Chapter 24

When they got back to the Lair, Slythe and Musa promised to handle the creature while Lion-O rushed down to the Med Bay. Mandora stayed with the lizards while Whizz-Ra moved to keep up with the lion. Ma-Mutt was chasing after the two, while Snowman and Snowmeow held back. Despite not wanting to admit it, the man of Hook Mountain was exhausted.

"What have we got?" Lion-O asked upon entering the Med Bay.

"Good news. They were false contractions but she's not leaving the Med Bay until she gives birth. We need to be closely monitoring her and the baby," Pumyra stopped him right in the doorway. Wizz-Ra and Ma-Mutt almost dog piled into him and the puma moved everyone into the room and closer to the lab tables with the microscopes and other medical equipment on them.

"That is good news but what brought those on? I thought she was on bed rest," Lion-O was confused.

"It's a factor of her age, the size of the baby, and the fact that this is her first baby. Her body is not adjusting as well as we would hope. She still may give birth early but if she does it now, there will be nothing I can do to try and save the baby. We just don't have the technology," Pumyra explained.

"Have you asked the Evil Chaser doctors?" Wizz-Ra spoke up.

"Yes. They don't have much experience with Thunderian anatomy but even they would find it difficult to keep a three-month premature baby alive. The bodies are just not developed enough. There have been attempts to simulate a mother's womb, but they haven't led to a child reaching its first birthday," the puma heaved a sigh.

"Well good thing we have magic on our side," the ancient sorcerer smirked. Pumyra chuckled.

"We'll take the help we can get. How'd your mission go?" She asked.

"Excellent. We have the Manticore. We know how to destroy it, but how that ties to the spaceship…" Lion-O shrugged.

"That is weird, isn't it? I mean mythical creature and a spaceship that had no business being here in the first place," the puma shook her head.

"Very. Is there anything we can do?" The lion wanted to know.

"At this time, no. just take care of yourselves so you don't end up down here. I hope to be releasing Arzu tomorrow. Esen and Hafiz need a couple more days," Pumyra explained.

"Excellent news. I'll let Slythe know. Please keep us posted," the King smiled.

"Will do," she smiled back and watched them leave the Med Bay. That's when they heard a voice over the Lair's intercoms,

"Mandora to the Control Room. Mandora to the Control Room." Lion-O gave Wizz-Ra a look. The ancient Egyptian shrugged and the two walked down to the Control Room with Ma-Mutt right behind them.

"She's downstairs helping Slythe and Musa," Lion-O told his wife. He had hoped she'd been getting some sleep but here she was.

"Ah that would do it," Cheetara said.

"I thought you were napping," Wizz-Ra gave her a look, saying what Lion-O was thinking.

"The twins woke me up when Lea started having trouble and then one thing tumbled into another," she admitted.

"Off to bed with you. Let the twins handle things from here," Lion-O smiled at her.

"We have it, honest," Wily-Kat promised.

"I know you do. No one wake me until lunch tomorrow," the cheetah said.

"Aye, aye," Wily-Kit saluted. Cheetara chuckled and exited the room, just as Mandora was coming into the room.

"What's up?" She asked.

"Akshay is on the line," Wily-Kit told her.

"Ah, he must have found something," the former Evil Chaser said.

"We'll leave you to it," Lion-O smiled and left the room with Ma-Mutt and Wizz-Ra. The loyal dog took off down the hall, undoubtedly, to catch a nap with Cheetara.

"So, what now?" Lion-O asked the ancient sorcerer.

"Let's check in with Ayberk. Mumm-Rana was going to help him try and figure out who the bones belong to and if they worshipped gods that could have brought the Manticore to life," Wizz-Ra suggested.

"Lead the way," Lion-O said.
