The Butterfly Effect: A concept in which one small change in a certain event in our lives can change the course of everything. If we could time travel, just what would be the consequences of the various butterfly effects that we would create in our attempts to fix one small mistake in our lives? This is the story of one man who will experience such a butterfly effect, one that will change the course of his life for the better. And his name is Ranma Saotome.

"WHY YOU STUPID OLD MAN!" Shouted a young red head as she kicked a panda into the distance and sped off in the opposite direction. Believe it or not, this young woman is actually a young man.

This young man, currently a woman, is Ranma Saotome and he has just become the latest victim of Jusenkyo, the cursed springs that turn you into whatever drowned there last. Ranma had just been finishing up a 13 year long training trip with his father, who fell into the spring of drowned panda, when he discovered that he had intended to marry Ranma off to some girl he didn't even know!

So, he did the only thing he could, he kicked his father over the horizon, cut his loses, and ran off to who knows where. Ranma did not think this through. He had no money, no idea where he was, and to make matters worse, he didn't know the any Chinese to speak of!

Just as he was thinking these things, he bumped into someone.

"HEY! Watch out pal!" Ranma shouted at the stranger he/she just bumped into. The stranger was slightly taller than Ranma in his male form, mustached and gray haired, wearing a purple Chinese shirt and black pants.

Said man turned to see who bumped into him and was surprised to see a young Japanese girl in a slightly tattered gi.

"You should be more careful little girl." The old man said to her. That, made Ranma flip. He was not having a good day, and he was just itching to take it out on someone.

"I'm. Not. A GIRL! I'm a GUY!" Ranam jumped at the old man, snapping out a flying side kick. The old man side steps and watches her pass by. Ranma turns and lashes out with a tornado kick fallowed by a barrage of back fists, punches and kicks that all miss their mark.

The old man parried every strike. Ranma dropped and sweep kicked the old mans legs out from under him. The old man spun in midair and righted himself, then flipped over Ranma's head and kicked him in the back, knocking him/her over.

'This kid's not bad. But why does she keep calling herself a guy? Unless...'

Ranma gets back up and charges at the old man. A flurry of punches and kicks fly at the old man. Said old man catches the last punch and joint locks him to the ground. "Answer me this kid, did you fall into Jusenkyo?"

Ranma ignored the pain in his arm and stopped struggling when he heard the question. "Yes. I did."

The old man let go of Ranma's arm and helped him to his feet. "So, mind telling an old man just how it is that you ended up at that place?"

And so, Ranma began to tell the old man his life story. And boy was it long. Ranma's story began when he was but two years old. Upon the discovery of his martial arts talent Ranma's father took him away from his mother and on a twelve to thirteen year long training trip.

They never stayed in more than one place for too long, only staying long enough to learn martial arts techniques from the best masters and then off they went once again. Ranma never had the chance to make a single friend. Then, for the last leg of their journey, Ranma's father decided that they would go to the cursed training ground of Jusenkyo. Even though the fool didn't know a lick of Chinese!

And so when they arrived at the cursed training ground, they sparred on top of the bamboo poles. Ranma knocked his father into the spring of drowned panda and in return, he knocked Ranma into the spring of drowned girl.

The old man listened to Ranma's tale while preparing a kettle of hot water. After offering it to Ranam, the old man asked where Ranma's father was.

"I left that old fart behind." Said Ranma as he returned to his male form. "Turns out the old creep was intending to take me back to Japan and force me to marry some chick I don't know!"

This made the old man shocked. "An arranged marriage? In this day and age?" The old man was shocked to say the least. Arranged marriages had been out of practice for decades. And with all the other stuff this boy seemed to have gone through, it was a wonder he was still seemingly sane.

"So, what exactly do you intend to do now?" Now it was Ranma's turn to be wide eyed and stunned silent. "I...don't...know...?"

Honestly, Ranma had no idea what to do. All he could think about was getting as far away from his deadbeat father and trying to find a way to fix his curse. But other than that, he really had no idea what to do now. He was alone, no home, no money, no lay of the land...

The old man looked at the poor boy. He was truly lost. It was at this moment, the od man decided to take pity on the por boy.

"If you really have no place to go, and your father sounds like an asshole, maybe I could take you under my wing." Ranma looked at the old man funnily.

"Ah, no offense old timer, but, I don't even know who you are." The old man just laughed.

"Well then, allow me to remedy that. My name is Master Asia."

Ranma just looked at the old man, wide eyed, and stunned. "HUH!?"

A year and a half later, and Ranma had to admit, he was happy. He was training with THE MASTER ASIA! The greatest martial arts master to EVER live! They traveled around China, Japan, and then they headed to America.

They traveled around until they reached Cansas. Then Master Asia dropped a massive bombshell on Ranma.

"You what!?" Ranma shouted.

"You've heard me Ranma. I've enrolled you in the local high school." Master Asia said to his ward.

"But why? What do I even need to go to school for?" Ranma asked. He had nothing against formal education, it's just that...school was just so boring! He much rather spend all that time practicing martial arts.

Master Asia sighed. "Look Ranma, you're 16, you've never had any friends, you're in the prime of your youth, and you've barely had enough education to be considered literate."

Ranma had the decency to look down and blush.

"My point is, you're only young once. And thanks to your dead-beat father, you've already gone through half of your life without being able to enjoy the simple pleasures of growing up. Going to high school you'll at least be able to make some real friends for once, as well as get a half way decent education."

Ranma looked down in defeat. Once again, Master Asia had him beat. In all honesty, he had always wanted a friend. And while he was not too keen on spending most of his time stuck in a stuffy old classroom wasting away a day he could have spent training, he did like the idea of hanging with people his own age for more than a day.

"Alright," Ranma sighed, "You're right. As usual."

Master Asia grinned. "Of course I'm right. That's why I'm the master and you're the student." He looked at his young protege and smiled like how a proud father would his only son.

"I've already got your books and supplies, and you've already seen the school during your walks around town. You just have to show up tomorrow and the principle will show around."

Ranma smiled. Just like his master, always a few steps ahead. "Alright."

He looked at the clock. "I'm heading out for a while. I'll be back by dinner."

Master Asia nodded his head. "Alright, try not to get into any trouble." Ranma just laughed.

"No promises."

A streak of rainbow lights blazed across town at supersonic speed. A 16 year old girl of Caucasian decent came to a stop at a meadow just outside of the city limits. She wore a blue short sleeve jacket with yellow stripes on the sleeves over a white t-shirt with a cloud and a lightning bolt on the front.

Her legs were covered by tight black sweatpants with multi colored lightning bolts on the legs, and on her feet were blue and white converse with red soles and red laces and yellow lightning bolts on the sides.

This was Rainbow Dash, all around jock girl and lead guitarist of the Rain Booms. But not only that, she as also the leader of just about ALL of the sports teams and clubs at Canterlot High. But today, she just wanted to relax.

"Sigh, What a great day!" She said as she gazed at the lush green meadow just outside of town. But as she was walking around enjoying the scenery, she heard a sound that sounded like a crisp snap and pop in rapid succession.

She followed the sounds and found a young man in a karate gi practicing. She had learned martial arts before, so she could recognize the kata he was doing as Gankaku. She watched him as he balanced on one leg and kicked.

After he was done, he switched to a different style. It looked more like kung fu, which she didn't know much about. But she did admire the level of skill he displayed. The way his hands moved in rapid succession, the powerful snap in his kicks, it was pure poetry in motion.

After he brought his hands together in what looked like an ending salute, the young man looked over to where Rainbow Dash was standing and called out, "Who's there?"

"Agh!?" Rainbow freaked! How long had he known she was there? She stepped out into the clearing.

"Hi," she said meekly. Ranma blushed. He was no stranger to young women, but this one in particular...She was beyond cute! Snapping back to reality, Ranma asked the young woman, "Who are you?"

"Um, I'm Rainbow Dash. And...THAT WAS AWESOME!" She exclaimed, stars appearing in her eyes.

Ranma blushed. "You, ugh, really think so?"

Rainbow ran up to him in the blink of an eye and said, "Heck yeah! I've trained in martial arts before but I have never seen someone preform moves like that with such skill!"

Ranma turned his head so she wouldn't see his reddening face. 'Man, I've never had a cute girl complement me on my martial arts before.'

Recomposing himself, Ranma walked up to the girl.

"My name's Ranma, what's your name?" He asked her.

"Oh, um, I'm Raven, but everyone calls me Rainbow Dash!" She replied.

Ranma tilted his head to one side. "Rainbow Dash? No offense, but that's a weird name."

She laughed, crossing her arms and smirked. "Yeah well, what kind of weird sounding name is Ranma?"

Ranma crossed his arms and returned her smirk with one of his own.

"It translates to 'Wild Horse'."

Rainbow's smirk dropped. "Oh, well, that's actually kind of cool."

Ranma smirked even more. Recomposing herself, Rainbow Dash walked up to the young martial artist.

"So, you new here? I've never seen you around before." Rainbow Dash asked him.

"Yeah, me and my master just moved here." Ranma replied.

"Master? Oh! You mean your sensei? What about your parents?" Rainbow asked him.

Ranma looked to the side, his eyes downcast. "I don't really want to talk about it. Let's just say, I'm a runaway."

Rainbow had the decency to look slightly ashamed for bringing up a what appeared to be a touchy subject.

"Sorry." She apologized. Ranma shrugged.

"It's okay." He replied. "But still, I'd rather not talk about it."

Rainbow nodded. "Gotcha. Soooooo...You just moved here huh? You going to school or anything?" She asked.

"Uh, yeah. Actually my master enrolled me in some school called...uh...Canterlot High I think?" Rainbow startled.

"No kidding?! That's where I go to school! Hey maybe I can show you around!" She offered.

Ranma smiled. "Yeah that be great! I start tomorrow." Rainbow extends her hand and Ranma took it.

"Cool. Hey, maybe after I show you around we can have a little spar?"

Ranma grinned. "Sounds like fun. I've got to warn you though, I don't hold back. Not even for women. I'm a true gender equalist."

Rainbow Dash just grinned. "My kind of guy." After sharing a laugh, Ranma said good bye to Rainbow and headed back home to prepare for tomorrow.

When Ranma returned home, he found Master Asia setting the table.

"Oh, you're back! So, how did it go?"

Ranma shrugged. "Fine. I think I might have made a friend? I'm not sure."

Asia looked shocked. "Oh! Already? Well, what's he like?"

Ranma looked away, embarrassed. "Actually, it's a girl."

"Ooooohhhhhhh..." Asia said with a knowing smirk on his face.

"Not like that!" Ranma shouted in defense. "I just, bumped into her while I was training!"

"Uh huh," says Master Asia. "So...What's she like?"

Ranma recomposed himself. "She's kinda cute. I guess. She goes to that school you enrolled me in. She said she'd show me around."

Asia smiled. "Well then, I'm glad you made a new friend. Just remember to treat her with respect boy."

"Ha ha," Ranma replied drolly.

The next day at Canterlot High, 7 friends were waiting by the entrance to the school. Rainbow dash was at the head of the group, beside her was a woman who could only be described as a farm/cow girl. She had tan skin, blond hair in a ponytail at the bottom of her hair, green eyes, wearing a brown cowboy hat, a white t-shirt with green sleeves and a red apple on the chest, a blue denim skirt and brown cowboy boots.

Next to them was a young girl with dark reddish-pink hair, blue eyes, and wearing a white sleeveless shirt a with blue trim and balloons on it. She was also wearing a three-section skirt with three shades of pink, white leggings and blue and pink heeled strapped sandals.

Alongside them was a very beautiful woman with purple hair, deep blue eyes, a light blue sleeveless blouse with diamond patterns at the bottom, and light purple skirt and purple high heels. Adorning her outfit were a bunch of rimstones and a gold bracelet adorned her left wrist.

Joining them were three other girls. One had red hair with yellow-blond streaks and cyan eyes, wearing an orange t-shirt with a design that looked like a yellow and red yin-yang sun styled amulet, a leather biker vest, a purplish skirt and studded belt along with studded black high heeled boots.

Beside her was a bespeckled girl with dark purple hair with violet and rose-colored streaks. She wore a cyan polo styled shirt with blue stripes, a rose-colored tie and a purple skirt with light violet stars and large bright rose-colored stars adorning it, as well as sneakers that shared her skirt's design.

And rounding off the group was a very shy young girl wearing a white blouse with a light green skirt, pink stockings and green boots. She had by far the most the most innocent looking face that was slightly covered by her long light pink hair her opal eyes darting around as if she were nervous about something. But by far, the most noticeable thing about this last girl, was that she was the most, developed, of the girls in terms of her upper figure.

"So...tell us more about this guy we're supposed to be meeting Rainbow." The farmer girl, Applejack said to her friend.

"Well, honestly I don't know much. All I know is that he's really good at martial arts and that he's starting school here today. So since he's new I thought it'd be nice to show him around." Rainbow explained.

"All I'm hearing is that we get to have a new friend!" Shouted the dark pink haired girl, also known as Pinkie Pie.

"Is he cute?" Asked the purple haired girl know as Rarity, as she was checking her make up.

"Is that really all you can think about? Whether a boy is cute or not?" Asked the redhead, Sunset Shimmer.

"Is there anything else?' Rarity responded with a cheeky smirk.

Sunset rolled her eyes at her friend. Ever the boy crazy fashionista. The bespeckled girl, Twilight Sparkle, giggled at her friends' antics before turning to Rainbow Dash.

"So what's he like?" She asked.

Rainbow scratched her head. "Well, he's kind of nice, I guess he's kind of cute, a little smug, and he did manage to get a chuckle out of me once or twice."

Applejack smirked, "Heh heh, he almost sounds like you Rainbow Dash."

Rainbow Blushed and smiled sheepishly. "Yeah. Heh heh heh."

"So, what exactly does this 'Ranma' person look like?" Asked Rarity.

"Well, he's about our age, around 5' 8" I think, and..."

"Uh, would he happen to have braided black hair, blue eyes, wear a red shirt and black pants that make him look like something from an old kung fu movie?" Rarity asked.

"Yeah, that sounds about right. But he was wearing a karate uniform when I saw him last. Wait, how do you know that Rarity?" Rainbow asked.

"Look." She replied and pointed in front of her.

The friends looked to wear she was pointing and saw a lone figure coming towards the school. And the figure was just as Rarity described him, but what she forgot to mention was the fact that he was walking on top of a fence. On. His. Hands.

The figure was indeed Ranma, and as he approached the school, he sprung off of his hands summersaulted three times in mid-air, and landed in a crouch in front of the group. He then stood up throwing his arms out above his head and said, "TA DA!"

"OOOOOO!" said Pinkie as she and the rest of the gang clapped and applauded the short show of acrobatics.

Ranma did a quick bow. As he rose back up, he quickly took notice of the audience surrounding him. He recognized Rainbow Dash, and he guessed the others were her friends.

'Are all the girls in this town this freaking cute?' He asked himself.

"Hey Rainbow. So, um, are these your friends?" Ranma asked.

"Hey Ranma! And yeah, these are my friends." Rainbow waves her hand towards her friends. "Allow me in introduce the best amigos anyone could ask for!" The farm girl came forward and shook Ranma's hand.

"Hi, I'm Applejack. But my friends call me either Jackey or AJ."

"Hi AJ, name's Ranma" Ranma said as he shook her hand. "You've got a good grip."

AJ giggled. "Thanks. Happens when you work on a farm all day long."

The redhead then walked up to Ranma. "Hi, I'm Sunset Shimmer. Nice to meet cha."

"Likewise."

'She seems like the cool chick type.' Ranma thought to himself.

The next to approach Ranma was the beautiful fashionista. She held out her hand in expectation for him to kiss it.

"Rarity. Charmed." She said.

Ranma took her hand in his and shook it like he normally would.

"Nice to meet cha." Ranma said. Rarity accepted it, but was a little put off by his choice of actions.

Next up was the bespecled girl. "Konichiwa Ranma-san. Ore wa Twilight Sparkel."

Ranma was taken aback. "You speak Japanese?" He asked the girl in Japanese.

She nodded. "I'm fluent in about 7 different languages."

Ranma couldn't help but whistle. That was indeed impressive. Suddenly he was tackled by a pink blur.

"OOFFFF!" Ranma cried out as the dark pink haired girl tackled and squeezed the life out of him.

"HI I"M PINKIE PIE! HOW ARE YOU?! YOU'RE CUTE! WHERE'RE YOU FROM?! ARE YOU SINGLE...OWOWOWOWOW!" She cried as Applejack grabbed her by the hair and pulled her off of the prone young man.

"Pinkie! Down girl! You're scaring the poor boy!"

After Jacky pried Pinkie off of Ranma, he got back on his feet and brushed himself off.

"Does she do that all the time?" He asked the girls.

"Uh, yeah...You'll have to forgive Pinkie. She's the over excitable type." Says Rainbow Dash.

"Yeah, I can tell." Ranma said as he recomposed himself. That's when he noticed one last girl hiding behind the others. Sunset notices her friend hiding behind her and pushes her forward towards Ranma.

"Go on. Introduce yourself. Don't be rude." And as she pushed the light pink haired girl forward, Ranma couldn't help but notice two VERY prominent features of the seemingly shy girl.

'STACKED!' He shook his head to clear his thoughts.

"Hi, I'm Ranma. What's your name?"

"H-Hello... n-nice to meet you... I'm- I'm... Fluttershy..." she says hiding behind her long light pink hair. Ranma looked confused.

"I'm sorry. What was that?" He asked.

"I'm...I'm...Fluttershy." She said so low he couldn't hear her.

"Um...could you repeat that a little louder?" Ranma asked as he leaned in closer.

"I'm...Fluttershy." She said.

Ranma leaned in a little more. "One more time please?"

"I'm...Flutter...*SMACK* I'M FLUTTERSHY!" She screamed as she felt someone slapped her butt. She turned and glared at the culprit...Pinkie Pie. Pinkie just smiled.

"Thanks Pinkie." Fluttershy said.

"You're welcome." Answered Pinkie Pie.

Ranma smiles and bows his head to her. "Well it's nice to meet you, Fluttershy." Fluttershy blushed at this.

"OH! I just remembered. I haven't given you your welcome party yet!" Cried Pinkie Pie.

"Welcome...party?" Ranma asked in confusion.

"Oh no..." The other girls said as they face palmed.

Suddenly, Pinkie pulled a strange contraption out of nowhere! She presses the button and music starts playing.

"Welcome, welcome, welcome!

I say welcome to you!

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome

I say how do you do!?

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!

Hip, hip, hip, HOORAY!

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome

To Canterlot High TODAY!"

Ranma looked confused as Pinkie power slid in front of him. He looked at her dumbfounded.

"Um...Thanks..." Pinkie then jumped in front and put a finger to his lips.

"Uh uh uh, wait for it...!" Pinkie said to him.

"For what?" Ranma asked. As he asked, the rest of the girls plunged their ears and braced themselves.

Then suddenly...KABOOM!

The strange contraption that Pinkie pulled out, fired confetti like it was a canon! Ranma coughed as the smoke cleared.

"*Cough*...Oh...*cough*...that."

Ranma and the girls brushed the confetti off of themselves as Pinkie giggled. Ranma looked at the others.

"Does she do this all the time?" He asked. Sunset rubbed her arm in embarrassment.

"Only when she meets someone new that she likes."

Ranma just smiled and shook his head in exasperation. He looked at Rainbow Dash and said, "Huh, I feel so lucky."

The bell rang and Twilight started freaking out.

"AAAAHHHHH! That's the warning bell! We're going to be late!" She then ran off. Ranma looked at her retreating form and blinked. Rainbow Dash scratched the back of her head.

"Heh heh. Yeah...Twilight really likes school."

"I can tell." Ranma replied.

"So, shall head off?" He asked.

"Follow me new friend!" Cried Pinkie as she bounced off towards the school going, "Lala la lala..."

As Ranma followed the rest of the girls he couldn't help but think. 'Master, what have you gotten me into?'
