Long time, no update! This story hasn't been updated since December 30, 2016. Also, I'm going to make the writing style a bit more terse compared to previous chapters and especially compared to my other two major adventure stories. So yeah, each chapter's goal is to be around 2k words.
"That fossil is property of Team Rocket! Let go or face serious consequences!"
Ash and Sabrina turned around and saw the female Team Rocket member with the outrageous red hair.
"It's you crooks again!" Ash said with clenched fists. "You're not gonna steal these fossils." Even though he was disappointed that no fossil Pokemon could be psychic type, he was not going to let Team Rocket further disrupt the harmony of this cave.
Sabrina wanted to use his telekinetic powers to bring the fossil to her so she could hide it from these criminals. There was no telling what they would do if they were to get a hold of one.
"It's payback time for you twerps after the humiliation we suffered!" redhead woman said with her big mouth.
"And we want that Exeggcute, pronto," the male with blue hair said.
"Meowth! Better hand over before things get ugly!" the Meowth said.
Ash didn't like how they were going to end up chasing them until he handed over his Pokemon. He could never do that!
Sabrina took a moment to stop and think about how to handle these low lives. She had a feeling conflict was inevitable and would have to use her Venonat to send them packing.
"Ash, let's use our Pokemon together to drive them back," she told her companion.
"If you keep them distracted," Brock began. "I can make sure that they don't steal the fossil."
"Deal," Ash said. "I guess we haven't got a choice." He took Exeggcute's ball off his hip and Sabrina did the same with her Venonat.
"Go!" Both children said as they released their Pokemon.
"Ah, looks like the twerpette has a Pokemon of her own," chuckled Jessie. "That'll earn us a nice bonus from the Boss." She took her Pokeball and enlarged it and threw it out. "Go, Ekans!"
"And you, too, Koffing!" said James as he tossed out his.
"Two poison types. This shouldn't be too difficult," Sabrina began as she coolly analized what was ahead. "But be careful with Exeggcute, since she is grass type."
"Got it," Ash nodded as he looked at the two purple Pokemon ahead of him. "Exeggcute, use barrage!"
"Ekans, use your poison sting attack against the barrage!" ordered Jessie. Purple needles were expelled from the mouth of Ekans and they collided with the black orbs, effectively cancelling the attack.
"Venonat, use supersonic on Koffing!" Ordered Sabrina as she was doing what she could to help out Ash. With a high pitch screech, Venonat let lose some energy rings that confused Koffing, causing him to spin around frantically.
"Smog!" ordered James as he held onto his rose. Koffing spun towards Venonat and let lose some gross brownish grey gas towards the insect before continuing to spin around from confusion.
"Confusion! See how they like it and send it back to Koffing," Sabrina commanded. Venonat pushed the gases back towards Koffing with psychic abilities, causing Koffing to choke on the fumes.
"Pull it together and then use wrap," ordered Jessie as she was wanting this battle to end. Brock used this moment when the two thieves were blinded by the gas to put the fossil safely in his backpack.
"Sabrina, let's do a joint attack to get rid of these crooks," Ash suggested.
"Venonat, Exeggcute!" both humans were saying to their respective Pokemon. "Use confusion!" Ekans and Koffing were both outlined with a blue aura and they were both pushed back and collided with their owners, swirls in the eyes of the Pokemon.
"Grrrrr!" Growled Jessed. "Meowth," she resumed as she grabbed the cat. "Get out there and avenge your allies!" She threw Meowth out with extended claws and Ash said,
"Leech seed!" Exeggcute was outlined with an aura and then a tiny aura was glowing on her and she shot a seed at Meowth who tried to dodge it, but it got the tip of his tail.
"Mee-ouch!" the cat said as he was now immobilized from the seed sapping his health.
"Venonat, use tackle!" Sabrina told her Pokemon. Venonat ran towards Meowth and collided with him, causing his body to impact the two criminals. In anime fashion, it sent Team Rocket blasting off, leaving a twinkle in the sky.
Ash and Sabrina both sighed with relief, glad that those two were finally gone.
"Shall we resume?" Ash said to Sabrina as he held out his arm, wanting to hold her good arm as her other one was still in the cast from when she had fallen off the bicycle.
Sabrina had a small smile show up on her face and she said, "Okay. Thanks, Ash. You did a good job with Exeggcute."
"You're the one who sent Team Rocket blasting," Ash acknowledged. "I'm just glad we can get out of here uninterrupted."
He's so cute when he's brave, and he's becoming a better trainer, thought Sabrina. Now it's definitely meant for us to travel together.
"C'mon, guys, let's find our way out of here and get to Cerulean City," Brock suggested. "I bet you too are hungry." He was super proud that the younger children were able to ward off Team Rocket and was relieved that they didn't steal any fossils nor any other Pokemon were disturbed in the cave.
The three travellers were leaving the cave and Ash saw something with green head and two red horns and its lower half was white.
"Oh? What is that?" Ash said as he took out his Pokedex.
"Ralts female, the feeling Pokemon. It is a weak Psychic Pokemon that is able to pick up the emotions of humans. It sometimes shows up if humans are happy." Ash wanted to catch another Pokemon so badly, but he took into consideration Sabrina and said to her,
"Why don't you capture this Ralts, Sabrina? I bet it could eventually evolve into something strong."
He's so considerate, putting me ahead of his own wants and needs, thought Sabrina. I wouldn't mind having another Pokemon, so why not. Sabrina took out her Venonat and said, "Come on out, Venonat."
Venonat chittered once he got out of his ball and was eager to fight again. Sabrina ordered him to tackle Ralts, but once Ralts noticed the insect was heading right for her, she teleported out of the way. Sabrina groaned rom this, but thankfully Ralts wasn't going to flee from the battle.
"Venonat, use stun spore!" Sabrina ordered, trying to come up with some sort of strategy to whittle Ralts' stamina down. Venonat squeaked his name and unleashed brownish orange powder. Ralts was not able to get away from the powder, but after it was evident that she became paralyzed, so did Venonat! Sabrina gasped at this. "She must have synchronize as her ability."
"What does that do?" asked Ash.
"It means that if Ralts suffers a status problem, she passes it to her opponent," explained Sabrina. Sabrina was getting annoyed already, but she was determined to capture a Pokemon that could evolve to be strong. Plus, her gym did not have a Ralts or any of the evolved forms, so this was going to be interesting. "Venonat, if you can pull enough strength, try using tackle!"
"Veno!" chirped the insect as he headed for Ralts, but she dodged the attack.
"Now try confusion!"
Venonat's eyes began to glow and he covered Ralts with the aura and slammed her not so hard against the tree since he was having difficulty from the paralysis. Still, it was enough to weaken the true psychic type.
Brock was amazed at how strong Sabrina had become for just a beginner and said, "If you keep pressing Venonat, you may be without a Pokemon. I have herbs that will rid them both of paralysis."
Sabrina nodded and used her telekinesis to launch the ball at Ralts. It gained admiraiton from Brock and Ash and Ralts was soon captured! Sabrina walked over and used telekinesis to bring the ball to her hand.
"Thank you, Ash, for letting me have Ralts," she told the raven-haired male. Ash smiled because it was only fair for her to have Ralts. Now she had two Pokemon while he had one and he said,
"You're welcome! I call dibs on the next psychic-type Pokemon, though!"
Sabrina nodded. "Deal."
The two finally managed to get back on the road to Cerulean City and arrived at the Pokemon Center.
"It'll take a bit of time to have the Pokemon healed, so why don't you go take a walk?" Advised Nurse Joy.
"Okay, that sounds fair. C'mon, Brock," Sabrina told the older male. She was faced away from Nurse Joy so she used this opportunity to give Brock a small tug on his jacket with Telekinesis. How powers were still immature, but they were useful in situations like that. Ash wished so badly that he could have powers like that, but he was assured that people could only be born with them.
Ash, Brock, and Sabrina were walking by the Cerulean Cape when they heard an electronic whooshing sound. Ash looked and saw that it was a small tan Pokemon that appeared to have battle armor and a tail.
"Is that..." Brock said.
"Abra!" Sabrina and Ash said. Ash was without a Pokemon but he really wanted to capture an Abra. They could evolve into an Alakazam and unleash very powerful special attacks, and that was exactly what Ash needed to show Gary a thing or two about bragging about his Eevee.
"I'm gonna capture this Abra," Ash told the others as he took a ball off his hip. Abra did not like this and his eyes glowed along with his fist as he tried to hit Ash with a thunder punch!
"Whoa!" Ash called out as he managed to barely miss getting hit. Abra's fist caught on fire and almost hit Ash in the gut with it.
"This Abra clearly belonged to someone; they don't know these moves naturally," Sabrina observed.
Even though Abra had low physical attack power, that didn't mean the attacks wouldn't hurt. Ash was able to dodge the attacks Abra kept dishing out and he fell to his knees. A voice started cackling and Ash recognized it.
"Team Rocket!" the three humans said as they saw the balloon behind them. It was surprising how they were so distracted they couldn't hear nor see the balloon approach.
"Looks like the twerp's in a bit of a bind with that Abra, so let us give you a hand and take him off your hands!" chuckled James at his lame pun as he pressed a button and a metallic arm shot and captured Abra!
"Abra!" the three humans and the Pokemon said. Abra did his best to try to teleport, but it did not work.
Sabrina was scared for the Abra and she realized she had one chance to get this right. She didn't care that she probably was gonna get called a freak by Team Rocket, but the Pokemon's safety was more important. She outlined the Pokeball with her telekinetic powers and launched it at Abra and it hit Abra's foot. Abra got sucked into the ball and the ball fell out of the metallic arm and onto the ground. The ball shook five times over the span of 10 seconds before it was captured!
"Sabrina...thank you," Ash told the girl. She merely nodded and Ash picked up the Pokeball. "Okay, Abra...give them a fire punch!" He tossed the ball out and the small psychic type emerged and wanted revenge. His fist glowed red and he punched the balloon, sending it flying over the horizon. The three young humans gasped at how powerful it was.
"Team Rocket's blasting off again!" yelled the three crooks as they twinkled in the sky again. Ash, Brock, and Sabrina sighed with relief as they were finally at peace again.
"You did awesome, Abra! You're quite strong!" praised Ash with a big smile on his face. Ash heard a voice in his head only he could hear.
"My old trainer abandoned me because she thought I was too weak. I have been undergoing special training to get stronger."
Ash gasped. "That Abra spoke to my mind!"
"It knows telepathy!" gasped Sabrina as she was shocked.
Abra transmitted telepathy to all three of them and said, "Yes, but I use it only with people I feel that I can trust. You were brave to stop those crooks from capturing me for who knows what, and I want to thank you. I'll be glad to accompany you on your journey."
"You're gonna be the best Abra you can be, cause I'm trying to be the best psychic Pokemon trainer," Ash said. Abra cheered at this and pumped his fist into the air, causing Ash and Brock to laugh and Sabrina to flatly smile. "Let's get you rested at the Pokemon Center; we both have Pokemon that can use psychic abilities, and I bet that they would be glad to have you."
The three returned to the Pokemon Center and Abra took a brief rest and soon, they were outside the gym.
I made Abra's capture similar to the original, but it takes place in Cerulean instead of Pallet Town.
