Fateful Encounter
"Hey, Sota, hurry up! We'll be late for school," Kagome yelled to her little brother. The boy did hurry and they began to walk down the shrine steps. From her vantage point, Kagome could see a man with silver hair sitting on the bottom step. He was playing with a kitten.
"Hey, is that your kitten?" She asked when they reached him. She sat down next to him and started to play with the kitten as well.
"I guess," he replied, his voice proving to be sophisticated.
"You guess? How can you guess if something's yours or not?" She asked, the kitten purring in her lap as she pet it. He laughed and replied, "I'm not quite sure. But, really, we're more like traveling companions than anything else."
"You travel a lot?" Kagome asked, eyes wide as the kitten stretched out on her lap. The man nodded, his silver hair shining in the sunlight.
"Hey, what's your name?" Kagome questioned him. The man turned his head towards her and replied, "Sesshoumaru. And your name is Kagome, right?"
She nodded and then asked what the kitten's name was. "Her name is Kirara."
"Hey, sis, come on, you're going to be late!" Sota yelled at Kagome. She stood up and turned to Sesshoumaru, "Bye!"
He smiled and replied, "Good bye." He sat on the shrine steps and watched as Kagome and her brother crossed the street. But, his eyes widened as he saw a car come out of nowhere. Setting Kirara down, he ran into the street and pushed Kagome out of the way just in time.
Later, in the hospital, where Sesshoumaru was at due to a broken arm, he looked out the window and sighed as the full moon arose over the night sky.
"Consider our debt fulfilled little brother."
Four years later...
"So, Kagome, did you ever find out whom it was that saved you from getting hit?" Sango asked.
"You know, he told me his name, but I've completely forgotten it," she replied. But, that night as the full moon arose over the feudal era night, Inu Yasha's ears stood up and caught the words that had crossed time. He could have sworn he had heard his brother's voice saying, "Consider our debt fulfilled little brother."
A/N: Hmm, just a little ficlet that came into my head. Also, Humans is still on hiatus. Sorry, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles. I own nothing in this ficlet.
