DISCLAIMER: I own nothing, just my crazy ideas.

In less than a microsecond, David was in a garden. He looked at his feet. Now it turns out that he was being thrown from God knows where but he always landed on his feet. Maybe he should change his name to Garfield.

He wandered around the garden for a few more minutes. It was beautiful. There was a gazebo near the pool. There were also two swings, a see-saw and a red slide. Flowers of every color adorned every corner.

The person who lived there may have had many problems. But none of those problems were economic.

He cautiously approached the house, wondering if he could be seen by living humans.

He twisted his face. The dogs could surely see him. That obnoxious white Chihuahua kept barking at his feet.

"Jeez, shut up. You're giving me a headache and I'm already dead."

A little dark-haired girl came running out of the door that connected the house to the garden. She looked about five.

Dave stood still. Maybe if he didn't move, that tiny dog would stop barking and the girl wouldn't get the scare of her life.

"Come on, Sissy. Stop barking."

He held his breath as the little girl spoke to her barking little demon.

"Jack is studying in the kitchen" she commented as she lifted the dog off the ground"If you don't stop making a fuss, you'll get scolded."

The girl was not even aware of his presence, even though he was just a step away from her. Other humans could not see him. David released the air he was holding in his lungs.

That made him frown. He was dead. More than dead. He was already six feet under. Why the hell was he still breathing?

Nothing made sense in that story. No, he must have been dreaming. Or in a coma. Or maybe he was in a mental institution and all that shit was because of his drugs.

He sat on a white wooden bench in front of a pond full of fish.

"¿Rossi?"

His old friend's voice startled him and caused him to jump a little.

"Good thing I can no longer have a heart attack.

The other man looked at him, his eyebrows furrowed in a gesture of utter confusion.

Dave watched him sit next to him, his brunette hair sticking to his forehead. He was wearing a white tank top and black shorts. So he was still keeping in shape. Good idea. Maybe then he wouldn't die of a heart attack like he did.

"How did you find me?"

"Why can you see me?"

Rossi raised his hands "I'm older. And I'm dead. So, you answer me first."

His friend looked at him sideways, his lips forming a thin line. It had been years since he had heard from Dave Rossi. Maybe he wasn't right in the head. But still... How had he managed to find him? No one knew where he had moved to live.

"Stop talking bullshit, Rossi."

The older man got up from the bench and stood in front of him. "No bullshit. If you'd come to my funeral, you'd know."

He then gulped. "I'm sorry, Aaron. I should have called you before I died."

Aaron remained immobile like a marble statue. But now his mouth was ajar and his eyebrows were raised higher than ever. That was undoubtedly the surprise of his life

"¿And why are you here? Shouldn't you be-" he interrupted himself and moved his hands around, trying to look for a reason "-somewhere else?"

"Aaron, seriously, do I look like I want to be here?" David began to make gestures with his face "I just died, what do I want to do? Ah yes. Of course. Go to Aaron Hotchner's house and watch the fish swim in his pond."

The other man narrowed his dark eyes. Maybe he was dead but his sarcasm was still very much alive.

"Are you really dead or are you just pulling my leg?"

David gave him a smirk.

"Or maybe I'm a Apocalypse horseman whom want warn you of what's coming."

Aaron folded his arms and sank a little deeper into that bench. It was unbelievable. The man's mental fortitude was something extraordinary.

"You just died" he said without looking away from his former partner "Aren't you sad?"

His mouth curved into a wide smile.

"No. I think I've lived the way I've wanted to. I've made some people happy. I had a beautiful daughter. I saved some lives. I'm happy with the life I've led.

Aaron nodded, still looking straight ahead. It didn't make any sense. He was talking to the spirit of an old friend.

He just hoped it wasn't a hallucination.

"What are you doing there?"

That female voice brought him out of his reverie. He looked at his wife and then at David. The ghost shrugged his shoulders.

"I'll be right in, honey. I'm getting some fresh air."

She looked at him quizzically from the kitchen doorway but turned around and walked into their house. Aaron could guess his smirk even without looking at his face.

"I expected that from Derek Morgan, but not from you," the man whispered with a frown, feigning annoyance. "Shame on you, Agent Hotchner. How could you marry a subordinate?"

Aaron looked at him with his right eyebrow raised.

"Drop the drama, Rossi. You know perfectly well Emily was no longer working with me. Rather, I wasn't working with her."

The older man nodded weakly. In the end, only JJ had stayed by his side. All his other little birds flew away. David understood them but at times, only at times, he felt abandoned by them.

All of them were young. Their lives were just beginning while his was getting closer to the finish line every day.

Still, he couldn't help but miss all those scoundrels.

"¿Are you having problems with your teenager?"

Aaron sighed deeply. David took that as an affirmative answer.

His friend's gesture remained serious, cold as an ice tempane. He didn't know what his confession would be but he could swear on his soul that Aaron had the words stuck in the middle of his throat.

"¿How old is Jack?"

"Eighteen. He has had a girlfriend for five years"

"Sure he looks just like his father."

Both men smiled. Jack was always special to David. Aaron had to leave under the witness protection program, thus severing all ties that bound him to the team.

His heart broke a little that day. Hotch was a great friend and Jack was a light that brightened his dark days. That boy's smile gave him the strength to continue hunting monsters.

Dave frowned-what could be so serious? He was just a kid, after all.

Aaron rubbed his face. Apparently, he was having a really hard time.

"His girlfriend is pregnant. Emily doesn't know anything yet. I don't know how to tell her without giving her a heart attack."
