Lily stood looking in the mirror of her Ravenclaw dorm. Tonight was the night of the Yule ball, the most glamorous event of the school year where they could get dressed up in the most beautiful outfits and dance the night away - almost like a muggle prom.
Lily donned a strapless blue sequinned gown that was tight in down to her hips, enhancing her curves. She didn't have a date to the Yule ball tonight, instead she and her friends decided they'd go and party together. They wanted to enjoy it without any boy drama before they had to knuckle down and study for their OWLs.
Lyra squealed as she walked into their dorm "Oh my gosh, Lily! You look amazing!"
"Thanks" Lily replied. "I'm not sure how to have my hair though. Do I do a soft up-do or leave my natural waves?"
Lyra pondered for a moment to properly think about the options. Lyra Nott was Lily's best friend since first year when they were both sorted into Ravenclaw. They were both in a house with none of their family so they made their own within Ravenclaw. Both families were tight within Hogwarts but when you're alone in your house it's always good to have a second family. Lyra had opted for a tight up-do with her long black hair draped down her back. "Natural, less effort. Plus, those natural waves shape your face so well."
Lily let her shoulder length, firey red hair drop from the up-do she was holding it in. "You sure?"
"Certain." She smiled "Where are those other 3 clowns?" Gesturing to the other three beds in the dorm "They said they were going to be ready about 7 and it's already half 6"
"Jess said the lighting was better in the toilets near the tower. Ella was trying to cram some last minute revision in at the library this afternoon and probably lost track of time. Lucinda was here ten mins ago but she's just returned some books to the library. They're due tomorrow and she doesn't need that looming over her head tonight apparently. Hopefully she will remind Ella what time it is while she's there!" Lily laughed.
"Well let's hope she's got Ella running back because we need to be ready for photos at 7! I want to remember this night forever!"
Just as Lyra finished speaking Ella burst through the door closely followed by Lucinda, Ella clearly out of breath having run up the stairs to the Ravenclaw tower. "How long have I got?" She puffed with a slight panic evident on her voice.
"30 minutes El, you better be fast at getting ready!" Prompted Lily.
Ella dashed out the room with her wash bag hoping she would have time to wash her hair. Ella Jameson was a half-blood but had been brought up in a wizarding family as her muggle dad left when she was 2. She was very hard-working who dreamed of working as a healer after graduating in two years. However, timekeeping was not her specialty.
After a hurry to get ready and take as many photos as their cameras would hold, they were ready to leave for the Yule Ball. Standing anxiously at the doors to the great hall as they opened automatically. The great hall looked to be almost a different room with ice blue walls, circular tables and chairs had replaced the long house tables and benches and the ceiling had changed pastel blue with a ribbon effect to make it seem as if they were in a ballroom. The girls had made sure they got a table to themselves so they could talk between themselves about the dresses, the suits and all the other gossip that came with a Yule ball.
Jess broke the figurative ice as soon as they sat down "How do all the guys look so different in their suits? It's almost the same as their uniforms and yet they all look so handsome compared to when they're in classes." She whined.
"Jess, we're not focusing on guys tonight" Lily retorted. "This night is supposed to be for us!"
"I know! But Alex Tanner looks so hot with his black 3 piece suit and sea-air curls" Jess drooled.
"Can anyone remember what food they ordered?" said Lily trying to change the conversation "It was so long ago that it went in I have no idea what the options were."
"It's under your name card. You don't need to remember, you just need to read" Lyra winked.
The girls carried on talking about anything and everything until their food arrived - all knowing that the one thing they wanted to talk about was the one thing the promised they wouldn't talk about. Boys. The change from shirts, ties and robes, to shirts, ties and a suit jacket seemed to change the girls opinion on so many of their classmates. The Ravenclaw friends wanted to enjoy themselves as a friendship group tonight and let any selfish boy be a distraction to them.
Once they'd eaten Ella went to get them all drinks. Hogwarts had a strict 'no alcohol' policy (much to some teachers dismay on a Friday night) but the drinks were exotic enough to be exciting anyway. There were so many colours and flavours to try. They started with a drink called 'Raven's ice' to toast to their house for bringing them together as friends.
"To us" they shouted and giggled together just before the took their first sip.
"Ew what's that, bubblegum?" Jess said as she pushed her glass away.
"It sure is!" Lucinda said with delight "Can I have yours if you're not drinking it?"
Jess nodded trying to figure out the best way to get the bubblegum taste off her tongue - water as the only thing available and would have to do.
As they drank, Professor Longbottom started the music for the evening. They were hoping for a band or a DJ but Professor Longbottom had put together lots of music to try and replicate a DJ the best he could. This would do Lily guessed. However her ears pricked on the second song - it was a muggle song but it was their late night jam. Shake it off by Taylor swift.
"Guys! This is our jam!" Lily squealed as she dragged them all to the dance floor. Each girl knew their routine by heart as they'd danced to it many times in their dorm room over the years. When it got to the bridge they all brought as much sass as they sang
"My best man brought his new girlfriend, she's like oh my god, I'm just gonna shake it to the fella over there with the hella good hair, won't you come over baby we could shake, shake, shake"
The friends laughed as they came together into a group hug. This was the moment Lily would remember most about tonight, and the night was only just beginning. The girls continued on the dance floor dancing together for hours hoping their night wouldn't end. After two hours of dancing Ella suggested they take a breather and get more drinks. Lily was quick to agree, feeling very warm and parched from so much dancing.
They found a table to sit and drink to catch their breath, no talking was needed at this moment as they all smiled. This night was everything they had wanted it to be. Soon the tone of the music changed to more slow and romantic the friends made a pact that if they were asked to dance they could go since they'd had hours of fun already to remember. This was alluding to the fact they knew they were a sucker for a guy in a suit - though none of them would say such a thing out loud.
One by one they all got asked, leaving just Lily by herself. Lily remembered the moment Alex had come to ask Jess to dance and had a giggle to herself. Jess had practically melted on the spot. Quickly Lily was brought out of this memory as she felt the presence of someone behind her "On your own tonight little potter?" Scorpius teased.
Scorpius Malfoy; 6th year, Slytherin and Lily's brother Albus's best friend.
"I'm just waiting for the right wizard to come and sweep me off my feet" Lily joked. She'd never really paid much attention to Scorpius before as he was always Al's best friend but tonight Lily noticed his strong muscular arms and his sleek blonde hair as he pulled a chair beside, but slightly behind her.
"There have been many a wizard ask you to dance in the last 30 minutes. You've declined them all." Scorpius pried.
"Have you been counting?"
"No."
"Are you certain?"
"Yes."
Lily tried not to blush. She was trying to keep herself focused, after all he was Al's friend. But those arms… Lily's mind kept drifting, she was a sucker for a muscular body.
Scorpius whispered into her ear "What would you say if I asked you to dance, little Lily?"
"No" lily replied quickly trying to hide how flustered he had suddenly made her.
"Are you sure? You seem a little flushed" Scorpius pestered as he trailed a single finger down from Lily's neck to her hand.
Lily moaned at the feeling of his hands trailing her.
Scorpius didn't need a verbal response. He took Lily's hand and dragged her to a dark corner of the dance floor away from her friends. The song when they stepped onto the dance floor was upbeat and bouncy, but it suddenly changed to a more slow and sensual song bringing them close into a hold together. Lily was able to feel his muscular shoulders with her arms around his neck. She felt herself blush as he brought his hands down her to the lower of her back leading her in dance with each step he took.
'He's definitely done this before' Lily thought as she let herself glide around the floor in his arms.
Scorpius snapped lily out of her dream whispering "You couldn't expect me to stay away with this dress on tonight"
Lily felt as if she was in a dream. Was he really flirting with her?
"You've definitely grown this term Lily. You've got more fire and much more feminine" he continued as they danced around the floor.
Lily was stuck in a daze, what could she say back to that. She'd definitely grown more curves since she was last year but she didn't think anyone had noticed. "When did you learn to dance?" Lily deflected awkwardly.
"I don't." Scorpius said "I can feel the rhythm and follow it"
"Oh" Lily had never thought of it that way. She'd learned to ballet dance as a young witch but had never paid too much attention to feeling the music.
They danced for a while in silence, just holding each other as they glided across the dance floor like they'd been dancing for years.
Eventually Scorpius broke the silence as he whispered "I know you deflected my statement earlier. But I stand by it, this dress makes you look amazing little Lily."
Lily had to think about her next sentence. Did she want to continue this and flirt with him? After all he had all the muscles Lily could dream of and the blonde floppy hair that Lily didn't even know she liked. But he was Al's best friend and that could complicate things a lot. Lily decided to go with her heart, her brother would have to figure it out. "Thank you, this tight shirt definitely shows off those quidditch muscles you've got" Lily whispered back with a hum.
"So you checked too?" He winked
"Maybe, muscles are a weak spot of mine" She wasn't going to give her other weakness away to him but she'd let him have that one so he might think he's got a chance.
"I could show you more muscles if you like. There's more to a beater than shoulders"
"If I say yes, where would we go? No way am I going to the Slytherin dorms and risk seeing my brother"
"Your brother is a bit preoccupied over there with Hannah" They looked as Albus was making out with Hannah Jones, 6th year Hufflepuff in the corner of the hall. "And no, definitely not the Slytherin dorms. I know somewhere a little more private" Scorpius teased. "Being a prefect has its advantages you know."
"Show me" Lily said seductively "But if it's a broom cupboard I'll be out of there before you even show me your shoulders" she laughed.
Scorpius rolled his eyes as he grabbed her hand and led her out of the great hall. Lily felt a pang of guilt leaving her friends but just as she left she caught the eye of Lyra who winked knowingly with a cheeky grin on her face. Lily knew that meant tomorrow she would be quizzed with questions - but in the moment that didn't matter.
Scorpius led them through the corridors of Hogwarts careful to avoid other students on his way to the prefect dorms. These were individual rooms for when a student had finished their prefect duties later at night and needed a rest away from their dorm. Lily had forgotten about these dorms, Albus had briefly mentioned them and his excitement to get a nights sleep without his friends snoring. She followed Scorpius through the entrance into the tower and into the first door on their left. As soon as the door shut behind them Scorpius stepped close to Lily colliding his lips with hers, all the tension built up being released. Keeping her close, Scorpius held her with his strong arms.
After a moment of enjoying his soft lips, Lily pushed him away "what were you going to show me?"
"Are you sure you could handle me, little potter?" Scorpius pouted seductively
"Try me"
He raised his eyebrows as he begun to remove his tie and then start of his shirt buttons - 'They really weren't designed for nights like this!' thought Scorpius in frustration.
Lily was making a mental note of his muscly hands as he undid his buttons. His weights training was clearly working. Finally he undid the final button and threw his shirt to the floor. It was more than Lily had dreamed of, his chiseled chest and toned abs was enough to make her feel flushed all over.
"Like what you see, little Potter?"
"Well I did say my weakness was muscles, Malfoy. You've definitely brought enough to entice me" She hummed. Lily stepped forward to trace her hands down his muscular shoulders and arms. "Definitely more than enough" she whispered as she brought her lips to meet his once again. Slowly Scorpius brought his hands to the zip on the back of her dress, slowly undoing it. Lily didn't care in the moment, she was too busy exploring Scorpius' chest with her hands. As the dress dropped to the floor Scorpius stepped back to admire the view in front of him. Lily stood there in just her panties - her slim, athletic figure with no bra to cover her breasts. He lowered his hips towards hers to grind and tease her a little more. But Lily was getting impatient, she slowly slid her hands down Scorpius' muscular back down to his boxers. Lily had a myriad of thoughts flying through her head including 'Is this a one night thing or more? What will my family say? What will Albus say?' But that would have to wait as she felt sleep creeping up on her.
"Goodnight my Lily" Scorpius whispered.
That phrase made Lily melt into his embrace even more, she had a million questions to ask him. Those questions would have to remain unanswered until morning, for now Lily smiled as she fell asleep into the warm muscular embrace of Scorpius Malfoy.
