"Do you James Fraser take Isabella Swan to be yer wife." The priest had arrived at the tavern and was performing the marriage ceremony.
Jamie smiled at Bella. "I do."
"Do you Isabella Swan, take James Fraser to be yer husband?"
Bella nodded. "Yes."
The priest nodded. "Alright. Giver her yer ring lad."
Jamie nodded, reaching inside a pouch on his kilt and pulled out an iron circle ring. He had it made from the key to Lallybroch. It was the only thing that he had that could be made into a ring for her. He slipped it onto her finger and then smiled at her.
"I pronounce ya husband and wife. Kiss yer wife." The priest was straight to the point. He had another affair to get to, so this was a rushed ceremony. He took a step back and then Jamie leaned in, kissing Bella softly. The men in the Tavern hollered ceremoniously.
Jamie then gathered Bella into his arms like he had done the first time he met her in the woods running from Captain Randall. He carried her towards the stairs to the room above, ignoring the men as they whistled and catcalled. Once inside, he carried her to the bed and set her down gently. You could still hear the men being rambunctious downstairs.
Bella giggled a little. "They're excited for you."
"Aye, I have never laid with a woman before…"
"Really?" Bella found that surprising.
"Did ye think otherwise?"
"Well… Angus and Rupert they- "
Jamie laughed a little. "Aye, they're typical brutish Scotsmen. My mother, she taught me to respect women."
Bella smiled at Jamie. She couldn't believe she got married and her mother wasn't here. Her smile faltered and she looked down.
"Bella… what's wrong?" Jamie murmured, reaching over and tilting her face back up. He saw the tears shining in her eyes. "Yer mother…" he said and she nodded. He pulled her into his arms and comforted her. "We will get ye back to yer mother. I promise."
Bella shook her head. "No, I won't leave you." She said and leaned back. "I need to tell you something." She said and stood. She fiddled with her ring on her finger. It fit her perfectly, which was more evidence that she belonged to Jamie.
"Bella, whatever it is, ye can tell me. Nothing will make me turn from ya." Jamie reassured her.
Bella bit her lip and then she went to her bag and grabbed it. She took a breath before she took out her phone. It was the only way to prove what she was about to say without him thinking that she was crazy. "I accidentally ended up here." She said and then she turned her phone on, letting the screen load. She hadn't turned it on at all since she had been there at this time. The battery was at 20 percent, which was impressive. "my mom is Scottish. At least we are descendants of Scots." She said and walked over to him. She swiped through her photo gallery on her phone, finding a picture of her and her mom posing together at the University of Edinburgh when they first arrived. She handed Jamie her phone.
Jamie frowned, his brows furrowed, but he took the object that she was handing him. It had some weight to it when he held it in his hands. The smoothness of the object was interesting. The light that it emitted was more than that of a candle. Though on the device was a painting of Bella and her mother. "I don't understand."
"I'm not from this time period." She paused. "I'm from the year 2022. What you're holding is called a cellphone."
Jamie turned the phone over in his hands, studying it. "Okay. What does it do?" He was curious.
Bella took the phone gently and then turned it over and hit the camera button. She pointed it at him and took a picture. He photographed well, she admitted and it made her smile a little. She showed him the picture she just took.
Jamie took the phone back and studied the picture. "It's me." He murmured. His mind couldn't understand the technology, but he believed her, that she wasn't from this time. "A painting… instantly."
"Yes, it's called a picture. I used it to call people. I didn't have to write a message and send it by courier. I could just send a message right away and the other person gets it. Though… it won't work now because the technology for it hasn't been developed yet." She explained.
Jamie looked up at her. "Yer from a different year. How is that possible?"
"I was staying in Inverness with my mother. She was teaching at the University of Edinburgh. She's a Historian. She's an expert in Scottish history." Bella said and then sat on the bed beside him. "I'm also… studying to be a historian. Scottish history."
"Women go to study?"
"Yes," Bella nodded. "There are many women that have gone to school and become something."
"Yer mother… ye said she taught you Gaelic."
Bella nodded. "Yes. She's a Scottish history expert and that includes the language. She speaks it fluently. She really is Scottish, though my father wasn't."
"Ye never speak about yer father."
Bella swallowed. "My father was killed. He was a cop. Um… like a soldier except he was a chief. Like Dougal. He was like Dougal. He was shot and killed while on duty."
"I'm sorry." Jamie said, frowning.
Bella nodded. "He was the best. He was Italian."
"What?"
Bella smiled a little. "It's another country. They speak Italian. Different language from English and Gaelic. Have you never heard of Italy?" She asked and he shook his head. "Hmm. 1743… Italy would have been… Rome."
"Ah. Aye, Rome." Jamie said, knowing what Rome was. "Yer a history… student."
Bella nodded. "I am. I study Scottish history like my mother. My field of study right now is… now. This time period." She murmured. "Which is why when I went through the stones to this time… I was thinking about the Jacobite uprising."
Jamie frowned. "They teach about the rebellion we haven't even planned when- "
"1746. April… that's when the battle is going to happen. The battle that the Jacobite's lose and Prince Charles goes into hiding." Bella said lowly. "That battle marks the end of the clans in Scotland."
Jamie shook his head and stood. "No, we're strong. We can- "
"Jamie. You can't. King George will have a stronger army." Bella said and sighed. "I know it's not what you want to hear, but that is what happened. Clan Fraser perishes in that battle. That person… is you."
Jamie looked at Bella, seeing how serious she was. "Yer telling me that we don't stand a chance in taking back Scotland."
"I'm telling you that the way Dougal has planned… the way Prince Charles has planned… it won't be enough to win Scotland back." Bella said. "I know I sound crazy and you shouldn't want to be with someone like me. I- "
Jamie went to her, kissing her to shut her up. Her lips welcomed him immediately, giving to him readily and he took it.
Bella's hands moved to his kilt, grabbing the leather straps and unfastening them. His hands moved over her bodice, his mouth hungry against her and before she knew it, he spun her, her back to him then his hands stripped the laces from her corset, unlacing her quickly. It was a longer process, but neither were patient. It made Bella really miss the simple clothing style of the 21st century, but he managed to get her dressed down to her chemise. He cupped her breasts and felt their weight in his hands, his eyes raking up her body until his gaze met hers. She smiled at him and then pulled at his shirt, getting it untucked before pulling it over his head. His chest was hard, muscular. There were a couple scars at his side, but Bella knew that most of them were on his back. She reached over and brushed her hand over his hard chest and he shivered under her touch. Then they were kissing again, their tongues dancing together in a passion Bella didn't even know was possible. He pulled her chemise off as she dropped his kilt to the ground. They were both gloriously naked in the soft glow of the bedroom. It didn't matter what time she was in, she just wanted to be with Jamie.
They stroked each other, taking time to explore one another until they were lying together on the bed, Jamie on top of her. She guided his hard cock to her entrance and he pressed inside. The discomfort ran down her face and he stopped.
"Are ye okay?"
"It's supposed to hurt the first time." Bella murmured and then kissed him, shifting her hips. The pain was over quick and nothing, but pleasure radiated through her now. Jamie thrust inside her, reaching deep inside her with each stroke. It unraveled her inside, sending her into an orgasm that she didn't know was possible. His mouth covered hers, drinking in her moan while he pushed inside her. It wasn't long before he met his end, burying himself deep inside her as he released every bit of his essence. He groaned, leaning his forehead against hers while he got his breath back.
Bella smiled, reaching up and caressing his face with her hands. "I love you, Jamie Fraser."
"I love you too, Bella Fraser." Jamie murmured with a smile before kissing her again.
