Passion of a Slytherin
Draco Malfoy walked along the corridor and sneered at a few Hufflepuff 2nd years that happened to be walking past him. Surprisingly he was alone as Crabbe and Goyle had not finished eating everything in the Great Hall.
Draco had just had another confrontation with the golden trio and wasn't in the mood to deal with any garbage as he found a secluded seat in the library. Presently Pansy pulled up a chair at the same table and began to quietly work. Draco looked over her designer robes and expensive haircut. He even noticed that her hands were manicured and every nail had been buffed to a high polish.
Draco's mother had hands like those. Hands that never toiled in any menial task or house elf work. His mother was a lady. Pansy had gone to the same Academy for Well Bred Witches. It gave them poise and taught them how to make their husband's feel like kings in their own homes.
Draco's father had taught him from a young age that a well bred lady was of pure blood and from a good family. She would be bright, but not so smart that she felt she was more intelligent than the man she married. The senior Malfoy had been quick to explain the trappings of an uppity woman. A Malfoy never married beneath his station.
This year there was to be a ball in honor of the Tri Wizard Tournament. Malfoy had already considered all his options and decided now was a good time to state his intentions.
"Pansy do you have a moment?"
Pansy looked up and gave Draco her most charming smile. "Of course Draco."
"My father has informed me that this year the school is to be sponsoring a ball. I would consider it a pleasure to escort you to the event." Draco said in a cool formal manner that would have made his father proud.
Pansy smiled at the surprise of the ball. Her parents had not been aware of the events planned for this year, though they had been aware that something was planned. Pansy and her mother had made a trip to France to purchase the latest fashion in dress robes for whatever the event.
Pansy knew her parents would be pleased with a pairing between their family and the Malfoy's. She was sure that his was one of the few families that had the gold necessary to keep her in the style her parents had made her accustomed to.
While Draco was waiting for an answer Pansy glanced over his expensive robes and family jewelry. She thought he was fairly attractive and that would add to appearance of them as a couple. Rich or not she would never be seen on the arm of an ugly man. Yes Draco would fit her needs nicely.
"Why Draco, I'm honored that you would choose me for this exciting event. I would love to be your date for the ball. I also believe that our parents would be thrilled at such a match."
Draco smiled smugly, knowing that he just secured a date with a pureblood that his father could be proud of. He gave her a brief nod of acknowledgment before returning to his studies. Pansy went back to hers as well.
Both thought to themselves. 'That's the one I'm going to marry.'
