What a night that had been. She should probably be concerned that he had kissed her so soon. But, still. It was something, and Callie had never been kissed before, not even by family. Oh, that's depressing. He's the only person that has kissed me. At least, that's all I can remember.
It was late in the morning, but she still hadn't gotten up. She just kept staring at the ceiling, thinking about Shark, and who's kissed her and who hasn't. In fact, she was so deep in thought that she didn't even hear someone coming up the stairs. Knock, Knock, Knock. Closing her eyes, she shook her head.
"Callie, are you awake? It's almost noon! You good?" Marie asked, cracking the door open and popping her head inside. Even with this interruption, Callie still didn't budge. Marie groaned, "CALLIE! GET UP! I'll have Four jump on you if you don't get up in the next five seconds!"
Four bounded up the stairs when she heard the chance to get back at Callie, "Perfect!" She tapped her fingers together, only moving five fingers, since the ones that got stepped on broke. Five seconds passed and Marie opened the door all the way, making a clear entrance for Four.
"Ready, Four? 3, 2, 1. GO!" Shouted Marie.
Callie shot up when she heard the little tap, tap, tap of Four's feet as she came runnin' for the bed. Throwing the blankets off, she dove off the bed. And it was a good thing she dove, because Four went gliding right above her.
Callie let out a high-pitched scream, "OKAY! I'M UP! JUST DON'T HURT ME!" Taking a deep breath, she stood up and asked, "What do you want that was so urgent you asked Four to jump on me?"
Laughing, Marie retorted, "Because I was talking to you, then yelled at you, and threatened you, and you still seemed to ignore me! What were you even doing?"
"Thinking," Callie huffed.
Staring, Marie looked to the ceiling and remarked, "Well that's not a good thing."
In confusion, Callie furrowed her eyebrows. Taking a hot second to realise she had been insulted, she asked, "What do you mean!?"
"Nothing. Could you tell me what you were thinking about?"
Four perked up, "Yeah! Watcha thinkin' 'bout?"
Callie knew she was in trouble. Telling Marie her personal life problems was never a good thing. She would always laugh and end up making things worse! Just as she was about to accept defeat, there was a knock at the door. Who could that be?
Marie looked behind and sighed, "You are so lucky this got interrupted!" Marie walked down the stairs and opened the door. She flinched to see a handsome man standing in front of her. Shark looked almost as surprised as Marie did.
"Oh! Uh, is Callie here? I kinda… umm… nevermind." Shark stammered.
Marie got this wicked grin on her face as she shouted, "Callie! I think your boyfriend is here!"
Poking her head out of her doorway, Callie asked, "My… My what?" She looked to see who was at the door, and practically had a heart attack, "WHA-! What are you doing here? I-I-I… who are you?" Of all the things I could have said, I decided to play stupid, even though I acknowledged who he was, and freaking asked why he was here! You're such an idiot! She speedily hid behind a dresser.
"What do you mean? You… I… We… Huh?" Shark faltered.
Looking between the two, Marie pointed back and forth, "Um, what uh… What's this? I feel like I'm missing something."
Callie leaned far enough that only Marie could see her. She glared and rasped, "You are not missing anything! Just close the door! Pleeease!"
Marie just shrugged and turned back to Shark, "So, what did you want Callie for?"
"Well, I've come to ask her if she would like to… to have dinner with me."
"Wha-what? You mean, like a date?" Marie spat.
"No! Actually, wait. Yeah. Kinda like a date."
Marie whipped around to Callie, and whispered, "Is this the boy you have been with? The problem?"
Callie opened her mouth to protest, but immediately snapped it shut. She couldn't even say her response verbally, so she nodded. Marie nodded a little bit and faced him. She clasped her hands together and smiled at him.
"Sorry, but she can't. She's busy." And with that, she slammed the door in his face.
"What did you do that for? It's not like he did anything wrong, did he?!" Callie snarled. I can't believe the nerve of some people! Who did she think she is, her mom!? Last I checked, I had no mom, and Marie certainly wasn't! She stormed off to her room and slammed the door, causing the paintings on her wall to rattle.
She continued to throw pillows at her wall until the sun was long gone. After one last groan of frustration, she had an idea. How pleasant. What Marie didn't know was that the garbage chutes lead to the bottom floor, which means she could sneak out. Quietly opening her door, she tip-toed down the stairs, and to the garbage chute.
Opening the garbage chute, Callie slid in, her slim form a perfect fit. When she got to the bottom she was launched out, and did two whole flips and landed in a trash can. She jumped out before she puked, and headed towards a window. She opened it and climbed out, then went out into the square to find Shark sitting on a bench, hunched over. She walked over and sat beside him.
"Hi. How are you doing?" Callie quietly asked, gently touching his arm.
Shark moved his arm away and countered, "How do you think I'm doing? What do you want?"
"I just wanted you to know that what Marie said wasn't true. She lied. I… accept your offer."
He hesitantly looked up at her, as if he couldn't believe what she was saying. Slowly, a smile spread across his face. He nodded and stood up, "Well, have a pleasant night, miss." He grabbed her hand and kissed it softly.
"You too." Callie replied.
"Meet me here at around 7." And with that, Shark winked and left her on the bench.
Though it was the middle of the night, she was warm, full of bliss. What a perfect night! Wait, what am I gonna tell Marie? Ah well, I'll improvise! She ran back to the window, but when she went to open it, it was locked. Oh no! No, no, no! She started to frantically try to open it, but she must have caused a lot of noise because someone shouted, "Burglar!" and called the cops. A few minutes later, the cops came and arrested her.
One of them huffed, "I never thought you would stoop so low as to do this! Just because you guys became unpopular, doesn't mean you get to rob!"
"Bu-but, I-I-I wasn't! I was just trying to get back inside!" stuttered Callie.
"That's what they all say!" the cop retorted.
"But-!"
He slapped her on the face and pointed at her, "Not another sound outta you!"
It was the morning of the next day, and Callie just sat on her little cot, moping around, when her cell door opened. She jerked her head up and was amazed. Marie was actually here! Marie lifted her hands and punched the palm of one, repeating it two more times.
Gulping, Callie shakily said, "Hey… Marie. How are you?"
"I had to spend 20,000 cash on you!" Marie spat, "What were you even doing? Please don't tell me you snuck out to be with him!"
"Hehe, that was just a guess?" Callie laughed weakly.
"You were! I told you he was trouble! Let's just. Let's just go home!" When Marie was done scolding her, Callie got up and looked to the ground as she followed, not daring to make eye contact with Marie.
