Mass Effect

This story will feature male Shepard and Miranda Romance however they meet long before the events of mass effect 2, this story will also feature Mass Effect Two and Three as for one he basically made all Paragon choices, maybe a few renegade ones important moments will be mentioned in this. Also Shepard won't have a 'class' presay but a mixture of them he will mainly be a Infiltrator but trained in all weapons and a little bit of engineer mixed in as well.

I will also be rewriting parts of it and adding some of my own characters including Jane Shepard as his sister.

The Story will be featuring the main missions as well as some side missions but not all there will also be 'breaks called interludes where Shepard will be talking to his crew or 'doing the rounds' and will be showing the emails and writing replays for them, it always annoyed me that he never replayed.

So to some it up this will be a retelling of Mass effect one and two there will be some changes to the story as well as some dialogue

Chapter One: The Birthday

Year 2172

John Shepard was walking along the streets of Brisbane arm in arm with his beautiful girlfriend Miranda Lawson; they were going out to a restaurant to celebrate his 18th birthday and his enrolment into the Alliance Navy . He looked at her, her long black hair tied into a ponytail and smiled.

"You know Miri you really don't have to take me out for dinner I would be happy simply staying in." Miranda smiled and shook her head.

"Johnny let me spoil you a little, okay?" she asked John sighed admitting defeat

"You win, could never say no to you anyway." Miranda smiled again knowling, John loved that smile he would do anything she wanted so long as he could see it.

They were heading to a new restaurant called Starlight. Apparently it was high end and really hard to get into, John wondered how she got a table.

"Must have used her fathers connections," he thought.

"Not even my mother could get a reservation in here." he pondered, Miranda just smiled and said nothing.

They got to the restaurant and were shown to a table that was near a large window that showed a spectacular view of Moreton Bay. An Asari waitress walked over, surprising both John and Miranda.

She handed them the menus smiling.

"Hello I'm Vis'lira Gaderia and I'll be your waitress tonight."

"I didn't know there were Asari living in Brisbane." John said bluntly. Miranda kicked his foot underneath the table.

"Hey!" John yelled while Miranda just glared at him after a few seconds he dropped his gaze.

"Sorry." He muttered defeat and Miranda smiled in victory. Vis'lira laughed.

"No harm done my boy, I live here with my bond mate, a human." She said smiling, leaving them alone to go over the menus, a few minutes later when they found what they wanted John caught her eye and waved her over placing their order. While they waited for their food John and Miranda just held hands looking into each other's eyes smiling. John was going to say something when suddenly the whole building shook and the windows from the glass were blown inward. Throwing himself over Miranda to shield her, John felt several pieces of glass strike his back, he gasped with pain.

"John!" Miranda yelled. John rolled over groaning as a dropship hovered just outside the now broken window, its side door opened and four batarians jumped into the building. Shooting their Terminator Assault Rifles into the air to cover the dinners and staff into submission. One of them armed with better armor walked over to John looking down at him with his four eyes and smiled although it was devoid of any warmth. He touched an earpiece.

"Got the target." Before suddenly striking John hard on the head with the butt end of his rifle. Before he blacked out all he could hear was Miranda screaming next to him.

"No!" Shepard yelled as he woke up in a cold sweet, suddenly remembering that he was on the SSV Normandy SR-1 his ship he sank back into the covers thanking the lord that his cabin was sound proof.

"Another nightmare." he thought to himself. He thought that with the death of Sovereign and Saren he would get some peace of mind but with the Council declaring Sovereign a Geth supership and forcing him out to the Omega Nebula to patrol for Geth apparently some Council ships have gone missing in the area. He took out an old locket that had a picture of Miranda when she was 18 laughing at something he said. He smiled at the picture. It was the only thing to remember her by, that and the nightmares. He didn't know why he only dreamed of that day and not any of the other countless memories he had with her. Putting the locket back into its drawer he got up and left to get some water. A few hours later he was still up and cleaning his armor. It didn't really need cleaning but he needed the distraction. Suddenly the alarms flared red alert.

"Joker! What's going on!" He yelled into his earpiece a second later Joker responded.

"We're under attack, don't know what not Geth!" Formerly he had plenty of practice getting into his armor quickly clipping on the helmet the HUD booted up

"All systems green sir." Athena his armor VI said.

"Pirates" Shepard thought but then doubted himself the stealth systems were engaged no way they had a ship that could detect the Normandy. Suddenly they were hit by a powerful blast almost turning the ship apart. Shepard knew instinctively that they needed to abandon ship.

"Joker abandoning ship gets everyone to the Escape Pods." Shepard quickly put his armor on and everyone was running in a panic, Ashley stumbled but Shepard caught her and gave her a shove towards the stairs.

"Get going, I'll be right behind you."

"Aye Skipper." Ashley said, running towards the stairs. Shepard ran to his locker and grabbed his sword and slipped it in its sheath on his back and Colt 1860 Army revolver, a family heirloom that had been in his family since the American Civil War and amazing still worked with bullets that he himself made and the only thing he had of his fathers. He ran after Ashley, stopping to activate the emergency locator beacon letting the Alliance know where the ship was. He ran to the nearest Escape Pod Ashley was outside helping the crew in when she saw him she yelled.

"Shepard Joker won't leave the bridge." Shepard swore underneath his breath, throwing her his revolver he took off running towards the bridge.

Joker! Get your ass to the Escape Pod now." Over the introcom he could hear him muttering.

"Come on baby hold it together hold it together." Shepard wasn't sure if Joker even knew he was broadcasting it.

Reaching the top of the stairs the door opened to reveal a sight that tore at Shepard's heart. The roof of the CIC was blown apart revealing a fantastic view of a green planet although Shepard couldn't be bothered to remember the name.

"Air supply at 10%" Athena reminded him

Shit Shepard thought he hadn't yet refilled his supply.

Painstaking slow because of the sudden weightlessness and the antigravity boots activating. He finally reached Joker

"Joker, we have to leave now." Shepard rushed to his side but Joker refused to move.
"No, I can still save her!"

"Normandy is lost, don't throw your life away." Shepard responded that he could see that his words affected the pilot.

"Fine lets g.'' They were interrupted by another blast of light as Normandy was hit again, throwing Shepard into Joker's chair. Shepard grabbed Joker's arm none too gently.

"Watch the arm!"

He half dragged half carried Joker to the bridge escape pod fortunately there was no one in it. Shoving Joker into the pod Shepard took one last look around, the Normandy was shot again by that blast of light and the explosion caused Shepard to lose his grip on the railing he floated out back into the CIC seeing the release to the Escape Pod light up.

"Shepard!" Joker yelled seconds before Shepard hit the release causing the Pod to close and fly off into space. Shepard floated out into space, something slammed into him causing his air pipe to burst.

"Shit sorry Miri I won't be seeing you after all I hope you're alright." Was the last thing John Shepard thought before his vision dimmed and all went back.

Authors Note:

Hope you guys liked the first chapter very keen to see where this story reads. As I said I've made big changes with Miranda and Shepard also it was pointed out to me that Miranda was older then Shepard so I'll simply say in this fic she is the same age.

So a few changes to the game Shepard has a Sword which is basically a Bastard Sword if you don't know what that is it's basically a big sword. And he has a Colt 1860 Army revolver. I don't know if the bullets would be able to get through the futuristic shields or not but I don't care. And his armor has a VI in it will be explaining more about how and why in future chapters
