"Hayate, I missed you." Genma said and touched the raven haired man's face gently, slowly caressing the cheek.

"Genma…" he muttered as he stared lovingly into his lovers beautiful eyes, "You're late…you'll have to go soon." Hayate was pouting, unhappy that his time would be cut short.

"sorry…there is so much work lately…I wanted to come before it drew close to dawn…" Genma apologised and ran a hand over Hayate's side, leaning in close. He leant in to kiss him, Hayate felt hollow though, he couldn't feel the kiss he was being given.

"Don't…" he pulled away with a sad smile, "I don't fell it…it hurts." Tares fell from his dark eyes and no matter how hard Genma tried to wipe them away, they remained.

Genma felt his heart clench, "I can't help you, Hayate, and I can't! I want to-" ghost lips were on his own and he felt himself freeze, his lover was cold…like death, he was pale and had sad eyes.

"I should go…"

"No"

"This is the final sayonara, Genma my love…"

"No, Hayate, no!" Genma reached out and found he could not grasp his lover, "I don't want you to go!"

"I need to ….i'm already gone…" Hayate smiled and began walking away.

"I don't want to let you go!" the examiner fell on his knees and cried hoarsely for his love, "I can't let you go!"

"If you let me go we'll both be happy." Hayate was fading into the coming light of dawn. "It'll heal you…and that will heal me…let me go"

"…Don't go…don't go where I can't go after you…" the older one sobbed, his tears blurring the edges of the other fading man.

"You always come after me…you'll always follow me…when you come after me we'll wipe each others tears away." He faded away, gone, left in the fog that surrounded the gravestone, his spirit gone but his name carved neatly in the dark cold stone.

Genma stared at it, hated it, loathed it, loved it because it had that name carved in it. He was numb, for months he met Hayate here, before dawn and each time he had left feeling sadder each time…now Hayate had moved on and the only ghost he had was that in his memories. He smiled at the raven that came down to the stone… someone had died…

"I'll follow you…I'll come for you and kiss them away…"
