Tonight's the night Olivia will be performing for the first time in many years.
After Jake and Olivia married, Jake decided that it was best for her to take a break from her music career and just focus on their marriage and expanding their family, and Olivia had agreed. She was ready to be somebody's mama.
Everyone who is anyone will be at the event tonight; Harrison and Whitney Wright, Elizabeth North, Marcus Walker, Abby Whelan, Quinn Perkins, etc. The list of the greatest artists to ever do it just goes on.
One person in particular that Olivia is extremely nervous about seeing again is her old lover, manager, business partner, and what she used to consider as her dearest friend, Fitzgerald Grant III. Fitz and Olivia's relationship took a turn for the worst after she announced that she was getting married.
The thing that you might find the silliest is that he was the married one when they were "seeing each other on the low."
Olivia had become tired and irritated at just being the "best friend" in the spotlight, so she did what any woman in her right mind would do, she got herself a man of her own.
However, that was many years ago and the old feelings she once had for Fitz are long gone. Hopefully now that years has passed and they both have families of their own, they'll be able to move on and reconcile their friendship, because she really does miss him, and she can only hope that he misses her too.

"Jake, you're coming with me to the event tonight, correct," Olivia asked as she stored away her makeup and glanced over her shoulder at him.
Their marriage wasn't perfect by far. People had actually told Olivia not to marry Jake, but she knew that she was neither perfect so she pursued the relationship with him anyway. Together, she and Jake shared two sons, Nolan and Asher, and they were her absolute world. She'd given up so much of herself for the men in her life and she would do again and again for sons, but for her husband, she wasn't quite so sure.
Olivia often only saw the good in people, even when they bluntly did her wrong and as the years passed by, Olivia realized that more and more that that's what she'd done with Jake. But, she did however have true love for him, and she wanted their marriage to work. She wanted so badly to prove the naysayers wrong.
"Oh damn, that's- that's tonight? I won't be able to make it, Liv. I'm so sorry, babe." Jake answered with little indication in his voice that he was, in fact sorry.
Olivia turned to fully face him on. "And why can't you make it tonight, Jake," she asked. "You know how important this is to me!"
"Look Liv, I said I was sorry but I have business to handle as well as you do. I'll make it up to you. I swear."
Olivia sighed and shook her head. This was so typical of him to cancel at the very last minute. It baffled her how she was to always bend and break for him but when it came to her, he showed little to no interest in the things that were very important to her. She was getting sick and tired of being embarrassed by his inconsiderate actions which often left her trying to come up with some sort of lie to why he wasn't around to support her.
"You know what, it's fine," she finally said, not wanting to start an argument with him. "Baby, just make sure the boys are ready before I get back. Please? I have rehearsal in about thirty minutes and I'll be home right after, so please make sure they actually shower and are ready."
"Yeah. Sure, Liv."
After kissing Jake goodbye, she left in her black Audi, going to where the event was being held. At her arrival, she parked and headed inside to start rehearsal with the band and complete soundcheck with the production crew.
Jake was long forgotten once she began singing. Being back on stage felt so amazing.
In that moment, she realized she could still have the career she wanted although she was a mother. Plenty of women did it.

Tonight's the night he'll get to see many familiar faces that he's worked with throughout the years and those who has made it to the top. Excitement is understatement for how he's feeling for many reasons mainly because he'll get to see Olivia Pope.
God he's missed her.
He remembers acting like a total asshole when she announced that she was getting married, and although he knows that he was the married one when they were "fooling around", he felt that since he was willing to risk his own marriage to be with her, then he deserved more from Olivia and not her betrayal.
He was soon brought out of his thoughts by his sweet little angel.
"Daddy! Can we go now? I am starving," Katie whined as she climbed into her father's lap. Fitz chuckled, placing down his pen then he twisted one of her dark curls. The stylist had given her a half up-half down style and curled her ends so beautifully.
"Yeah, let me just get my shoes and jacket on and I'll be ready to go," Fitz answered. "You look very pretty, ladybug," he added, twirling her around and making her yellow, fluffy dress flow with the wind.
"Thank you, daddy," she giggled adorably.
Fitz's sons entered the room shortly after. They were as handsome as their father, dressed in their black tuxedos with their curly, dark brown hair gelled back. "We're ready, dad. Let's go have some fun," Teddy said, causing his big brother, Felix to side eye him and shake his head, "Dude, this party is for old people! No one's going to have fun except for them."
Fitz chuckled. "Old people party? You know, we older people can get just as 'turned up' as you youngsters can, kid."
"Dad, no." Felix cringed, shaking his head. "Hey, why are you so excited anyway? You usually hate these type of events. Is it because Ms. Olivia is going to be there," he asked, teasing his dad with a smirk and looking in his direction.
Felix vaguely remembers Olivia coming around when she and Fitz used to work together, for he was only a small child when she did. Once he was older, he had read about how close they were, and even in their photos and interviews together they looked so happy. Felix often wondered what happened between them, but he'd never really asked his dad.
Fitz tried to play it off and answer his son nonchalantly. "I do not hate these events, Felix. And I heard she was in the lineup, and it would be great to see her, but I'm just excited to get on stage to perform again."
With that being said, Felix laughed and mumbled, "Yeaaah. Sure, dad". Fitz began to laugh as well before shooing all of them out of his room so he could finish getting dressed.
His kids were a handful, but he was grateful for them. They kept him on his toes and in the loop for all of the new things happening in the world. His sons, Felix and Teddy were from his first wife, Ashlin, and little Katie was a product of his recent ex-wife, Mellie.
Though none of his marriages worked out with the mothers of his children, that didn't stop him from being a hands on dad. He loved his kids more than anything, and no matter what their mothers had to say about him, they could never say that he wasn't a fantastic father and great provider.
After they were all dressed and ready for the long night, Fitz gathered his boys and princess into the limo and the driver drove them to the huge venue. Once they arrived, the kids wanted to sit and Fitz was fine with that as he went on a mission to find Olivia, but instead he ran into his buddy and old business partner, Cyrus.
"Hey, buddy," Cy said, smiling at Fitz.
"Hey, man. Have you..have you seen Olivia," Fitz asked, still glancing around for her. Cyrus chuckled quietly as he shook his head. He knew all about Liv and Fitz's past relationship. And he knew they were both idiots for trying to deny their love.
"Yeah, she and I actually caught up earlier, but she's gone now."
"What? Gone? Isn't she performing," Fitz asked worriedly, and Cyrus informed him that Olivia had come for soundcheck, but wouldn't be back until the show started.
"Damn," Fitz murmured checking his gold watch. Two more hours to go until he saw her. He couldn't wait.
This is a story I'd written for another fandom. However, I love my Olitz, so I changed up a few things and made it to fit them in a way.
I hope you enjoy the highs and lows of this story and feel free to leave your comments. Good or bad!
Also, the next chapter for Upside will be uploaded soon!
