Chapter 1

Leah had heard of Wolfram and Hart, aware of what it was. They had been under investigation due to some people who said they were evil. There were things she was well aware of that she neglected to tell anyone. Spike was one of them being one of the eldest living vampires around. They've known each other for a while, together they went drinking when she had some time. Their first encounter wasn't so pleasant when she was out on a job working, but has time passed and they eventually got along.

She is an elder slayer well aware of what she was capable of. It had been quite sometime since Spike had came across anyslayers. They were rare now a days, most were killed off by random vampires or demons. Leah pulled back her dark hair long hair getting it out of her face in the bathroom. Then she had to go and talked to the head guys at Wolfrum and Hart law firm.

It was daylight at the moment, so she headed to the office making her way past people going up the elevator. As it made it to the second floor, she walked out seeing a girl with blonde hair. "Detective Sullivan, needs to talk to your head guy," she held her badge up.

She nodded going into his office then came out. "He will see you just go right in," she lead her in the office. Leah recognized Spike then noticed the tall guy with brown hair and brown eyes. "Can I help you?"

"Look, I'm not too familiar on what's going on here. They just threw me on this, you guys are under investigation because people said you were evil or have evil spirits here," Leah read her text on her phone.

"Guess they sent someone new, the last policemen wasn't too pleasant. I'm Angel and that is Spike," he introduced them.

"I know Spike, we've been to the bar off and on." She was very familiar with Spike and his bleached blonde hair and long black trench coat.

"You know her?" Angel questioned him.

"I've run into her quite a few times, I don't just sit here watching you mope about. I go out and do things," Spike replied.

Spike had developed feelings for her, realizing he was in love with her, it had been quite some time since he had felt anything for anyone. Buffy was the last person he could remember being in love with. As time passed, he got over her, realizing he was wasting his time over someone that didn't want him.

Leah respected him and didn't turn him away because he was a vampire. Spike appreciated the fact that she treated him like a human. She fought him once and was impressed on how strong he was compared to other vampires. It must had something to do with his age and the older they got the stronger they seemed to be.

"You think these guys are going to sue or press charges?" She asked Angel.

"I got the lawyers involved, we have protection for this company," Angel assured her.

"You're a vampire," Leah was able to figure it out.

"Yeah, how did you figure it out?"

"Instinct. Look, I'll see what I can do but these people apparently are a little crazy. We have them being investigated as well. Maybe their plan will backfire and we will all be out of the ringer," Leah looked up at Angel.

"Let's hope so," Angel said hopeful.

"Hey Spike, I got the night off need a beer?" She asked him.

"I'll meet you there pet," he looked at her.

"It will be dark here in a couple of hours. I'm almost off, nice to meet you Angel," she said leaving the office.

Leah headed home changing into some more relaxed clothes. She thought it would be nice for once to wear normal decent clothes at the bar. Time quickly passed, so she left her place heading up there. When she arrived, she ordered a couple of beers waiting on Spike. Then he appeared behind her as she handed him one. They found a round table to sit at and talk.

"You know I never bothered to tell the police department about vampires and demons. There's no point they would laugh at me. I think the law is oblivious to what else is out there," she explained sipping her beer.

"I'm surprised, I thought the police would already know."

"Nope, then they would cover it up as it was an idiot in a costume." Spike snickered at that a little. He kept his eyes on her watching her. She was beautiful with her blue eyes and long dark hair. It was nice to see her in regular clothes for once.

"Mind if we join you?" She heard Angel's voice.

"This is Wes," he introduced. He looked like an older gentleman in his fifties.

"Nice to meet you," he shook her hand.

"Hi," she said nicely.

They sat down with them drinking their beers watching the people walk past them. "So how long you worked for Angel?" She asked him.

"A good twenty five years," Wes answered her.

She nodded listening still feeling Spike's eyes on her. "Spike mentioned something that you have known him for decades. She looked at Angel.

"Yeah, well it wasn't for any good circumstances, I did so many bad things and got cursed with a soul. Any true happiness I turn bad," Angel explained.

"Wow, I'm sorry. What about you Spike?," Leah asked.

"Vampires don't have souls but I fought for mine and got one. Sometimes I wonder if it was worth it," he sighed.

"Soul as in?"

"Having a conscience of knowing what's right or wrong and self-loathing having a reason feeling bad about yourself." Spike explained.

"What were you like back then?" Leah asked interested.

"A struggling poet, William Pratt, a man who was fixated with the idea of love." Spike explained.

"Things were different back then," Angel looked at her.

"Look, I know this is kinda off the record but I heard slayers were killed off. Well most of them," Leah said bringing the subject up.

"The whole slayer council was wiped out. There are only a handful left spread out," Wes said remembering.

"Not all of them," She said getting up from her chair throwing her beer away. Leah came back to the table sitting next to them.

"What's that suppose to mean?" Spike questioned her.

"Remember when I fought you that time when I first met you." Leah mentioned.

"Yes, I almost wiped you out." Spike said giving her trouble.

"Maybe, I should have wiped you out instead of going easy on you." Spike looked at her confused.

"Still not quiet understanding what you mean pet." He looked at her.

A girl was screaming causing them all to look over. A vampire was getting ready to bite her. People were trying to help but backed away not sure what he was going to do. Leah knew she was still technically on duty. "Hey pal, knock it off," Leah got his attention.

The vampire looked at her throwing the girl on the floor walking towards her. Spike got up ready to help fight if needed. He threw a punch at Leah and she blocked him.

He then started trying to tackle her and she flipped him over knocking him on the ground grabbing a pool stick breaking it in half stabbing him with the sharp end as he wither away. She looked back at Spike leaving the bar walking outside. He caught up with her after seeing what she had done.

"You're a slayer? Why didn't you tell me?" He questioned her.

"Like you couldn't sense it." Leah said not believing that.

"Your right I already knew." Spike already knew trying to play along.

"See?" Leah looked at him.

"You're strong, I'll admit but I think it would have been a tough fight between you and I," Leah looked at him.

"I suppose you're right."
