"Bye Girls, have fun!" "Bye Mum, Bye Bluey, Bye Bingo!" Bandit and Levon said waving as Chilli, drove off with Bluey and Bingo in the family car, the Red Jeep becoming smaller and smaller until it turned left out of the Cul-de-Sac neighborhood. "Alright Mate!" Bandit said clapping his hands together in excitment. "We got the house to ourselves, what do you want to do first?" He asked turning to Levon. "Uh... I don't know, what do you feel like doing?" The Grey Wolf replied shrugging his shoulders. "You wanna watch Cricket with me?" Bandit suggested. "Sure, I'd like that." Levon replied with a smile. "Then, maybe we can throw the Rugby Ball around afterward if you want?" Bandit suggested to which Levon smiled. "I'm up for doing anything, as long as we get to hang out together." the Grey Wolf replied as Bandit smiled and both of their tails started to wag.
Later on, the father and son were seating on the couch eating a bowl of corn chips and drinking a couple cans of Ginger Beer. So far the Cricket Game on TV was going good, at least to Levon's understanding whenever he would glance at his father who was smiling as the game went on. "Come on...how's that LBW?" Bandit asked very confused at what just happened. Levon quickly glanced at his father before glancing back at the TV. "Dad?" Levon asked turning his head to him. "Yeah mate?" Bandit replied still looking at the TV. "Is your team winning?" Levon asked as he tilted his head in confusion. "Well, so far Queensland has been doing pretty good against London." Bandit replied.
"Oh okay." Levon said satisfied with the answer his father gave him and continued to watch the game. "Do you understand what's happening?" Bandit asked turning his head to the Grey Wolf. "I'm trying to Dad." Levon replied with his ears folded back as he began to feel he was disappointing his father. Bandit then wrapped his arm around his son. "Hey, it's okay mate. I'm just glad you're here watching the game with me." he said with a smile. Levon looked up at his father before he perked up and smiled. "Thanks Dad." he said as him and his father continued to watch the Cricket Game.
After the Cricket Game ended with Queensland winning by one point. Bandit and Levon went out to the backyard and began throwing throwing the Rugby Ball around. "So, how are you liking your new school so far?" Bandit asked as he threw ball to his son. "It's been great, I've gotten to know Chelsea, Peter, Summer, and Millie during my first week!" Levon replied with a smile as his tail started wagging. "Way to go mate! You made FOUR friends and in a few days!" Bandit said with fatherly pride in his tone.
"I'm so proud of you Rockstar..." the Light Blue Heeler father of three said with a smile. Levon grinned upon hearing those words from his father. "Thanks Dad..." he said as he threw the Rugby Ball back to him. "Oy Bandit!" A voice called out to the father son duo. Bandit and Levon turned to see their next door neighbor, Pat Retriever with his son Lucky poking his head over the fence that divided their properties. "Hey Pat! Hey Lucky!" Bandit greeted them. "What brings you out this wonderful morning?" He asked as him and Levon walked over to the fence.
"Well Janelle and Chucky went to a play date and me and Lucky have the house to ourselves." Pat explained as he ruffled Lucky's hair. "Oh what a coincidence, Me and Levon have the house to ourselves as well." Bandit replied. "We were in the throwing the old Ruby Ball around, would you want to join us?" He asked tossing the ball into the air. "What do you think Lucky?" Pat asked turning to his oldest son. "Yeah Dad, I definitely up for that!" Lucky replied as his tail wagged. "Alright, Let's do this!" Pat said hopping over the fence as Lucky followed behind. "Yeah!" Levon as he ran into the yard as Bandit threw the Ruby Ball to him, to which the Grey Wolf caught it. "That's my boy, way to go son!" Bandit exclaimed with fatherly pride. "Thanks Dad!" Levon replied with grin before he threw the ball to Lucky.
A Couple of Hours Later,
Levon and Lucky sat on the grass in the backyard with their fathers, relaxing after the game of catch with the Rugby Ball. "That was fun Dad!" Levon said with a grin on his face. "Yeah it was!" Lucky said agreeing with the Grey Wolf to which their fathers smiled, happy that their sons had fun. "Glad you kids had fun." Bandit replied with a smile. "Come on Lucky, we need to get those chores done before your mum and Chucky get back." Pat replied as he got up and stretched. "Okay Dad, thanks for letting us play catch with you and Levon Bluey's Dad!" Lucky said waving goodbye to Levon and Bandit as the little Golden Retriever followed his father back to the house.
"So, what do you want to do now Dad?" Levon asked turning to his father. "I think let's just lie here on the ground and relax." Bandit said as he lied on his back, "I'm okay with that." Levon replied as he joined his father and lied opposite of him, both looking up at the late afternoon sky. "Hey Dad?" Levon asked as he continued to stare up at the clouds. "Yes mate?" Bandit asked. "Do you think that if you and Mum didn't adopted me and I got adopted by another family, me and Bluey would have best mates?" Levon asked tilting his head to look at his father.
"You're already her and Bingo's best mate Levon, but to answer your question. Yes, I think so." Bandit replied. "Oh okay." Levon said satisfied with the answer he was given. "When did I start calling you and Mum.. well Mum and Dad?" Levon asked. Bandit smiled upon hearing the question, "That's is a very easy question to answer and I remember that day like it was yesterday, " Bandit said with a smile as he began to remember the day his son called him Dad.
"It all began on a sunny morning a couple days after we visited your Grandad Mort..." Bandit began.
2012, a week after Levon was adopted by Chilli and Bandit.
It was late Monday morning at the Heeler Household, Bandit was in his study typing away on his computer for work when Chilli walked into the room. "Bandit?" she asked before her husband turned to face her. "Hey Babe, what's up?" He greeted her with a smile. "I got called into work, Marge needs me to cover for her because her cousin is having a baby." Chilli explained as she put on her Airport Security shirt. "Can you watch Levon until I get back?" she asked. "Sure Babe, I can do that. Bandit replied with a smile, "Levon honey, could you come in here?" Chilli called out to their son.
"Coming Miss Chilli!" Levon replied as the sounds of his little feet could be heard running until the Grey Wolf Pup stopped as he walked into Bandit's study. "Did you need something Miss Chilli?" Levon asked. "No sweetheart, I just need to tell you something." Chilli replied with a smile as she bent down a little with her hands on her knees to talk to Levon. "Oh?" Levon asked tilting his head in curiosity.
"Is it about your shirt?" He asked noticing her work shirt. "Yes honey, I got called into work and I have to go. But in the meantime, you're gonna hang out with Mr. Bandit until I get back." Chilli explained as she picked up and held him at her hip. "What is it you do your work?" Levon asked looking up at her. "I work Security at the Airport, I make sure people come into and leave Australia as safely as possible." Chilli explained. "Do you have to arrest bad people?" Levon asked. "Sometimes I do, but not that often." Chilli replied when Levon suddenly hugged her stomach.
"Aww, sweetie don't worry about me. You're Mum's tough!" she said with confidence."I don't want you to get hurt, I love you very much Miss Chilli." Levon said as he rested his head on her chest. Chilli's eyes then began to well with tears upon hearing those words. "Oh no, Miss Chilli I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry!" Levon said in a panic as he tried to wipe the tears from her eyes "Oh honey I'm not upset, it just feels so wonderful to hear you say that you love me..." Chilli explained with a smile.
"I really do love you Miss Chilli, you and Mister Bandit take really good care of me and I don't want anything bad to happen to you both." Levon said. "And we love you too honey." Chilli replied as she started to kiss him all over his face, to which Levon would giggle at the barrage of affection he was receiving as a result. "I promise I'll be back soon, you and Mister Bandit will have fun together. Right Babe?" Chilli asked turning to her husband as she placed their son back down on the floor.
"Absolutely, I just got to get this Email written and sent to my boss, shouldn't be much longer." Bandit replied before he went back to writing his email to his boss. "You go ahead and play in your room until Mister Bandit's finished okay sweetheart?" Chilli said looking down at Levon. "Okay Mrs. Chilli, please come back safe." he said as he hugged her leg tightly. "I will sweetie." Chilli said before giving the Grey Wolf Pup a kiss on the cheek before she walked up to Bandit. "Promise me you'll do something with Levon." she whispered in his ear as he turned to look at her. "I promise Babe, we'll have a very fun day together." Bandit replied with a smile. Thanks Babe, you boys have fun!" she called out to them as she walked away. "Bye Miss Chilli!" Levon said as waved to her as she went down the stairs and the sound of the front door closing could be heard.
Bandit continued to type on his computer until he sensed he was being watched, he turned to see Levon sitting on the floor and watching him. "Do you need something mate?" Bandit asked. "No Mr. Bandit, I'm okay." Levon replied as he sat on the floor and watched his father as he worked. "Are you sure? It'll be a little while before this Email's done, wouldn't you want to play in your room until I'm finished?" Bandit asked more confused at his sons decision. "Am... am I bothering you?" Levon asked with a worried look. Bandit then fully turned his chair around to fully face the Grey Wolf Pup. "Come here mate." Bandit said with a smile and his arms reached out.
Levon then slowly walked towards him before Bandit picked him up and placed him on his knee. "Don't you EVER think you're bothering me or your mum Levon, I love you both very much and we love you very much." Bandit explained before hugging his son tightly. "If you want to watch me then I'm okay with that." he said before looking down at his son. "Okay Mr. Bandit." Levon replied before Bandit continued to type his Email with his son watching him as he sat in his lap.
Eventually, Bandit finished typing the last word before sending his email to his boss. "And finished." Bandit said feeling satisfied with the work he had done before looking down at Levon, "Sorry that took so long mate, I just had to get that thing done and sent for my boss." Bandit explained feeling guilty. "It's okay Mr. Bandit, I understand." Levon replied looking up at him. Bandit smiled before ruffling the top of the Grey Wolf Pup's head. "Come on squirt, let's go to the Playground." he said getting up holding his son at his hip as they made their way downstairs.
Later on, Bandit and Levon were walking down the sidewalk towards Bus Stop since Chilli had taken the family car to work. "Let me know, if your legs get tired of walking kid." Bandit said looking down at his son as he held his hand. "I'm okay Mr. Bandit." Levon replied looking up at him as the pair continued their way to the Bus Stop. "Morning Bandit!" Bandit turned to see his friend, Rocko. "Oh hey Rocko!" He greeted the White, Brown and Dark Brown Basset Hound. "You're up early." Rocko said surprised to see his friend up this early, "Oh yeah, Chilli had to run to work so me and Levon are going to the Playground." Bandit explained.
"Who's Levon?" Rocko asked raising an eyebrow in confusion. "Oh that's right, I didn't tell you... Well Rocko um... me and Chilli adopted a kid and..." Bandit trailed off before turning his head and looking down at his son. "Rocko, this is my son Levon." Bandit said introducing the Grey Wolf Pup. "Well hi there, it's nice to meet you Levon." Rocko said with a smile waving to him. Levon nervously hid behind his father's leg, not sure about this stranger that was talking to him. "It's okay mate, Rocko's an old friend of mine. I've known him for years and I promise he would never hurt you." Bandit explained trying to reassure Levon.
The Grey Wolf Pup looked up at his father before walking out from behind his father's leg. "Hi Mr. Rocko..." Levon said sheepishly greeting the Basset Hound with a small wave. "Me and Mr. Bandit are on our way to the Playground." Levon explained. "Ooo, that sounds like fun. I better let you both go then, See ya Bandit!" Rocko said as he went on with his jogging. "See ya Rocko!" Bandit said as him and Levon continued onto the Bus Stop. "Hey mate, I noticed you were acting really nervous around Rocko." Bandit said looking down at the Grey Wolf Pup. "Oh... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to embarrass you infront of your friend." Levon replied with his ears folded back. "Levon, it's okay to nervous around people you don't know. I promise me and Mrs. Chilli would never allow anyone to get near you that made you uncomfortable. We love you very much." Bandit explained as he kneeled down and rubbed his foster son's back. "I love both of you too Mr. Bandit." Levon said with a smile as he hugged his father's stomach. Bandit smiled as he hugged the 3 year old gently.
Later that day, Levon and his foster dad arrived at the Playground only to notice that it was full of kids playing on everything on it. "Woah, didn't realize that it would be full today." Bandit said surprised before looking down at Levon who was hiding behind his leg. "It's a little bot crowded isn't mate?" Bandit asked him with a small smile. Levon looked up at him and nodded in agreement before he felt his foster dad's hand gently ruffling his hair. "It's okay, I know a spot where it isn't as crowded." Bandit said as he gently took his sons hand and lead him through some bushes. "Mr. Bandit?" Levon asked looking up at the Light Blue Heeler. "Yes mate?" Bandit asked. "Are you sure it's safe?" Levon asked unsure if going through the wild fauna was a good idea or not. "Yeah it'll be fine, I use to Come here when I was a kid." Bandit replied as he placed Levon on top of his head and carried him through the Bushes.
Levon looked on in wonder as he saw all the trees that towered over him and his father, the Bushes that were prickly. "Wow... this place is amazing Mr. Bandit!" Levon said as his tail wagged against his foster dad's back. "Woah, check it out squirt!" Bandit said pointing to his right, Levon looked to see a Spotted Python sunbathing on a rock across from them. A running stream was all that separated the father and son duo from the serpent. "We better not bother him." Bandit said as he continued down the stream, leaving the snake to sunbath in peace.
The father son duo stopped at some bushes, "Alright mate, are you ready to see The Creek?" Bandit asked to which Levon nodded his head in anticipation of the reveal. The foster dad pushed the bushes out of the way to reveal the Creek, a beautiful stream of water with alot of stones. "Wow... this is beautiful Mr. Bandit..." Levon said in awe at the sight. "There's a nicer bit just up ahead, let's rock hop it up!" Bandit said as he held the Grey Wolf Pup's hand as they jump over the stones in the Creek.
Levon giggled as they both hopped from one rock to another. The father-son duo arrived at a little waterfall that was between two big rocks. "We're almost to the Creek kiddo, we just have to jump across this little waterfall." Bandit explained before jumping across the stone on the other side. "Come on squirt." he said trying to get Levon to jump across the gap, Levon looked down at the waterfall and then back at his foster dad. "I don't know Mr. Bandit, it's really far." Levon said with his ears folded back in fear. "It's okay mate, I'll catch you." Bandit said kneeling down and clapping his hands together, showing the Grey Wolf Pup that he would catch him. "Do you promise?" Levon asked looking at him uncertain, but then saw his foster dad smile at him. "I promise son, do you trust me?" Bandit asked. Levon pondered the question for a moment before looking into his father's eyes. "Yes Mr. Bandit, I trust you." Levon replied. "Okay Levon, ready?" Bandit asked as he stretched his arms out to catch him. "Ready..." Levon replied before backing away from the edge and then running as fast as his little legs could carry him before jumping.
Bandit then quickly caught him and held him at his hip, Levon clung to his father's chest as his eyes were shut tightly. "It's okay mate, I got you." Bandit said as he rubbed his son's back. Levon opened his eyes and looked back at where he had jumped before realizing he had made it across the waterfall. "I-I made it?" he asked looking up at his father. "You sure did, you little Rockstar." Bandit replied as he hugged him close to his chest, "I'm so proud of you." he said as Levon looked up at him with tears in his eyes. "Y-You are?" Levon asked as his tail wagged wildly, to which Bandit nodded in head. The Grey Wolf Pup then hugged his father tightly and began to sob into his chest, "Hey, it's alright." Bandit said as he comforted his son as he felt his fur started to dampened before Levon looked up at him. "I'm sorry." he said sniffling as wiping his eyes with his hand.
"It's okay to cry mate, it's natural." Bandit said with small smile. "It was just felt really nice when you said you were proud of me." Levon explained. "I am proud of you and I always will be." Bandit said as he placed him down beside him and held his hand. "Come on, the Creek's not too far now." he said as they continued to the Creek. Eventually, the father-son duo finally arrived at Bandit's childhood spot. "Here we are, I haven't been here since I was about... Six years old actually." Bandit said as he looked at his son. "Wow..." Levon said as he looked at the shallow pond that was created from the Creek. "So what do we do here?" Levon asked looking up at his father. "Well, you just do whatever you want to do mate." Bandit replied as got in the water and began splashing around. "So... I'm allowed to get dirty?" Levon asked as he glanced down at the water before looking back up at his foster dad. "Yeah squirt, it's okay if you want to." Bandit replied with a smile. "Oh okay." Levon replied as he joined his father in the water. The little Grey Wolf looked down at his feet through the clear water and saw Tadpoles nibbling at his feet. "Hehehe, these little fellas are nibbling at my toes!" Levon said giggling. "Boy, they sure are." Bandit said with a chuckle.
An untold number of hours went by as Levon and Bandit played at The Creek, Bandit looked up at the sky and saw the sun was beginning to set. "Oh wow, we've been here for a long while. Come on Levon, we need to start heading back home." Bandit said turning around to his son who was wobbling side to side and his eyes were drooping as he struggled to keep them open. "Oh wow you're really tired, aren't you kid?" Bandit asked as he picked up Levon. "A little bit." Levon replied as he rubbed his eye. "Can we come back here again someday?" He asked looking up at his father. Bandit looked down at his son with a smile, "Of course we can mate." Bandit replied as continued walking.
"Okay." Levon said before snuggling close to his father's chest, "Thanks for taking me..." Levon said as he was drifting off to sleep. "You're the best Dad..." Bandit eyes widened in shock and disbelief upon hearing those words, he wiped his eyes that were flooding with tears before continuing out of the wooded area and back onto the now empty playground. He looked at him and his son, knowing they were both covered in little sticks, leafs, and bits of mud. "Looks like we're gonna have get cleaned up and check for ticks too mate." Bandit said quietly to himself as he carried his son to Bus Stop as the sun continued to set.
"That was the best day I ever spent with you." Bandit said with a smile as he looked at Nine year old Levon. "Wow, so if that was when I called you Dad. When did I call Mum Mum?" Levon asked tilting his head in curiosity. "It was actually later that same day, we had just gone to bed..." Bandit began.
Chilli and Bandit lied in there bed asleep after a long day, when a sudden loud bang awoke Chilli from her slumber. She looked to see a Thunderstorm had rolled in and bean to rain outside. She looked to her husband who was surprisingly sleeping through the noise, Chilli shook her head somewhat impressed of how much of a heavy sleeper Bandit was. She got up out of her side of the bed and went to go check on Levon. She opened their bedroom door to reveal a paid of glowing yellow eyes staring at her, Chilli jolted back before realizing who the pair of eyes belonged to.
"L-Levon?" Chilli asked wanting to be sure, "I-I'm sorry, I-I tried to stay in my bed, but the Thunder was really l-loud and it hurt my ears." Levon explained as tears flowed down his cheeks before being picked up by Chilli. "Oh sweetheart come here, it's okay." She said as she rubbed the Grey Wolf Pup's back. "Can I please stay in your bed until the storms over?" Levon pleaded looking up at her. "Of course honey." Chilli said as she kissed the top of his head. "Thank you Mama." Levon said as he cuddled close to her chest. Chilli smiled as tears of joy welled in her eyes. "I promise I won't annoy you and Dad." Levon said as he wiped his eyes. "You could never annoy us, you're our son and we love you very much." Chilli replied as they got into the bed with Levon lying in between his parents. "That's right mate, if you ever get scared you can always come to our room... just be sure to knock first." Bandit added with a small blush. Chilli rolled her eyes at husband before rubbing Levon's back and began singing an old nursery rhyme.
"Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, Merry merry king of the bush is he, Laugh Kookaburra, laugh Kookaburra. Gay your life must be. Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, eating all the gumdrops he can see, stop Kookaburra stop Kookaburra, leave some for me." Chilli sang softly as she gently rubbed her sons back, seeing as he had now fallen back asleep. She smiled and kissed him on his cheek before pulling him close to her chest and eventually falling back asleep along with Bandit.
"So... that was when I called you guys Mum and Dad?" Levon asked as his father finished telling his story. "Yep." Bandit replied to his son with a smile. "Wow..." Levon said as he looked back at the story of being adopted, to the story he was just told. "So what did you want to do now Dad?" Levon asked looking at his father. "We should go get Dinner started before your Mum and your sisters get back mate." Bandit said as he got up from the ground. "Okay, can I help?" Levon asked as he followed his father inside the house. "Of course you can." Bandit replied before they went into the Kitchen.
After the Father-son duo finished making dinner, Goulash with big macaroni noodles. They sat down on the couch while the stew cooked in the slow cooker. "Hey Dad?" Levon asked turning to look at his father. "Yes mate?" Bandit asked turning away from the television. "How... How did you know you were in love with Mum?" Levon asked. "Well... I just knew right when I first laid eyes on her at that Caravan Park that I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life." Bandit explained with a soft smile. "Why do you have eyes for someone?" He asked raising an eyebrow at his son. "Uh..." before Levon could answer the front door opened to reveal Chilli, Bluey and Bingo. "We're back!" Chilli said as she placed the car keys on the key bowl. "Ooo, Dinner smells great boys!" she said sniffing the air. "Me and Dad made Goulash." Levon replied as he got up and hugged his little sisters.
After Dinner, Levon was cleaning the dishes and loading them into the dishwasher when his mother walked up to him. "Honey, can me and your father talk to you?" Chilli asked her son. "Oh um, sure Mum I was finished anyways." Levon replied as he sat back down at the Kitchen table across from his parents. "What did you guys want to talk to me about?" Levon asked looking at his mother and father. "Well mate... since you've always helped out around the house and helped us with your sisters..." Bandit trailed off before looking at his wife. "We figured since you're responsible that we should get you something REALLY nice." Chilli explained as she pulled out a small white box that was the size of Levon's hand and slid it across the table.
Levon opened the box to reveal a cell phone, one that was just like his father's only with a Grey case. "Wow..." Levon said as his eyes widened in excitement and his tail began wagging. "Congratulations kiddo, you're now the proud owner of a Cell Phone." Bandit said with a smile. "This is so awesome! Thanks Mum and Dad!" Levon said getting up from his chair and hugging his mother and father. "You earned it sweetheart." Chilli said hugging her son tightly. "I promise I'll take VERY good care of it!" Levon said before grabbing the charger plug and the charging cable from the box and ran upstairs. "I think we made the right call giving him a cell phone right?" Chilli asked looking at her husband. "Yeah I think we did." Bandit replied as they got up went upstairs to get ready for bed.
Later on, Levon lied in his bed after telling his sisters good night, he looked at his new phone that sat on his night stand on its charger. "I wonder if I get Peter, Millie, or Summer's phone numbers when I see them tommorow... maybe I can even get Chelsea's phone number..." Levon thought to himself before a huge blush came across his face upon thinking of the Grey and Brown Coyote. "I can't wait to see them again..." Levon said to himself before turning away from his phone and closing his eyes and drifting off to slee excited to see his friends again at school tommorow.
