A/N: This short thing of a fic was brought into my head quite randomly, but is a bit like an Evangelion fanfiction I read a year ago, so I give some credit to that. (Although, I can't remember the author or title, so...) I hope you like it, and please reveiw, good or bad.
"If love is shelter, I'm going to walk in the rain."
-Unknown
We all know there's always something tearing you apart
It's always so much longer than you counted on
And it hits you so much harder then you thought
But you don't worry, you don't worry
Cause you've got soul
-Matchbox 20,
The rain soaked him to the skin, draining him of any warmth or comfort.
Sasuke kneeled down on the soggy ground, his dark eyes looking past it's muddy surface. His shirt clung to his body in a cowardly manner, feeling much to like a second skin to be of any comfort. The Uchina's breath came in short rasps, his fists clenching as he felt pain sear through his knuckles, which were in pink due to overuse.
Sitting back, he took a cross-legged position and simply sat, letting the water caress his skull with it's cold fingertips. He knew this had been a bad idea. He wondered briefly what color the rain really was. It just seemed to take the color of whatever it landed on. Then it dissapeared...
W-Why...Why d-did you...
Damn, why was he remembering that now? He shut his eyes, trying to rid himself of the memories.
I DON'T WANT TO DIE!!
And he ran. He ran as his brother watched him,
DON'T KILL ME!
So much red. So much noise that came with silence. He was...he was afraid. Itachi...this wasn't...Itachi...
You always flick my forehead, and then you leave.
His eyes were different. He was different. But what was so sickening, what was so hard to take, was that he was the same. The same...he was Itachi.
I wanted to test my capabilities.
And that night. That night, with all that blood. Sasuke cried. He cried and he screamed and he ran. His brother had to show him exactly what he had done, the terrifying crime he had committed, Sasuke had also. He watched as blood splashed unto the walls and floor, the blood he cherished.
Foolish little brother...if you want to kill me, hate me, detest me...and survive in the most cowardly way. Run, run, and cling to life.
So he ran. Was he still running?
Sasuke wondered if rain was the only water that was streaming down his cheeks. He felt like he was being suffocated. The rain pounded on him, ringing in his ears. It was red, oh god it was red...
The voice was so far away.
Sasuke opened his eyes. He was trembling.
What's wrong? It was Sakura, and she was kneeling in the mud, her pink hair sticking to her face. She was very wet.
He couldn't run. He wouldn't run. The rain seemed to engulf him, the pattern of each drop hitting the surface thudding in his ears, simultaneously with his heart throbbing. He couldn't breathe...
He chocked, gasping for air.
She tilted her head to the side, seriously concerned. Looking around, the girl didn't see any blood. Glancing down, she noticed the streams of water pooling in the earth. Do... you mean the rain?
Everything suddenly came back into focus, and he stared at her. Sakura was here. He was sitting on the ground, in the rain. In the rain. But the blood...the red...
Stupid Sasuke! It's only rain! Naruto cried, suddenly appearing beside her. Sakura's brow twitched, more than tempted to whack him upside the head. She turned her attention back to her other teammate, who blinked in realization.
It's only...it's only rain. He declared softly, unclenching his fists. Sakura smiled slightly, glad to see he was snapping out of whatever he had been in.
Yes, Sasuke-kun, it's only rain.
The rain soaked him to the skin, draining him of any fear or discomfort.
