Fade Into You
Disclaimer: I don't own the characters and the song is Fade Into You by Mazzy Star. This is my first BB/Raven fic and all criticism/reviews/whatever else you feel like giving me is appreciated. I was experimenting with this story in that I only wanted two lines of dialogue, though I'm not quite sure I succeeded. None the less thanks for reading
They had left for the evening, Starfire and Robin on a date, Cyborg to meet Jinx. Beast Boy and Raven had both surprisingly opted to stay in, but the others hadn't questioned it. So there they were. Beast Boy was playing a game, while Raven read a book. They both occupied the same room and the silence between them was pleasant, rather than oppressive as a casual observer might have made it out to be. If Beast Boy was honest with himself he would have noticed that his eyes spent more time looking at Raven's still frame on the couch rather than the television screen.
I want to hold the hand inside you
I want to take a breath that's true
I look to you and I see nothing
I look to you to see the truth
He focused on her eyes, turned down onto the page. They were so full, dangerous and deep. He looked back at the game so as not to be noticed and saw that he had lost another life. He shrugged, he had beaten the game twenty times already so a loss of life wasn't anything major to him, especially when considering the reason he had lost a life to the game. When had this started? He had thought her attractive when he met her, but to...think her beautiful.
You live your life
You go in shadows
You'll come apart and you'll go black
Some kind of night into your darkness
Colors your eyes with what's not there.
It was something that had been growing inside of him and it didn't show any signs of stopping. He would be consumed by it, he was sure of it, and the thought brought him happiness.
Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew
Raven didn't know how many times she had read the same line over and over again in her book. She couldn't concentrate on her book with him staring at her like that and she wasn't sure how much longer she could hold her smile back. She had always dreamed of being loved by someone she admired and she saw it in his eyes. She saw adoration and care and honesty, the look excited her. 'Don't act like some little girl Raven,' she coached to herself, hoping that the happy terror didn't show on her face. She felt the warmth in her stomach spread out through her. How much longer?
A stranger's light comes on slowly
A stranger's heart without a home
You put your hands into your head
And then smiles cover your heart
Beast Boy saw he had lost another life and he smirked. 'I'm giving up,' he thought and turned off the game. He walked over to the couch, calmly took the book out of her hands and offered her a smile. She offered him her arms, which he took and helped her to her feet. She still stood two inches taller than him, as she had when he was 15 and her 16, and he didn't mind the stretchwhen he lifted his head ever so slightly to place a kiss on her lips, as he had done so many times before, and she returned the kiss with all she was just as she had so many times before. When the kiss ended, he looked at her and she at him. They searched each others faces and wondered how the other had become more beautiful to one another over time and they smiled and Beast Boy kissed her again and murmured into her ear, "I think it is time for bed Mrs. Logan." She smiled at him and said, "I think you're right."
