Chapter 1
"What to get, what to get…"
Suiryu was out on his own, in the village below the domain in the mountains, the people here are rather pleasant and are not constantly in his face like out in the big cities. Then again, half the time, Suiryu forgets to use jujutsu on his face so no one would notice him. Here though, people know who he is… most of the time.
He was just shopping about for various things, at the same time, strongly considering some options as to what to do next.
He has the ring.
But now, he wants the prefect time, place and setting to propose "It should be a grand event… everyone will know I'm off the market… but what event…" he muttered to himself.
"I told you before, we are not selling our farm!"
He paused as he heard a commotion. In fact, this has been happening often in these parts. A shady businessman has been coming here oddly enough, trying to buy up the farmlands and the surrounding area.
"We're going to make this place a tourist attraction, but we don't want these dingy farms all around here, we want to modernize it!" the man protested. "Besides… we already put leans on the lands… not just yours either!"
"That farm has been in my family for generations! You cannot just take it from us! And the leans are fake, we don't owe any money!"
The businessman smirked. "Then take me to court… if you can afford it!"
That was it, wasn't it? These assholes come in to put leans on lands that they want, making the farmers take them to court, only to bankrupt them in the process…
"We will see you in court then if there is no other argument…" the man left snickering. Knowing the farms here are small and they make enough to pay their bills and make a living… but this… this is down right dirty!
The farmers had gathered, realizing the ploy rather quickly. "We cannot afford the court fees let alone a lawyer…" said one.
"I know… we have to try, we can't lose our farms!" said another.
Suiryu decided to step in, he cleared his throat rather loudly and got their attention. "Hey… heard about what's going on… can I help?" he asked.
They were taken aback by his offer. "Really? Thank you but… we don't know how you could. This man wants to take us to court over our land, he knows it's expensive for us… we would have to sell the farm just to hire a lawyer!"
"Or… hear me out… we get the money for a lawyer another way… for example… who lives near the Sukuna temple on the other side of the mountain?" he asked.
Three farmers put their hands up. "Do you have anything growing right now?"
"No, the fields are not in use,"
"May I rent your farmlands for a concert?"
"What?!"
"Well, this is rather ironic if you consider it. I'm the led singer of a band. We go by Ryomen Sukuna."
The moment he uttered those words, the farmers froze. "It's a sign…" one whispered. "Sukuna has come to protect us once more…"
Suiryu had to bite his tongue on that.
"Ahem! So, let me call some people up, if you are all okay with that? I'll put on a show and have all proceeds go towards your fee to get that asshole off your backs. Sounds good?"
They paused, and hesitated a little.
"What?" Suiryu asked.
"We… we have no way of paying you for this or even thanking you properly…" one said meekly.
Suiryu waved it off. "You guys, I know you provided some of your best produce for a friend of mine. Yua Tooru, right?" he asked of them. They nodded. "She had a healthy baby, and you didn't have to do such a kindness for her. I am merely returning the generosity shown to my friend, she's very much like a mother to me."
They were stunned by this, but still hesitated. "I don't need anything from you guys, just keep doing what you are doing. You also give my big bro Sanso a place to work and learn. He didn't know anything about farming until you taught him. So another thing I need to repay"
Slowly, he wore them down until eventually, they agreed.
He smiled to them before getting on his phone. "D'angelo…" he said.
"Suiryu, my dear, how are you!"
"Peachy, but I need to ask a favor of you. I need to put on a massive concert in the middle of nowhere… pretty much where I am calling home now. So, I was wondering…"
"I have a production crew set up and already on their way to meet with you. I'm made calls for advertisements already… you were suppose to do a show sooner than later, but, why there?"
"I have a debt to pay, as well, a greedy lawyer or real estate agent to put in their place. They are putting leans on the land of farmers since they want it…"
"Say no more. In fact… honey, leave advertising to me."
Suiryu smiled wickedly. "No problem. When we are ready to set up, I got the perfect roadie to help us along…"
"Perfect, I'll come see you in a few days!" With that, the conversation came to an end. Suiryu turned to the farmers and smiled. "I hope you like alternative metal music… and have a lot of visitors…"
They couldn't speak. "How… how can we thank you?"
"You already have, and besides, this is gonna be fun for me too…"
