AN: This story was a completed story when I first wrote it. I recently edited it and changed a few things (12/6/14). As of now I don't have any plans to continue or write a companion piece but that may change. As always, reviews are greatly appreciated.

She was nervous. She shouldn't be, it was just Angel, but it had been two years since they had last spoken. This was harder then she thought it would be. The slayer shook her hands in hope it would make her nervousness disappear.

It didn't.

Buffy chuckled to herself, she could take down a horde of demons with confidence but seeing her ex made her a wreck.

She leaned against the rails at the dock. Buffy closed her eyes, taking a few breaths. The smell of the ocean was strong, it was comforting. The warm night air blew gently through her long blonde hair. She opened her eyes, the moon was bright and full. The night was beautiful.

She was contemplating leaving. Maybe this was a horrible idea. Maybe she should change. What if he wasn't interested? What if they were too different now?

'Too late.' Buffy thought as she felt a familiar tingle run up her spine. She couldn't help but smile as she turned around.

There he was in all his glory. He was beautiful and tan. She knew he had been granted his Shanshu, but knowing and seeing were completely different. Her slayer senses kicked in, he smelled a little different, amazing all the same. He wasn't demon anymore, but he didn't smell quite human either.

"Buffy." He said in a husky voice.

She smiled. God she missed hearing his deep, rich voice.

"Angel." She greeted him, meeting his eyes.

They stared at each other for what seemed like hours. Both taking in the sight of the other and speaking without words, just emotions.

They weren't sorry, not anymore, life was too short to carry. Everything happens for a reason. They both survived.

Buffy took a step back, breaking the intensity of the stare.

"You're shaking." Angel commented.

"Nerves." She replied with a smile.

Angel nodded and withheld a chuckle. He was nervous too.

"It's been a while," Buffy said. "It's comforting but a little weird."

"That it is." He agreed, his voice sounded unsure.

'Unsure of what?' Buffy wondered. 'Me? This meeting? It being comforting or weird?' She exhaled and shook her head a little. She needed to get these doubts out of her head, she knew better. He had met her for a reason.

Angel noticed her thinking face. He looked at her, curious. She looked at him, as the wind blew, they each caught a whiff of the others scent. It drove them both up a wall.

"I've missed you." Buffy said camly.

"Me too." He replied cooly.

"Everything has changed." Buffy said, not really looking at him.

He nodded in agreement, "It has." Angel responded, catching her eyes this time. "But it's exactly the same."

Once again they found themselves gazing into each other's eyes. This time neither could break the spell of their love. They didn't want to.

Within seconds Buffy was wrapped in Angels embrace in a heated kiss. Their tongues dueled passionately together. It'd been too long since they had felt the others love.

Finally they broke apart, but continued hold each other.

"Angel?" She asked.

"Shh..." He instructed her. "Let's go home."

The slayer smiled. Together they were strong. He accepted her back into his life.

The two walked silently towards Angel's car. Another strong gust of wind flew by them. Angel's nostrils caught the whiff off something. It was sweet.

He looked at his slayer. "Do you smell that?"

She took a deep breath; Buffy didn't smell anything out of the ordinary. "What?"

Angel smelled the air once more.

"I smell cookies." He replied; a little confused.

Buffy broke out into a wide grin. They bother got into the car and drove off into the night. This time it was Forever, because Forever was the whole point.

The End!

Buffy stood on the dock. She was nervous. Who wouldn't be? It'd been two years since she had last seen him, much less spoken to him.

This was harder then she thought it would be. The slayer shook her hands in hope it would make her nervousness disappear.

It didn't.

Buffy took a deep breath, taking in the oceans salty water. The wind blew gently through her hair, she listened to the waves splashing against the rocks. The night was beautiful.

Suddenly her eyes snapped open, as she felt a familiar tingle run up her spine.

He was there.

"Buffy." He said in a husky voice.

She smiled. God she missed hearing his voice.

"Angel." She greeted turning to face him.

The slayer slightly gasped at the site of his tan. Buffy already knew he'd had his shanshu, but it was still surprising to see.

The two lovers stared at eachother for what seemed to be hours. They looked into eachothers eyes, deep into their souls. No words needed to be spoken. Their hearts did it for them.

Buffy took a step back, breaking the intensity of the stare.

"You're shaking." Angel commented.

"Nerves." She replied with a sly smile.

Angel didn't understand why she was so nervous. It was just him.

Before he could as, the slayer answered, "It's been a while. Feels strange and comforting too. It's weird."

"That it is." He replied in a monotone

The ex vampire stood tall, he just like she had remembered him, minus the tan. Dark slacks and shirt with his beloved duster. Down right sexy.

As the wind blew, they each caught a whiff of the others scent. It drove them both up a wall.

"I've missed you." Buffy said camly.

"Me too." He replied cooly.

Neither one wanted to let the other see their desperation.

Once again they found themselves gazing into eachothers eyes. This time neither could break the spell of their love. They didn't want to.
