Sweet Sapphire
By Emerald Riddle 2004
I watched her tears as they fell. I watched her scream. I watched her yell. I watched her in silver, in gold, in red. I've seen her in green, I used to want to see her dead.
She looked so pretty in her sapphire dress. She looked so pretty, yet she was a mess. I watched her twirl. I watched her dance. I watched her laugh and laugh and laugh.
Her hair wasn't fit, not for me. But then she changed it. Now it's more fit than me. I watched from afar, then teased and teased. She's never known... never known about me.
I walked pass her the other day. She smelled like strawberries, like that one day... in the sapphire dress she stayed. Her face was perfect, like it always was, her teeth were nicer and I knew it because...
I asked for a dance, but she ignored me that day. I've never cried for a girl, it's not fair this way. I followed her around and tried to be nice, but she glared at me and left. Left me alone with the mice.
Do you know how I feel? All this insanity is real. Doesn't she see how I feel? All this pain and regret is real. I call her my sapphire, not a diamond or pearl. She's prettier this way, even though it's not real.
It's all a dream.
It has to be.
These feelings are true but in my mind I try to say, it's a dream. It has to be.
It's a dream.
It has to be.
I write her name with mine in notebooks, Hermione and Pansy it says. I draw her face on my walls, I cry her name in my sleep, I stare at her at lunch.
But I know it's all a dream.
I'll wake up soon because it has to be.
Then my sweet sapphire will have to leave me.
Please wake me.
Please wake me.
The feelings aren't real, these feelings aren't real, wake me up before I fall into insanity.
Please wake me.
Shake me awake, tell me this isn't real.
I'm dreaming.
I'm dreaming.
But I know I won't wake up ever again.
My sweet sapphire, you'll shine in my eyes forever and ever. My sweet sapphire, you'll haunt my dreams every night when I close my eyes. My sweet sapphire, my sweet sapphire, my sweet sapphire, you might never notice the way I feel, but I'll dream about you and that will make it real.
The End.
