Chapter 40: Questions and Answers(Part 1)(Lotor's POV)

Lotor blinks. It looks like he's in a room. White furnishings cover it. Giving it a spotless look. And making it so bright that his eyes hurt a little.

Then he notices the White Lion causally licking its paw on one of the white couches.

It stops and looks up at him. "Congratulations. Your test is complete. You have earned the knowledge that was taught to your forefathers who passed that very same test. Also a nice one for figuring out that puzzling poem that one of visitor's decided to write, to help Altean knowledge of Alchemy become more….well known."

"What does that have to do with Altean Alchemy?"

The white lion snorts, but continues, "Altean Alchemy. A rare gift in many Alteans, some very talented in it while others only have but a spark, a glimmer. But those who are weak in it can become strong through practice, and by obtaining a more vast knowledge of it. Those who do become better alchemists than the ones with a natural talent. Like your friend. However one with talent can easily become just as powerful if not more by this knowledge. As such precautions must be taken, so these tests were born to see who had pure intentions. Though sometimes our judgement based on those tests were wrong, as even someone with bad intentions can understand these tests."

"But you are not here for a history lesson. But instead of the knowledge that so many have desperately wanted to know."

"Altean Alchemy has nothing to do with science. It never has. Your people simply became more technological as the years rolled by. The key to understanding Altean Alchemy is Quintessence. The life force of everyone. With it you can do almost anything, to strengthen the integrity of ships and other items, give objects life, directing it to attack, healing, prolonging life, and saving a life. The more Quintessence, life energy, an Altean has correlates to how much raw talent they have in Altean Alchemy."

"So you're saying that Allura has more Quintessence in her because she has the raw ability to do Alchemy?"

"I'm saying that your friend, Allura, because she has more Quintessence in her, she is able to use Altean Alchemy without having to work hard to manifest it. Whereas for you to get to her level, training and practice are required."

Lotor nods.

"With practice you can do all the things I said you could with Altean Alchemy. But let us discuss those points first. You can strengthen ships and other items by giving them some life energy. Your life energy, Quintessence, is constantly spewing out and giving the world life. As such if you direct that flow of energy you can strengthen ships and other such items. It makes them stronger because more life energy has been given to them."

"However if you give an object or a ship too much Quintessence they can act and think for themselves, as they have been given so much life energy that they come alive. Like your Voltron lions. Lot's of Quintessence were put into those ships to make them sturdy and yet the comet ore would have been sufficient for them to function and to live. But since Alfor was dealing with an unknown, he put as much Quintessence as he could from his life energy and other sources to make them study and not explode with any number of hits."

"You can direct the Quintessence within you to attack. Causing bursts of energy to spew out against your opponent to overwhelm them. Because your Quintessence is different from yours when you directly attack them with a concentrated amount, it will cause it to clash with your opponent's Quintessence thus overpowering them by knocking them out or making them take a heavy hit. Numerous Altean's have developed spells for attacking with their Quintessence instead of just directing it to attack your opponent, which you will will lean."

"Healing is the direct opposite of attacking. You merge your Quintessence with your patient's Quintessence, helping the healing process go faster. Sort of like those Cryopods, that can speed up the process of healing and make a life prolonged."

"Prolonging a life, your's or others takes an innumerable amount of Quintessence to pull off. Because eventually your life energy runs out. It just stops flowing. However to achieve immortality like you, Zarkon and Haggar have without having to reapply Quintessence to yourself is because in the rifts between realities Quintessence is there in abundance and getting exposed and possessed by the creatures that guard the rift cause your Quintessence to sky-rocket. But it also causes people to go mad with power and getting more than what they were showered with. Because you were born after your mother was possessed it affected you physically but not mentally since you hadn't experienced the power that Quintessence gives, but were born with it so it was normal to you."

"But enough about that. Saving a life however means to draw the person's fleeing life energy back to them and seal it to them. It adds years of life to them, but it does not last."

"So prolonging a life is getting exposed with tons of Quintessence, while saving a life means to draw what Quintessence they had back to them and seal it to them somehow. Does it also heal them from their injuries?"

"Yes, because life is being given back to them. The wound or pain may not heal wholly but it will make them in a less life threatening position."

Lotor nods. He wasn't expecting all this.

"Now I must teach you how to do all of it. We do not have much time, and unfortunately power over time is something that Quintessence cannot do. I just hope all that I can teach you will help you, Prince Lotor."
