Disclaimer: I definetly am not genius enough to own Sayid or any other Lost character.
CHAPTER 1:
Sayid gazed up at the stars… well, what he could see of them anyway. The thick jungle brush has made it quite hard to see anything above them, but he continued to stare. One star caught his attention. It was big and bright, but still had a dangerous look, almost like Kate…
He sat up, not wanting to think about it anymore. Why was he so attracted to such a…
"A what?" he asked himself as he rested his elbows on his knees and buried his head into his folded arms. "A beautiful, majestic, wonderful woman?"
"Women are every part of a man's problems."
He looked up to see Charlie standing infront of him, still a couple feet away with a concerned look on his face. He came over and sat opposite Sayid wanting to help the distressed Iraqi out.
"You are still bitter towards Shannon I'm assuming, my friend?" Sayid asked referring to the time Charlie was used by Shannon, who pretended as though she was attracted to him even though she wasn't.
He looked away and sighed. "She wasn't the only woman who's let me down over the past couple of years."
"Yes?" Sayid asked prompting more information, but none came.
"So who is this 'beautiful, majestic, wonderful woman' you were talking to yourself about?" He asked very curiously with a hint of glee in his voice.
Sayid furrowed his brow at him and smiled a crooked, uncontrollable smile. "Why do you want to know?"
"Because there is a girl here who I know likes you."
"Really?!" he bit his tongue for how eagerly he reacted and shunned himself in his head.
"No." Charlie smiled as he was rewarded by a grin by Sayid.
"That was not funny at all." Sayid huffed as he stood up and began to walk away. Charlie stood as well and fought down his small giggle fits behind his hand.
"So, really, who is it?"
"It is not for you to know." Sayid said back behind himself to Charlie. He mumbled, "You probably already know it anyway, though."
"Is it Kate?"
Sayid hesitated but kept his pace straight and his voice calm. "No. Not at all."
"Well, then it's Claire."
"No."
"It ain't that black woman is it?"
"No."
"The French lady?"
Sayid abruptly turned around to face a suddenly startled Charlie. "Leave it alone."
"Why, you are obviously upset about it. Maybe it would be good for you to tell me. You know, let out your feelings once in a while."
Sayid considered and then shook his head. "I don't think so."
"Come on!" Charlie puffed and provided a fake pout to which Sayid sighed and folded his arms across his chest.
"Do you insist on bothering me until I tell you?"
"Yes. Absolutely." Charlie smiled as he looked past Sayid for a brief second.
"It is Kate. I love her with everything that is inside of me and for my life I cannot figure out why."
Charlie gave Sayid a big fat grin, to which Sayid was confused. Charlie nodded his head behind him, signaling for the former Republican Guard member to look back. He did and was met with a smiling Kate who seemed to have a slight tint of red on her face.
"I, uh…" Sayid for once was at a loss for words.
Kate smiled and suppressed a giggle. "You don't need to say anything."
