"New York City... It's one of the largest and most famous cities in the world. This city is my home, my playground, and my responsibility. Ten years ago, I was given these great powers and met a great man who showed me the great responsibility that comes with that power. After he died, it became my responsibility to protect this city and uphold what he left behind. Two years ago, I wasn't sure if I could uphold that legacy, but I learned to push past that insecurity. This is my city, my responsibility, and my life."

New York City is known for a lot of things. One of them was being crime. It happened all around and everywhere. One example of that was a group of criminals on top of a building. Not just any building either. It was a well-known building called the Daily Bugle.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" One criminal said.

"Boss wants the story cut before it's published." They were making sure their little plan was going to work. They readied themselves for going in that place, breaking and smashing everything, and ruining whatever they could. Crime is always going on in the city, but there is always someone there to try and stop it.

"I'm still not sure about this. That man has ties to this place. What if he catches us?"

"That's why we've got to move fast." They were hoping to do this fast and efficiently, but they lost their chance. One criminal ended up getting webbed and was pulled up only to have him get kicked back down.

"Hey, guys. I'm sure you have a good reason for being up here and planning some way to sneak into my old Daily Bugle, right?"

"Spider-Man!" Spider-Man, also known as Paul Porter. He's been the good old spider swinging through the city for ten years. He's been fighting and protecting the city for all that time, and he doesn't intend to stop any time soon.

"Waste the bug!" One criminal took aim with a rifle, but Paul jumped down. He knocked the weapon out of the way and gave the guy a good punch across the face.

"You guys keep saying stuff like I'm a bug. Spiders are actually arachnids, not bugs." Paul retorted. The guy he punched got back up and tried to hit him, but Paul leaned back and kicked the guy in the air. When he came back down, Paul gave him a good kicked and knocked him against a wall.

"You can't stop all of us!" A few of them tried attacking him together, but Paul jumped high in the air and had them crash into each other. Paul moved back and was standing near the edge.

"I got him!" One criminal aimed a gun at him, but Paul jumped over the edge and vanished from their sight. Some of them went over to check it out, but they saw no sign of him.

"Where'd he go?"

"The bug can crawl on walls! He could be anywhere!" They all kept their guard up for him. One ended up getting webbed in the back and was swung against the wall and webbed down.

"I just said that spiders are not bugs!" Paul said. Two of them took aim and tried shooting at him, but he webbed both of their guns and pulled them right out of their hands.

"Give those back!"

"Sure!" Paul said as he twirled them around. He threw the weapons back at them and they both got hit in the head. Paul shot continuous webs until they were both ensnared in them. Paul jumped at them and kicked them both down.

"You're history!" One thug pulled out a knife. He swung it around and tried cutting Spider-Man, but Paul kept moving out of the way until he grabbed the guy's arm. He gave the thug's arm a good twist that he was force to drop the knife.

"Don't you guys know you can't play with dangerous toys like that? Someone could really get hurt!" Paul said as he gave the guy a good hit that knocked him back. "Come back. I forgot something." He used a web and pulled the guy back to him only to hit him in the face again. "Anyone else?"

"You are so dead!" One thug tried attacking him from behind, but Paul jumped up and got right over him. He shot another line and pulled the guy straight up. He gave the thug a couple good hits before he knocked him back down.

"Worst sneak attack. Not that it would have mattered. My spider sense would have alerted me of your little attack." Paul explained.

"You son of a..." He didn't finish that as Paul shot some web right in his mouth.

"Watch your language. You never know who could be listening." Paul said before he jumped up and stomped his feet down right on him and knocked him out. He looked to see there were only two left. "You two even want to try?"

"Damn you!" One of the remaining two tried attacking him, but Paul ducked out of the way and gave him a good uppercut.

"Want to try that again?" Paul taunted. The guy kept trying to hit him, but Paul kept moving back. "You know, my wife actually works here. Did you really think I was going to hear about this? I even use to work here."

"What the hell are you babbling about?!" The thug said.

"Just making conversation. I'm pointing out what a stupid idea this was that came from a massive idiot." Paul said.

"Shut up!" The guy tried hitting him again, but Paul jumped back. Paul shot a web and pulled the guy closer. He hit him across the face a couple times before he jumped and twisted his body around to kick him right in the face to knock him out.

"Why is it these guys never learn?" Paul questioned. He turned to the last one that was still standing, but he could see the guy was scared. "Do you even want to be here? You could just make it easy and give up."

"St... Stay away from me..." The guy said as Paul could actually hear the fear in his voice.

"What's the matter? Afraid of spiders?" Paul taunted as he poked at the fear this guy was feeling. He looked like he was about to pee his pants. "Boo!" That little scare was enough for the guy to scream and tried running for it. Despite that, Paul couldn't let him go. He shot another line and it hit a guy's leg. Paul pulled it hard and caused the guy to trip and fall over.

"Sorry about that." Paul said as he jumped over and stood next to him as the guy stood back up. "I can't just let you leave."

"Don't com near me." The crook said as he tried backing away from him.

"You know, it is dangerous to be up here. Let me show you why." Paul said. He gave the crook a strong kick and sent him flying right over the edge. The criminal really thought he was going to fall to his death, but Paul shot another line and caught him. The guy ended up falling and swinging against a window and was left hanging there and was upside-down. "Did you honestly think I was going to let you fall like that? I was just giving you a good scare."

"Get me down from here!" The crook said as he tried to get out of the position he was in.

"I seriously wouldn't do that if I were you." Paul said. "Not unless you want to break the line and end up falling to your death for real." That got him to stop squirming around. "That's better. Now, it should take a couple hours for the webbing to dissolve, but the cops should be here long before that happens."

"So, are you just bringing the stories to us now?!" Paul looked down and spotted his lovely wife and long time love at an open window: Monica Whitney, or named Monica Porter now.

"Well, it certainly saves some hassle." Paul said as he lowered himself down with a web. "Leaves me some time to spend with my beautiful wife."

"Well, we certainly appreciate the story." Paul looked behind him and saw his two old work acquaintances. His old boss, Edward Jamesith, and his right hand man, Dennis Martin.

"Edward... Dennis... Always nice to see the two of you." Paul said.

"Always nice to see our local hero." Edward said.

"Still not use to that." Paul said. There was a time that Edward believed Spider-Man was a menace, but that all changed around when his identity became public.

"Let me guess. Someone was trying to break-in and you just stopped it. I thought I heard something weird going on the roof, but I just thought someone was sneaking pot." Dennis said. "I'll go let the police know."

"Even though you quit working here, it's always good to see you bringing in a good story, Porter." Edward said as the two of them left Paul with his wife. Keeping his identity a secret isn't a problem anymore and that's why he removed his mask to speak with his wife.

"So, how is your day, honey?" Paul said.

"Cute." Monica said. "It's going pretty good since you just brought in another story. A benefit to being a reporter and married to a hero is that you're always the first to hear about a good story. What was the deal with what was going on up there?"

"Some big guy wanted a story to be shutdown before it hit the streets." Paul said.

"Oh! I think I know who that is. No worries." Monica said. "Once that story gets out there, the guy is practically screwed."

"That means another punk bites the dust. Sometimes this is just getting boring." Paul said. "Oh well. You just got to do what you got to do. I'll see you at home?"

"Oh yeah." Monica said as she pulled her husband closer and kissed him while he was upside down. Paul's life has had some highs and lows. Now, it seems like he's got life figured out and it looks like it's going to be smooth sailing. However, that isn't how life works. There will always be something to throw a wrench in what goes on in your life. When you're someone like Spider-Man, it usually leads to something catastrophic. That is why Paul is bound to face some of his greatest challenges as Spider-Man yet and will have to make decisions that affect his entire seemingly perfect life.
