Hush

Chapter Ten

Veronica, Percy, and Vincent, along with the warriors behind them, arrived at the tower, but a gate stood between them and the tower. Percy's eyes looked up at the ivory white tower.

"I created this tower to rid the world of speech. We need to reach the time and we need to reach the top so I can enter the amplifier so I can return it." Veronica said.

Percy nodded. "How many floors?"

"Forty," Vincent said.

Percy sighed. "I see."

"Don't worry, we have an elevator," Vincent replied.

Percy only nodded, for he had a bad feeling the moment he said that.

Veronica touched the gate; she stepped back for it zapped her. The three of them looked through the gate and saw multiple men and woman walking out of the tower toward the gate. Veronica's eyes ease at first until she saw their glowing purple eyes. Nodding, Veronica pulled out her staff as Percy and Vincent pulled out their swords.

"Looks like Jeffery is using everyone in the tower to defend it," Vincent said.

Veronica's eyes flickers as she kicked the gate open.

"We have no choice attack!"

Vincent, Percy, Veronica, and the warriors charged through the gate toward the enemy.

Meanwhile, at the top of the tower in a pale white room, Jeffery watched as Veronica, Vincent, and Percy charged through the gate with her warriors. Looked on as they were tearing down the men and woman who severed them for all this time. While Jeffery took delight in this, he glanced back at Vivian, who seem to have a small smile on her face.

"Hm, could it be that your plan is falling apart?" Vivian asked.

"Jeffery shook his head and scoffed.

"They still have to make it up here and they haven't even stepped foot in the tower yet."

Outside, Percy punched two men in the face before sending another flying. As he inched closer to the tower got stopped by two more men, but two of Veronica's warriors knocked them to ground. Nodding, Percy moved on, looking to see where else he could help.

Vincent was smacking people away left and right with the flat part of his sword. He kicked a few and even slammed one to the ground, but as he tried to move toward the main door of the tower, two large farmers pushed him back. Before they get a good hold on his two large warriors tackled the farmers to the ground.

"Go, sir," the warriors said.

Nodding, Vincent pat them on the back and ran to join the others.

Smacking maid after maid, Veronica's heart ached with every blow. Twirling around, she kicked two ladies in the chest. Snapping around, Veronica's eyes glowed as she raised two women in the air only for two more to sneak up behind her and grab her arms. The women in the air dropped and jumped up. Just as they were about to crouch down, Vincent ran up and hit them in the back, knocking them out. Percy did the same to the women holding Veronica's arms.

Free Veronica nodded to the both of them in thanks. As the three of them turned around ready to fight, they noticed the warriors had everything take care of. From locking the more feral ones in the supply closest to tying up the rest while fighting any more, they came out to face them.

A small group of warriors stood at the entrance of the tower. Veronica, Percy, and Vincent walked over to the entrance. The warriors bowed.

"We've got everything here covered. Please proceed." One warrior said.

Veronica nodded as the three of them continued on through the main doors.

Back at the top of the tower, a growl left Jeffery's lips as he smacked the wall. Gritting his teeth, Jeffery took a deep breath.

"From your reactions, I take it they are inside the tower." Vivian said.

"Shut up," Jeffery snapped back.

"You can not stop us. When we are determined, we will see it thought to the end," Vivan said.

"I said shut up!, they won't survive what I have in store for them I promise."

Vivian smiled. "We'll see about that,"

The moment the Veronica, Vincent and Percy entered the lobby, they were greeted with silence. As they looked around, everything looked normal. The plants at the entrance to the various benches and trash cans and the large water fountain. Everything was in work order and nothing had been touched.

As they looked around, they noticed the elevators were a few away, ready to take to the level 40. With a staircase leading up to the next floor beside it, along with a door leading out a stairway.

Percy didn't like this. His eyes slowly looked around the lobby's white walls, down to the windows leading into other rooms. Vincent and Veronica did the same, for they were unsure about this too. Was this a trap or maybe a much needed break?

"I don't like this. It's way too quiet, "Vincent said.

"I agree. Let's move on," Veronica said.

Vincent walked up and pressed the up button on the Elevator. Only to hear hissing and screeching sound coming from the elevator shaft. The moment the bell dinged, and the doors opened, Veronica pushed Vincent out of the way as dozens and dozens of purple eye warriors that were left behind to protect the tower poured out of the elevator.

Another ding from the second elevator caused Veronica to twirl around, just missing the dozen of more purple eye warriors that poured out. Veronica gripped her staff tight as she looked around at the warriors closing in on her.

Veronica's eyes glowed as a smile spread across her lips.

Knocked back into Percy, Vincent and Percy were about to help Veronica when two more elevator dings reached their ears. As the two more doors opened, out poured even more infected warriors. One warrior jumped in the air, but so did Percy. He sliced thought the warrior with his sword, followed by kicking two more before landing beside Vincent.

Within moments, Percy and Vincent were back to back as more infected warriors closed in on them. But smiles spread across their lips as Percy's and Vincent's eyes glowed.

The infected warriors charged at Veronica, who dodged , smacked, kicked and punched them away while sending a good chunk of them flaying thought the air. Yet she held up her staff as more and more punches and kicks flew her way. Ignoring the pain, Veronica kicked a warrior and grabbed their sword and combined it with her staff, slicing them down enough where she could back up toward the fountain.

Vincent and Percy were blocking and slashing away at the infected warriors. But no matter how many they knocked down, more and more would should up in their stead. Vincent's eye slit up as his sword did the same. He slashed hard, knocked dozens of warriors down. Percy's eyes glowed, lining his sword as he spun around, slashing warrior after warrior, knocking down dozens as well. He looked up, seeing more warriors running their way.

Vincent and Percy glanced over, seeing Veronica joining them at the fountain. Breathing hard, Percy's eyes narrowed. This was getting them nowhere he needs to clear them out, and he needed to do it now. Breathing hard, his eyes glowed, which poured out, lining his whole body with a cerulean blue aura. Vincent and Veronica looked as the water coming out of the fountain swirled around Percy as the water lifted him up in the air.

The water formed into an enormous ball. After a few moments, it formed into a massive dragon with Percy at its center. The dragon roared. Veronica and Vincent crouched down. As the water dragon opened its mouth, a mass of water blast all the warriors, pushed them away from the fountain, smacking them against the walls and out the windows.

The dragon disappeared as Percy landed back on the floor, breathing hard and coughing, using the fountain to steady himself. Taking a deep breath, he looked at Vincent and Veronica.

"There we go. I cleared them out," Percy said.

"Remind me never to make you angry," Veronica said.

Percy smiled. He looked over at the damaged elevators and blocked staircase. Vincent sighed, which prompted a chuckle from Veronica.

"Come on, you two, we got stairs to climb,"

Nodding, the three ran toward the door leading to the stairway, not happy about the long climb ahead of them.

Back at the top, Jeffery continued the Trio go up floor after floor and no matter what ghouls, goblins or other demons he put in their way, they always make their way past them. He looked back at Vivian from time to time, seething with anger, for a smile remained across her lips, much to Jeffery's annoyance.

There had to be something that can slow them down, he thought. Pacing the floor for a while, he stopped when a thought came to mind. Jeffery's eyes glowed as the rest of his body followed suit. A smile spread across his lips as he looks at the screen.

"This should stop them for sure."

Reaching the 20th floor, the walls grew dark as a man with black armor rose out of the floor. Vincent looked at the man, for he had a feeling who it was. The moment the man he moved closer, and the man removed his helmet, Vincent's eyes widen as he gripped his sword.

Both Veronica and Percy were confused, until the man opened his mouth.

"Hello son,"

"Hello Father," Vincent said.

The man had long black hair with dark purple eyes, smiling as he pulled out his sword, aiming it at his aiming it at his son's heart.

"This is my father, Valentino Damacrio, the demon killer. While my mother raised me father did what he did best and slayed demons for a profit. He would come home with the money after ever successful hunt and then one day he didn't. then I found out that he died but not without taking the demon with him.

"Nice of you to bring up such touching things," Valentino smiled, looking at Veronica. "Seem you have done well for you self even become a protector of a lovely goddess."

"Thank you," Vincent said, pulling out his sword aiming it his father's heart.

"Ah, you still remember. Come, show me how strong you have become," Valentino said, looking right at his son.

"You two go on ahead. I've got this."

Veronica and Percy nodded as they pat Vincent on the back and ran to the staircase.

Both Valentino and Vincent smiled as they charged at each other.

Reaching the 30th floor, Percy needed to take a break, so he leaned on the wall. As Veronica did the same.

"I never got to thank you for taking care of Nadine," Veronica said.

"You're welcome. She has grown a lot. Such determination almost matches my own." Percy said.

"Yes, she has made me so proud, finding you, seeing the error in my ways, and making new friends." Veronica paused. "I just hope I can do this… I don't want to let her down."

"You won't. We made it this far. We will see this to the end."

Veronica laughed. "Thank you, I needed that.

"Anytime,"

Feeling rested, Percy and Veronica were about the move when an enormous axe was thrown in their direction. Percy pushed Veronica out of the way, the axe missed him by an inch.

Moment later a familiar roar followed. Walking toward them was none other than The Minotaur he fought when he first came to Camp Half blood. His eyes narrowed the moment a huge human bird-like creature with large talons landed beside the minotaur, transforming in to Ms. Dodd's, his old Math teacher.

"Wow, digging up the past is he," Percy said, followed by a chuckle.

Cracking his knuckles, Percy stood there. Veronica wanted to help, but Percy shook his head.

"Looks like it is my turn. Go on, I'll take care of this," Percy said.

Running pass, the creatures Veronica looked back to Percy, who nodded and charged toward The Minotaur and his former teacher.

Jeffery smiled once more than the image he was looking at split again. Now only Veronica was left and the at that moment, he looked over Vivian.

Walking over behind her chair, he smiled as he laid a hand on her shoulder.

At first, she felt nothing, but then a stinging sensation on her shoulder caused her to bite her lip as a cold dark liquid moved from shoulder to another. It traveled down her chest and legs to her feet. All the while, Vivian refused to scream. But the moment the liquid made its way up her neck, she opened her mouth and the liquid poured inside.

Vivian's body convulsed as the dark liquid coursed through her veins. Pulling away from the veil, Vivian's eyes were completely dark purple. Laughing, Jeffery leaned close to her ear. Leaning closer to her ear.

"Now it's your turn."

Reaching the 40th floor, Veronica was close to the chamber; it was just beyond the door a few feet in front of her.

Looking around and seeing nothing in sight, Veronica kept moving toward the chamber.

The moment the chamber door came into view, Veronica's eyes were wide as Vivian walked out from the wall and stood in front of the chamber door. She tilted her head to the side with a smile across her lips. head

At first Veronica was glad to see her, but when she got a little closer, she stopped. Something wasn't right with a smile Vivian held up her, hand blasting Veronica knocking on her to the floor. Standing up, Vivian looked back up at Vivian whose eyes were compete black.

"Vivian..." Veronica whispered.

Jeffery walked out from behind her with a huge smile across his lips. Veronica continued looking at Vivian with tears falling down her face, her once strong, determined heart steadily broke. Her legs felt like jelly, but she refused to drop to her knees.

"Congratulations on making it to the top, but I wonder if you can defeat the Sensory Queen. I saved her personally for you." Jeffery said, followed by a smirk.

Taking a deep breath, Veronica swallowed hard as her staff glowed, the color matching her eyes as Vivian walked forward. Vivian's tan aura mixed with black as she charged toward Veronica and she charged toward her with tears in streaming down her cheeks.

This was her punishment for being trickled by a demon. Fighting the woman who founded them. While her heart was breaking, she couldn't back out now. She caused all of this and she would fix it.
