Faith and Hope

The Battlestar Galactica, the last of her kind floated in the empty silent darkness of space. All was quiet aboard her as were the other refuge ships in the Galactica's care. It had been a day since the destruction of the 12 Colonies. The crew of each ship was slowly grieving for their losses of friends and families.
Commander Adama, stood in his quarters shaking hands with President Laura Roslin, who only a day prior had been the Secretary of Education for 12 Colonies. " I'll think about it." Adama replied while shaking Pres. Roslin's hand. "You do that Commander". Roslin replied and then let go of Adama's hand. She walked to the hatch of his quarters, turned and smiled at him. Adama remained silent, as she closed the door. Adama then went back to picking up his quarters, most of his book collection had been knocked to the floor, during the recent battle with Cylons.
He noticed that his leather-bound copy of the book The Sacred Scrolls was on the floor under his table. As he picked it up, he felt the texture of the cover. This copy was old and had not been opened for a long time. Adama sat down with the book. He took off his glasses and ran his hand through his hair. He put his glasses back on and sat back. He opened the cover of the book, and saw the inscription, that was written there.
' To LT. Adama may the Lords of Kobal give you hope and faith, as you fight the Cylons.' Signed Your Commander Magnus, CO of the Battlestar Galactica.
Adama smiled to himself as he thought of his 1st CO, not only was he the CO of the Galactica, but he practically was a father to Adama. Hope and Faith.
Hope he had given at the memorial service for the dead, when he lied about knowing the 13th Colony location. The location was not known, but he might as well read up on it. If he was to have faith in himself, because now he had to give hope to others including Lee and Kara.
