Reach for the Stars
Part One
PROLOGUE
How many more times did she have to take it? The snarls, the ridicule and the pure hateful looks sent her way any time she left her home to walk amongst them. They tell her she isn't one of them, that she will never be one of them. Nothing more than a pet, maybe even less.
So, when the male shoved her for getting too close to him, it was a wonder how she hadn't snapped long before now. Rage flooded her veins now though, and to everyone else's shock, she shoved him back in an act of initiating a challenge. Many probably wondered how she was even able to budge him, even if it was only a step back, because he stood at least 7ft tall with 300+ pounds of pure muscle, to her 5'10 and 145lbs. She was tiny compared to him, but her rage gave her the strength she needed, in that moment.
The male roared at her, and the teeming market street cleared as the crowd gave them a wide berth for the fight that was to come. And it had been a long time coming.
She had spent years being mindful of their hierarchy and doing her best to stay out of their way, despite their need to go out of their way to make her life a living hell. But today, she had had enough.
She faced the male squarely, watching him as he widened his feet into a familiar stance, his arms flexing out at his sides when he roared another challenge to her. Deep down, she knew the smartest thing would have been to back down, before she took this too far, but she was too far gone already, to think straight.
Instead, she charged towards the male with a roar of her own, an answer to his challenge.
She was done backing down.
When she was almost within reaching distance from him, and he made a move to grab for her, she dropped into a slide, one foot pointing further than the other, as she slid across the ground on her hip, her coverings protecting her from road rash. She raked her armored nails at the back of his legs, as she slid passed them, and his pained roar had her grinning almost manically.
Before he could react, she was already using her arms to lift her body up high enough, to split her legs and landed a kick at his back, with enough momentum, that the clawed talons decorating her boot cut through his thick hide, and he staggered away from her, his body hunching in pain.
Bringing her leg back down, she then thrusted her body back up to her feet and danced back out of his reach, as he swung around to try and grab for her again. Neon green blood dripped from her nails and coated her left boot, and at the sight of having drawn first blood, she couldn't help but smirk with satisfaction.
The roaring crowd was quiet around them now, no longer cheering the male on, but watching in what could only be, disbelief. As shocked as a superior race could look, that is. They had thought she was weak and small. They had thought she was just prey.
Something with no worth.
She would show them. She would show them all she was one of them.
And he would have to notice her then.
She wasn't a child anymore, or some pet that needed to be looked after. She would show him if it was the last thing she did.
AN:
This story is an idea that I have been wanting to do for years. I wanted to give Wolf a story of his own and this idea popped into myself while writing The Hunt Continues to give Wolf his own story. So while this story will have some familiar characters in it from the Hunt Series, it is in no way part of that Series. Let me know what you think.
Disclaimer: I do not own AVP, nor do I own the Image used to represent this story. I saw it online on a female predator forum and since I can't draw, thought this image fit my story idea pretty well.
