the killings and missing people."

"Liz."

"Listen Damon. I felt like he was a nice guy. I'd say just hear him out and we can figure out what to do from there. I told them I should come to the meeting as well. Maybe if I'm there it won't be as bad as they already know who I am."

"Ugh! You're putting me in such a tight spot here. You expect me to believe an alien and his little human friend are worried about murders in Mystic Falls. Do you take me for an idiot? I bet they are working for Klaus. Ever since Stefan got back with him, nothing good has happened. You know that."

"I know Damon, but they were very adamant. Just hear him out, please. I bet they won't leave until they talk to you." She practically begged him.

"Okay, fine. You're pulling my leg. They want to meet today?"

"Yes."

"Okay, come on by the house then."

"Will do, please play nice though."

"No promises." He hung up the phone and Liz steeled herself before heading out of her office to bring the Doctor and Donna to see Damon.
