The only good thing about this place so far was the food. The burgers Meredith put together for them were finger-licking, pornstar-moaning good and Dean felt so full, he thought he might just lie down and sleep till next week.

That tingly sensation was back, nagging at him because the burgers were Cas' choice, but Dean kept reminding himself that it had nothing to do with him. Jimmy loved burgers too, and Cas was probably going for the safest option. He had seen Dean eat them with cheese and bacon so many times that he probably thought it was how they were supposed to be served nowadays.

It didn't mean anything.

They both wolfed down two each, much to Eve's dismay, and excused themselves fast. The word got around fast and the newest gossip was about their landing on the island, so everyone understood why they were retreating to their cabin so soon.

As soon as they crossed the threshold, Dean started feeling nervous. The place had no couch, and he really didn't want to sleep on the floor, nor did he want to push Cas into doing it. But would the angel be okay with them sharing? He didn't mind it before, when they were out there, but maybe he had been scared of the wildlife and needed the reassurance of Dean's presence?

They were indoors now, and maybe Cas wanted to sleep alone?

Dean's heart was in his throat as the angel started stripping and folding his shirt and pants neatly on a chair before walking back to the bed in nothing but Dixon's boxer briefs, the same ones Dean had on. Why couldn't he be a pajama kind of a guy?

Cas lifted the thin sheet, looking ready to climb in when he paused and glanced at Dean. His big blue eyes just stared at him, like he knew exactly what war waged inside of the hunter. Hell, maybe he did, Cas was getting better at the whole social thing. This was one instance where Dean wished that wasn't so. Maybe this whole thing wouldn't be so awkward then.

Offering the angel a small smile, Dean walked over to the bed and started talking off his shirt, letting it fall to the ground. The only thing worse would be to call attention to this situation, so Dean didn't ask if it would be okay to share, didn't tell Cas they should stay on their respective sides of the bed, no. He just silently removed his shorts and climbed in, settling next to the angel. Both of them were on their back, just staring at the ceiling.

"They seem like good people," Cas suddenly said, startling Dean out of his (lack of) thoughts. Moving only his head, Dean glanced at the angel.

"The guests? I guess. Wasn't really paying much attention."

"Rosemary seems particularly sweet. Eve is a little… Energetic. Their husbands seem kind as well, even if Brandon seems a little reserved."

"Alright…"

"And I really liked Meredith. She really knows her way around food," Cas kept talking, his eyes still fixated on the ceiling.

"Okay? What's the point, Cas?"

"It's just that neither of them seem to be Gabriel." Oh, right. Of course. It completely slipped Dean's mind to look for the douchebag, as Gabriel always liked to mask himself as one of the people, or at least somehow observe the scene.

"Oh, well, yeah. I guess," Dean replied, his heart skipping a beat when Cas turned to look at him.

"What are we going to do about tomorrow?"

"What–what about tomorrow?" Dean gulped; Cas was just so close, he could feel the angel's body heat.

"We are supposed to start with the resort's activities after breakfast. The first planned event starts after breakfast. Are we… Are we still going to play along?"

"Activity? What activity?" Dean frowned. He had no clue what Cas was talking about.

"Didn't you hear what Eve said? They have this whole schedule for the entire stay. Some activities take up the whole day, but apparently they will take it easy on us the first few days. I tried to inquire about them, but Eve didn't know much other than it would be couple oriented and would include watersports."

"The what?!"

"Watersports. Like swimming."

"Oooooh… I thought… Never mind. Okay, so, I guess we'll just play along until we find a way to get out of here, or to get Gabriel to show his face." Cas seemed to deflate a little at that, turning his head back towards the ceiling. When he spoke again, his voice wavered and he sounded so small.

"But… I can't swim."

Oh, shit. Yeah, Dean had forgotten all about that and he really shouldn't have, Cas almost drowned for fuck's sake. And to make things even worse, Cas sighed, his breath coming out a little shakily and fuck, was he about to cry?

Dropping all awkwardness, Dean turned to him, reaching to set a comforting hand and connected with the angel's bare chest. Not what he intended, but he couldn't back down now. Cas' head snapped in his direction and even in the darkness of the room he could see how wide his eyes were.

"Hey, it's okay. You don't have to worry about that. I, um… I can teach you how to swim." Dean patted the spot on the angel's chest before retracting his hand. Nothing weird, no, it was all cool.

"Thank you, Dean." The smile and gratitude was so evident in Cas' voice that Dean couldn't help but smile too.

"Any time, Cas." And he really meant it this time. He made a huge mistake sending Cas away when he was human before, he wasn't gonna make it again.

Cas shifted on the bed. Dean wasn't sure, but he thought that maybe the angel moved a little closer. Dean shifted a little closer too, just a little, barely noticeable.

"Good night, Dean."

"Good night, Cas."

And if later that night Dean moved and slung a hand over the angel after Cas had fallen asleep, nobody could say it didn't happen in his sleep. Totally by accident.
