In just one day Libby had made herself an outcast.

It was during a group activity, she and her classmates were separated and had to learn their partner's name and something about them

She had been paired with a girl with brown hair, her name was Andrea, however she pronounced it On-drea, Libby had got it wrong once but Andrea said it okay if she didn't do it again.

It was strange, but Libby brushed it off, however when during the moment they talked to the class she called her Andrea again.

The looks of fear on her classmate's faces had surprised her, she wondered what could inspire so much dread in that many people.

She turned around.

On Andrea's face was a look of fury.

Now it was play time and no one wanted to play with her, she wasn't exact great at playing with others, but she was willing to try, However when ever she went to ask if she could join in, they turned her away, whenever someone tried to explain why, she could tell they were looking at Andrea.

Right now she was sitting alone by some building blocks, waiting for someone to pay attention to her.

No one came.

She had messed up already, why couldn't she be like her mom, one of the sweetest women in town.

What was wrong with her?

She felt the tears well up in her eyes, was she going alone forever?

The answer to that question came in the form of a building block flipping itself over.

Libby turned around, was there someone who wanted to play with her?

No one was standing there.

All of a sudden another blocked flipped over near the first one.

The letters on both blocks spelled out the word HI.

Libby looked around.

"Hello," she said to the air.

A few more blocks flipped over spelling out the word NAME.

"My name's Libby." she said interpreting the message.

The blocks flipped again, a block on the other side of the room was dragged over and stopped by the other blocks.

This time the blocks spelled out a name.

MOLLY.

This was confusing, but that's when something entered her mind.

Molly was an angel.

She had heard so many stories about angels, clearly that was the only thing Molly could be.

Libby was quiet, when all of a sudden the blocks flipped over again, PLAY.

Looking around Libby tried to see something they could play with, there was a pathetic looking ball, walking over to it, she picked it up, it was soft, it was clearly losing air.

She walked back to the blocks and rolled towards the blocks.

The ball stopped mid-roll, and the rolled back towards her, Libby caught it and rolled it back, this was weird, but Libby didn't care, there was some who wanted to be with her.

They did this for a few minutes, Libby asking Molly questions and Molly responding in a limited fashion.

"Where do you live?"

HOME.

"Why are you here?"

PLAY.

"Why are you playing with me?"

YOU SAD.

"Are you an angel?"

YES.

Libby smiled, She had a friend, maybe things wouldn't be so bad.

They spent the rest of play time playing until story time, with a smile on her face, when she left she looked back to the classroom and smiled "Bye, Molly see you tomorrow."

She didn't see Andrea glaring at her.

This continued on for a month, Libby would spend her lesson time alone, then during playtime she rush over to the blocks and would play with Molly, No one seemed to notice Molly really, but that was okay with Libby, maybe it was shellfish, but Molly was her angel.

She'd ask questions and Molly would respond, Sometimes Molly would ask a question and Libby would respond.

They were weird questions like What did it feel like to be hungry? What was it like to be tired? What did people do in the bathroom?

They did other things, sometimes Libby told Molly stories from the books. (Libby was told she could read at a third grade level, which both she and her mother we're proud of.) and other time they would build together, it meant Molly couldn't talk, but that was fine.

Then one day something went wrong.

"What are you doing?" said an angry little voice.

Libby froze, she turned around to see a brown haired girl in a blue skirt and pink shirt saying number 1 diva.

"A…ondrea." said Libby meekly.

"Who are you talking to?" Said the other girl with a snotty voice.

"Mol… Molly."

"Who's Molly?" Andrea asked mockingly.

Libby swallowed, "She's my friend."

"You don't have any friends," Said Andrea with a smirk.

"I do," Said Libby upset.

"Really? Where is she then?"

"She's here, she's just…"

"Invisible?"

"No, she's an angel," said Libby hoping that would make Andrea stop.

Andrea's smile grew wider, "An angel, what are you stupid?"

Libby felt tears in her eyes, "I'm not stupid."

Andrea walked around her with a smug aura.

"Really? Then where is Molly?"

"She's here, She talks to me through the blocks."

Andrea looked at the blocks, "You're crazy."

Libby closed her eyes, trying to not cry, "Show her Molly."

They both stared at the blocks, the whole class had gathered around them, Andrea smiled as they did so, Libby prayed that someone would help her.

The blocks didn't move.

"Molly, show her," said Libby starting to sound scared, why wasn't she helping her?

Andrea laughed, "she's not real," to twist the knife a little bit further, she kicked the blocks away.

She turned to Libby again and with a cruel smile she looked at her, "You're a crazy friendless weirdo who nobody likes."

Libby was just stood there upset, Why wasn't Molly helping her, Where had she gone.

Andrea started to laugh and everyone around her joined in.

Libby couldn't stay here anymore, she ran out of the door to the playground and kept running.

Andrea smirked, Libby was upset again, and thing were perfect, that would teach her to get her name wrong and then be happy.

She walked to the table where some kids were painting, as she sat down and reached for a tube of paint it.

However, something happened, it flew out of her hand and hit the table, then something invisible slammed the tube and the pain flew out of the tube and hit its target.

The next thing Andrea heard was laughter, she looked in a mirror and screamed she was covered in blue paint.

She looked around trying to look threatening to make people stop, but that was hard to do when she was blue in the face.

No one noticed some blocks fly out of the room.

Libby ran to the only tree in the playground. It was planted in a weak attempt to make the playground feel more natural, it was a sickly little thing which barely counted as a tree. Just looking at it made people feel sad.

Libby ducked behind the tree and just cried. Wallowing in her sadness, Molly had abandoned her, why?

That's when she heard the sound of a blocks landing next to her, she turned round and the message made her angry.

R U OK

"NO," Shouted Libby, who kicked the blocks away from her, "Why didn't you help me."

There was no response.

Libby just got angrier, "Well thanks Molly, Everyone's going to think I'm a weirdo now."

She crawled herself into a ball and wept.

"I don't think you're a weirdo," said a voice from behind her.

Libby turned around to find the source of the voice.

There was none.

Suddenly, the air started to shimmer, something yellow started to appear, it had a body and a face but no legs, its hair was short and loose, but the thing she really noticed was the ashamed look on its face.

"Molly?" said Libby shocked.

"Hey," said the thing.

Libby just stood there wondering what to say.

"You're not an angel, are you?"

Molly shock her head, "No, sorry for lying it's just… you looked sad, and I'm not supposed to tell anyone who I am."

"Then what are you?"

Molly looked down ashamed, "I'm a ghost."

Libby stood there looking at her, She had read a few ghost stories, Heck a few of them were about nice ghosts, but still this was strange, she needed to know more.

"Why me?" she asked.

She watched as the ghost rubbed her arm,"Because you looked lonely, I know how that feels, I'm not supposed to be here, I'm usually just listen to the teacher and stay invisible, My dad says I can't reveal myself to humans."

Molly turned away, "I'm sorry. I'm not a good friend, I won't bother you anymore."

Libby could tell the look on the ghost's face, it was loneliness, the same look she had before the first block landed behind her.

The ghost flew a few inches away when Libby shouted. "Wait!"

Molly turned around and looked at Libby

"Don't go, I still want to be your friend."

"Really?" Said Molly shocked, "after how I-"

"You're lonely, and you didn't want to break your dad's rules."

She raised her arm and placed it on Molly's shoulder, only for it to go through it, she imitated that smile her mom used when she forgave Libby for doing something wrong.

"I'm sorry I shouted, can we still be friends?"

Molly's face exploded in joy, "YES." She shouted in joy and hugged her best friend, Libby was shocked just how tight it was.

"So you want to roll the ball or…" started Libby.

"Nah, I think we can paint."

Libby looked shocked, "But Andrea-"

"Is feeling rather blue right now, she's not going to want to paint right now." Said Molly laughing.

Libby turned back to the class, she could see the teacher who had now returned was being shouted at by Andrea, who was covered in paint, Libby couldn't help by smile.

"Come on." said Molly taking her hand, "Let's see If we can draw each other."

She ran with her new friend, she might still have to deal with Andrea, but she wouldn't do it alone.
