"Thank you"

My Lord and I have been apart for long

I continued my search, firm to find him

When something strange caught me my attention

I gasped, aghast by a view oh so grim

Before my eyes lay villagers, murdered

Men, women and children… all were lifeless

In the midst of the carnage stood a man

He gazed around looking pleased and guiltless

I carefully backed away from the scene

But a twig snapped; I felt his glare on me

His lips curled into a smile, cruel fangs shone

He laughed as I ran; where… I couldn't see

Through oak and ash I flee the horrid sight

Desperate, I keep running from that sound

Cold laughter, echoing in the forest

My swift feet will not let me turn around

I jump and dodge, trying to get far away

But he is following me, gaining too

I want to stop and fight, avenge the dead

But I can't, my human form just won't do

Suddenly, a pain runs through my body

I see him; he smiles as I hit the ground

A silver blade through my back to my chest

Is this the cruel fate to which I am bound?

He takes out the blade and looks at it, proud

"'Tis not each day I kill such pretty prey"

He says in an evil, bone chilling tone

"Take my name with you; I'm the demon, Grey"

I feel my crimson blood slowly drip down

My vision darkens… sole see endless night

With no stars nor moon to guide my way home…

But when all hope had faded, I saw light

A man with silver hair gracefully lands

Beside me, entering my so dimmed sight

This man confronts the hunter before him

My Lord came; everything shall be all right

"If you defy me, your death you shall find"

Warned the hunter, a voice like biting cold

My master smirks, not afraid of his threat

"By touching this girl, your death's been foretold…"

With his words, Master engages battle

Swords clash, two demonic auras collide

I lay on the ground, motionless; I wait

For the victor, or lady death inside

Gradually, I feel I'm slipping away

I fear… fear I may not last 'till the end

A single tear slides down; I can't stop it

On the verge of life, one to fright can tend

I close my eyes; my senses are parting

My consciousness flickers, fights to remain

But the black waters are engulfing me

Looking at me are orbs red with disdain

This awful silence; I am goin' insane

I call out for my Lord, but have no voice

I try again, my lips won't move, nothing

No control over my body, no choice…

All of a sudden, strong arms pick me up

I cannot see his face for I am blind

Placing a gentle kiss on my numb lips

My Lord… I smile in relief in my mind

In his embrace, at long last I feel safe

Now I am sure… sure that I will not die

I can sense well his deep apprehension

Fear not, this is not our final goodbye

Now in his presence, I can talk once more

In weak whisper I say, "Thank you… my Lord"

My body is just about to collapse

He smiles, "You need not even say a word"

With him there, she falls in oblivion

The demon holds her close to him, his heart

"All will be fine, you are with me again…

Never again will we be kept apart…"

Author's Note: Ha, three guesses for who the "man with silver hair" is... Yes, he got his arm back. By the way, the girl's name is Sayo, you'll see her in an Inuyasha fic I'm currently working on. In case people are wondering (or can't count), it's a ten beat poem, with the following rhyme pattern: A-B-C-B. Go english class!
