A Promise
They were everywhere. The smell of blood hung to his nostrils as well as the orcs filth. A small cry was heard to the left and he turned just in time to watch in horrer as and arrow was shot from its bow. Pain shot through him and he gasped in surprise. He glanced at Merry and Pippin to see the horrer written on their face. Determantion in his eyes, he swung his sword and contiued on.
"I promise I'll return," The words flashed through his mind as the second arrow hit him. He fell to his knees in pain.
"How do you know? What if…?" Boromir shushed her with a kiss. He could see the scene plainly in his minds eye. With a cry he leapt to his feet and lashed out in every direction. Another arrow hit him. Silently he fell hardly seeing as the two Halflings where carried off.
"I love you," he had whispered to Arien as he held her close breathing in the fresh scent of flowers that she always seemed to carry with her. Beautiful Arien; her long flowing golden hair falling about her; blue eyes full of tears. Those beautiful sky blue eyes.
The Uruk-iah was closer now, pulling the arrow back for the final blow.
"Will you always return to me?" she had whispered clinging to him.
"Always; I promise," he whispered hoarsely kissing her again.
The orc was about to release the arrow.
A promise so easily broken.
Authors Note: I have been getting reviews that say its a good story, but they didn't like the part about Arien. The whole story is about what was on his mind as Boromir died! Number two, its not a Mary-Sue. I didn't even know what a Mary-Sue was. I had to ask a friend. Arien is just pretty, thats all. Now that we have that taken care of, how do you like the story?
