Wait and Wait and Wait
It was a rainy night in Paris. It had been years since the city's heroes had soared through the streets, defending the people and fighting against Hawkmoth. Most Parisians believed Ladybug and her teammates would never return, but some still had hope. And even fewer were still working, in the shadows, to resist Hawkmoth and his allies. Those who were in-the-know listened for un update on the banned podcast/radio broadcast, Miraculous Watch
"Welcome to all members of the resistance tuning in tonight. This is Miraculous Watch, and I'm Rena Furtive. Our next update will be in ten days, and the password to access the podcast will be Marseillais. Please keep this password secret and only amongst those loyal to the fight against Hawkmoth. Since he has gained influence in the government and media, it is becoming more and more difficult for us to continue broadcasting, but never lose hope! We will broadcast Miraculous Watch until the day Hawkmoth is finally defeated.
"It is with great sadness today that we are remembering the second anniversary of the passing of Paris' great hero, Viperion. He fought bravely by Ladybug's side for six long years, and saved the lives of countless Parisians. However, on this day, two years ago, he sustained a direct strike from the villain Cat Noir's power, cataclysm , and lost his life.
"After his passing, Parisians and French citizens across the country poured into the streets to mourn him, and show solidarity in the continued fight against Hawkmoth and his allies. Even in the wake of her close partner's death, Ladybug continued to defend Paris against akumatized villains and sentimonsters for six more months, until she was injured and had to go into hiding to protect her miraculous from falling into the hands of the villains and giving them the ultimate power.
"Since Ladybug's disappearance, Hawkmoth has resorted to exerting power in alternative ways. He has gained influence in not only the French government, but the EU parliament and European Commission as well, and is even suspected to be influencing NATO policy and defence decisions. Those of us who still support Ladybug must do so in the shadows, but we have not given up on her.
"While it is no longer safe for us to make a public demonstration celebrating Viperion's life, we ask that everyone keep Viperion, and his family, in your thoughts and prayers tonight."
Alya had wanted to include a moment of silence at this point, but she knew her broadcast needed to be as short as possible. People were risking their jobs, freedom, and in some cases their lives to support this cause, and could not risk listening for any longer than necessary, lest they be caught or tracked.
"Now for our news update. While it is well known that Hawkmoth regularly uses the miraculous of the butterfly, the peacock, and the dragon to exert his control over the city, we have received new intelligence that he may be using the miraculous of the pig to influence the media and social opinion of him. This miraculous was lost in battle almost three years ago, and is designed to have the power of Jubilation; however, we suspect Hawkmoth has spent this time corrupting the miraculous in order to leverage its power to make people hear what they want to hear in the news.
"It is still believed that both the horse and black cat miraculouses are still in Hawkmoths possession, but are damaged, as neither has been used in public for several months.
"I know at times like these, this fight may seem bleak, but I implore everyone to never give up hope. Hawkmoth feeds off of negative emotions, so as long as we stay positive and have hope, he can never truly win. Ladybug is not gone. She will return one day, and when she does she will need Parisians on her side to fight the good fight. We may have to wait and wait and wait, but Ladybug will always come back to save the day.
