Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock.
Ding-dong. Ding-dong. Ding-dong.
"Goten…" 'Get in here before you wake Kari. She just went down for her nap.' Trunks growled before telepathically speaking to Goten.
"I told you he'd be frustrated if you did that." Gohan stated as he and Goten walked in.
"Hey, it's been awhile." Goten greeted Trunks with a smile.
"I saw you a few days ago." Trunks replied, shifting Kari a little.
"How is Kari feeling? We vaguely heard what happened." Gohan questioned before Goten could say anything.
"I knew it wouldn't take long. I'm guessing Mom called your mom." Trunks muttered.
"Yep." Goten replied.
"But we're staying out of it. All I know is your mom begged our mom and Videl to talk to you." "So, here we are." Goten interrupted Gohan.
"That young, huh?" Gohan questioned, noticing Akio watching Kari.
"Huh?" Goten questioned, scratching his head.
"Yes, and you say nothing to anybody—especially your father and Yamcha. I don't want Mom and Dad finding that one out yet. But anyway, Gohan, Goten: these are Kagome and Sesshomaru and their children, Towa, Setsuna, Moroha, and Akio. We met them on Kari's first day of Daycare; the children are her friends. Kagome, Sesshomaru, kids: these are my two best friends since I was a child, Gohan and his younger brother, Goten. Gohan is married and has a daughter, who is… How old are all of you now?" Trunks introduced everyone before questioning.
"Videl and I were told that we were now permanently thirty and Pan is fourteen and will stop looking like she ages at seventeen." Gohan answered.
"I'm eighteen now." Goten answered with a stupid smile.
"So, we're the same age, then." Trunks responded, standing up.
"For now. You'll be nineteen in about three and a half months." Gohan stated, watching Trunks place Kari in his chair.
"You're ok. I'm not going anywhere. Just sleep, and when you get up and are feeling better, we'll talk about getting you a kitten or two." Trunks gently told Kari once it looked like she was going to fuss.
Slowly, Trunks put the footrest up, ensuring Kari wouldn't fall off the chair.
"Kittens, huh? I didn't think your mom wanted you having kittens." Goten questioned, watching Trunks.
"I love my mom, but at this moment, I don't care what she wants or not. Right now, I'm angry with her; she's crossed so many lines. And the one consistent thing Kari asks for, is a kitten." Trunks calmly replied.
"You know: as stupid as a mistake as you made, you are a great father to Kari. I wish I had a child like you. Then Kari and my child could've been friends. I should've had a child too." Goten half-seriously told Trunks.
"Don't you let Mom hear that one. She'll never let you leave the house again; she'll chain you up in the basement—if you're lucky. A closet if you're not." Gohan told Goten, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Trust me; you don't want to be a teen parent. Don't get me wrong: I love Kari more than anything or anybody in the entire universe, but raising a child isn't easy. I wish I were smart enough not to fall for my teacher's bull crap. But I wasn't, and I got the best part of my life. I honestly couldn't see my life without Kari anymore." Trunks seriously told Goten.
"He's right. And he's doing it on his own now. Sure, he had his parents' help, but now he's by himself. I love Pan dearly, but I don't know how'd handle being a single parent." Gohan added.
"Besides, you'd have to get a solid girlfriend first." Trunks stated, throwing shade at Goten.
"That's just hurtful." Goten grumbled.
"Oh, whatever." Trunks and Gohan responded.
"Oh. So, what did Gohan mean before?" Goten questioned, watching Trunks and Gohan.
"What do you mean?" Trunks asked, only slightly confused.
"When he said, "that young, huh?" And then you said we weren't allowed to tell anyone. What did that mean?" Goten questioned, raising an eyebrow: he hated being left out.
"What? What's going on? What did all that mean?" Goten questioned, seeing a blank look on Trunks's face.
"I'm going to the bathroom; I'll be right back." Trunks muttered, turning to head to his room.
"What? What'd I say?" Goten questioned, scratching his head.
"The boy over there—Akio." Gohan started, pointing to Akio.
"Yeah? What about him?" Goten questioned, still confused.
"Good lord, you're hopeless. Akio is Kari's intended proper mate; they are meant to be together for the rest of their lives." Gohan told Goten, shaking his head.
"But she's what? Three? She's far too young, isn't she?" Goten questioned, taken aback.
"Yes, she's three, and she'll be three for another year or two—I think. But anyway… That would be why Trunks doesn't want to talk about it, and why he gave you that blank look." Gohan further explained, slightly annoyed.
"But—she's three. He's just going to let them date? You won't even let Pan date yet." Goten questioned, freaked out.
"Oh, I highly doubt it. She's three and he's… I'm sorry: how old is Akio?" Gohan started only to ask Kagome and Sesshomaru, realizing he didn't know how old Akio was.
"Third year of being four." Akio answered, watching Kari.
"Thank you. She's three and he's four. I know Trunks doesn't want to picture Kari dating at all, but he knows better; he knows she'll date. However, I do know he wants her to have friends." "But knowing she's got someone already?" Goten interrupted Gohan.
"Wow. Mom was right; you do have a horrible habit of interrupting people. One: Kari is Trunks's daughter, not any of ours. He's raising her just fine his way, yet he knows he can't be her best friend. Two: he's not going to let them date now; I'm sure he just wants them to be friends for the time being. And I'm sure as they grow older, he'll have them monitored. I know him well enough. Three: at least, knowing she has who she's meant to be with, Trunks knows she won't have to go through heartache through heartache to find who she's meant to be with. Trunks knows that she'll always be taken care of. Just watching Akio; I can tell he's going to be protective. Not as protective as Trunks, but pretty damn close. Four: Pan is my daughter, not Trunks's. She's only fourteen—and she doesn't have whoever she's meant to be with yet." Gohan told Goten with his eyes twitching.
Meanwhile, the girls were watching them go back and forth.
At the same time, Sesshomaru was sitting with his eye closed.
"Fine, I get it. I just thought that I'd have a son, and he and Kari would be together, bringing our families together. Trunks and I really would be brothers." Goten sighed.
"One: you'd have to get a girlfriend first. Two: you'd have to pray you'd find one soon because Kari's three. Even if she didn't already have Akio, I'm not so sure she'd date someone several years younger than herself." Gohan stated.
"Maybe. But if I had a child who aged every year, he'd be older." Goten stated.
"Yeah? Ok, I'll play your game. Say you have a son within the next year. Kari will be four by the time your child is half a year. By the time she reaches ten, your child would be eighteen or nineteen. I highly doubt Trunks will let your child date Kari with that age difference—unless they were meant to be—which they wouldn't be. Not to mention, they wouldn't be dating for yeas and years. And by the time Kari would be sixteen, your child would be in their late thirties. Man, I wish Pan aged like that. But do you see my point. Goten: We're not biologically related, but Trunks will always be our brother in some way. You don't always need to be blood to be related. Kari is our niece. It's nice knowing nothing will happen to Trunks, but if something were to happen to him, you or I would get Kari. Don't even. Especially after learning what we learned today: Trunks's personal issues with his mom, are his." Gohan firmly told Goten.
"Yes, I get it. Do you think he'll have more kids?" Goten replied before questioning with a smile.
"Ok. No. Nope. We don't have time for this: Mom and Dad are waiting to go out for dinner. It was nice meeting all of you. Trunks! We're heading out now!" Gohan huffed before telling Kagome, Sesshomaru, and the children. He then called down the hall.
"Kay. See you later." Trunks replied, walking down the hall.
"See ya around. Come on, Goten." Gohan replied, dragging Goten to the door.
"Oh, hello." Gohan and Goten greeted a young girl who was about to knock on the door as soon as they opened it.
"Is someone here?" 'Now, who's here? I'm not expecting anyone else.' Trunks questioned, confused.
"Yeah. A pretty young thing. Are you lost? I'm sure I can show you where you need to go." Goten replied before asking the girl with a stupid smile, making her nervous.
"Sorry about my brother. Can I ask what you are doing here? Are you looking for someone in particular?" Gohan apologized for Goten before questioning, watching the girl. He couldn't put his finger on it, but he thought she looked familiar.
"I'm here for a Mr. Trunks Briefs." The girl softly spoke.
"Well, I'm Trunks's best friend… Ow!" Goten exclaimed after Trunks hit him over the head.
"Oh, wow." Trunks marveled at the girl on his porch before he could say something to Goten. Just looking at the girl, he could tell he knew her from somewhere. Not only that, but when his eyes met hers, he knew she was who he was meant to be.
The girl had waist-length pinkish-purple hair and red eyes.
"Come on, Goten. See you later." Gohan spoke, dragging Goten away.
"May I come in? I need to speak to you—about Kari." The girl softly spoke.
"You know Kari? How do you know Kari?" Trunks questioned, becoming defensive.
"May we come in and talk, please?" The girl questioned.
"Come in. And talk." Trunks allowed the girl inside.
"You don't look old enough to be a teacher." Sesshomaru noted right away.
"I'm not a teacher." "Who are you?" Trunks demanded, interrupting the girl.
"Clearly, nobody got in contact with you. My name is Kori Chambers, I'm seventeen, Sumire Chambers is my older sister, and Kari—your Kari—is my biological daughter. It's a long story—a very long story." This girl, Kori, started softly answering Trunks, standing there.
"Kari is half cat!" Moroha argued.
"And no offense, but I don't know you. I never had relations with you." Trunks added, narrowing his eyes.
"Yes, of course; she's half Nekodian. I am a full Nekodian." Kori softly spoke, removing her hat and letting down her hair, which had been covering black and brown cat ears.
"Where's your tail?" Setsuna and Towa questioned.
"I don't have one anymore. And if I could continue, please. No, we never had relations. And I honestly don't know you—or Kari. I only found out a few months ago that Kari is my biological daughter." Kori softly continued.
"She tells the truth." The voice from before spoke up again.
"Who's that?" Kori panicked; her ears started twitching wildly.
"Again, I'm of no one of concern. But I know you. However, I thought you were dead. Most full Nekodians are dead, are they not? I saw them eradicated years ago. You're just as quiet and anxious as your—who are you? Can you get a hold of your council for me? I'll be back." The voice replied before becoming flustered.
"That was different." Akio noted, standing in front of Kari.
"You're Kari's chosen one." Kori noted, watching Akio.
"What of it?" Akio defensively demanded.
"It's a relief." Kori replied.
"Eradicated?" Trunks questioned, watching Kori.
"Yes, this is true. Nekodians possess the ability to heal and give immortality. Only a few full Nekodian families survived—mine being one of them. But now, it seems that there are only a few Nekodians left period. Umm… According to my detector, there are only… Oh. Umm… I guess I and one other are the only full ones left." Kori answered before trailing off.
"Kori? Kori!" Trunks yelled, bringing Kori back to reality.
"What?" Kori asked, dazed.
"Are you ok? What's wrong?" Trunks questioned, concerned. He was finding it incredibly difficult to be mad or distrust her.
"Yeah. Sorry. It's just me and one more full Nekodian left. There are still plenty of half Nekodians left though." Kori softly answered.
"So, who are you? How are you Kari's mother?" Trunks questioned again.
"Why are you so skittish? What's got you scared?" Sesshomaru questioned, narrowing his eyes at Kori.
"Umm… I'm afraid of everything. I usually don't venture out of my house—apartment. My sister died in prison—they got her. Sorry. I am Kari's mother because I refused to go out and have relations when she was conceived. Sorry. My mom had me sedated and had a doctor remove my eggs and place them in my sister because she didn't have any good ones. I didn't have any choice." "How old were you then? How old are you now?" Kagome questioned, interrupting Kori.
"Then? Then I was in my fifth year of fourteen. I just turned sixteen two months ago." Kori answered.
"So, you've aged these past few years? You weren't cursed?" Trunks questioned, shocked.
"No." Kori answered.
"Shouldn't you still be fourteen or fifteen? You age every nine years after all." Towa questioned.
"No. I don't age every nine years; I age every six years. Full Nekodians age every six years. Most Nekodains only have nine lives. Nekodians like myself are immortal. I don't know why that is, but I am. So is Kari and anyone she gets close to. She wasn't born until I turned fifteen—so six years ago. I know of the curse, but I wasn't involved in that." Kori answered.
"Are you here looking for custody of Kari?" Kagome inquired, noticing paperwork in Kori's hands. This got Trunks's attention right away. He's had Kari since birth—and through these past few years of the curse. He couldn't imagine life without her.
"No. Yes, it's about custody, but I'm not looking for any kind of custody of her. MmmMmm… She wouldn't be safe with me. Honestly, I'm surprised Kari's not half Nekodian because I know my sister was supposed to keep not only our family going, but to keep the Nekodian race alive. You're not Nekodian." Kori softly answered before noting, watching Trunks.
"No, I'm half human and half Saiyan. Kari is half Saiyan and half Nekodian. Any human in her was pushed out by the Saiyan and Nekodian in her." Trunks answered, watching Kori.
"Oh. Sumire mentioned something about a Saiyan student once. But—and then she mentioned being in a relationship with a student—that's why she ended up in jail." Kori distantly replied.
"What are you here for if not for Kari?" Kagome questioned, getting Kori's attention.
"I'm supposed to get custody—full custody. Until she died a while ago, she was demanding I get full custody, so that when she was old enough, they could force her to mate with a full male Nekodian. But that's not what I wanted. Want. That's not what I want. I didn't even know Kari was biologically mine until a few weeks ago. It got me into a lot of arguments and trouble with Mom. I didn't know about Kari until a few weeks ago, and you've had her all her life. It wouldn't be fair to take her away from all she's known and force her to change everything. I just came to give Mr. Trunks the paperwork, saying I didn't want to take custody away. I wrote in pencil just in case it was wrong. You can look it over and make sure everything is correct or not. And if it's not, I can fix whatever it is that's wrong. I went to the court house place; they gave me everything I would need." Kori softly spoke.
"Do you have autism or something? Is it hereditary?" Sesshomaru questioned, listening to Kori speak and watching her mannerisms.
"Huh?" Kori responded, confused.
"Sesshomaru! You don't just ask that! That's rude!" Kagome exclaimed, smacking Sesshomaru over the head.
"I'm sorry; I don't understand." Kori spoke up, watching Sesshomaru hold Kagome back.
"He's asking about your IQ and mental status. Kari is slower and doesn't pick up things like other children her age." Trunks clarified, taking the paperwork from Kori.
"Oh. That doesn't surprise me. Nekodians: some, like my parents, sister, and brothers were incredibly smart. But for most, like myself, aren't. Most Nekodians are inferior race when it comes to intelligence—and fighting. If you wish to have intelligent fighting cat people, you want Katze-O; they're very clever. I know there's a different word that should be used, but I'm not sure what it is at this moment. I'm sure it's written in one of the history books. But for us Nekodians who aren't very smart: most doctors diagnose us as something called "autism," or mentally slower. Being mentally slower is true, but I don't know what autistic is." Kori softly explained.
"Well—that's just great." Trunks sighed.
"I'm sorry! I'm sooo sorry!" Kori cried, panicking.
"Oh, no. Don't be sorry. It's partially what you said, but it's also this paperwork. And you have autism and autistic mixed up. Doctors diagnose you with autism because they believe you're autistic." Trunks calmly explained, watching Kori.
"What did I fill out wrong?" Kori questioned, confused.
"Before I answer you. Answer me this: do you really not want any custody of Kari? You want me to keep full custody rights of her? You do not wish to get to know her at all?" Trunks questioned, watching Kori.
"Well—honestly, I'd love to get to know her. But I know it's not safe—not with me being full Nekodian. It's not safe. So yes, I'd like it if you kept her and made every decision. I do not wish to have custody." Kori honestly replied.
"Why don't you have your tail? What happened to it? Should Kari's tail be removed? Is it dangerous for anyone?" Trunks questioned, narrowing his eyes.
"Oh—I don't remember. I was really little. All I remember is it was ripped off. No, you don't need to remove Kari's tail; there's nothing dangerous. Why would her having a tail be dangerous?" Kori answered and then asked, confused.
"Saiyans are born with ape tails. If we have our tail and we look at a full moon, we turn into monstrous apes. However, we all have our tails removed, so that doesn't happen. I just wanted to know if her having a Nekodian tail was the same way." Trunks explained.
"Oh. Nope. Our tails keep us balanced. Without them, we tend to fall over more in the dark. We don't have whiskers like cats, so we're supposed to use our tails to help us navigate in the dark. Some of us are lucky enough to have good eyesight. I got lucky like that, so it's not terrible not having a tail. But the paperwork? Did I fill something out wrong?" Kori answered before questioning.
"Nope. Everything is filled out correctly. However, if what you tell me is true about you not wanting custody of Kari, this is the wrong paperwork. This paperwork is to take Kari away from me and into your custody fulltime. But as long as what you say is tru—Kori!" Trunks calmly answered before exclaiming, shocked and concerned.
After hearing Trunk tell her everything was correctly filled out, yet was the wrong paperwork, Kori stiffened up before completely blacking out.
"What happened?" Moroha, Towa, and Setsuna questioned, standing up.
"Well—she is definitely Kari's mother. Or at the very least related to her. I hate to kick you off the couch, but could you all move so that I can place Kori on it?" Trunks sighed before asking the girls.
"She is most definitely Kari's mother." The invisible voice from before spoke up.
"Did you finally get your facts straight?" Sesshomaru questioned, annoyed.
"I did. Now, behave yourself or I will send you back to your homeworld without your girls: you'll be on your own again—except for Jaken and A-un." The voice warned Sesshomaru.
"Anyway: I figured out just who Kori is. Aside from Kari now, Kori is the last remaining member of the royal Nekodian family. Her family went into hiding before she was born when the Nekodian race started being eradicated. A wolf race came and started eradicating them. Kori went unknown the day she was born until the day she turned sixteen." The voice explained.
"So, she's no threat?" Trunks questioned.
"No. But you already knew that, didn't you? Just looking at her, you know. Kori is your true mate—the girl you're meant to be with." The voice spoke.
"So, Kari can have her mother with her?" Kagome inquired.
"That would be up to Trunks and Kori." The voice spoke.
"What's wrong now?" Sesshomaru questioned, watching Kagome.
"It's just kind of sad that Kori didn't get to name her child—or even know about her to be a part of Kari's life. Who named Kari?" Kagome sadly answered before asking.
"She was already named when I picked her up and got custody from Ms. Chambers." Trunks replied.
"Sumire named her Kari after Kori in a sense. Now that the seal's been broken, I know more about Kori. Yes, Sumire had a superiority complex, but she did care for Kori; she tried to teach her. They had a large family. Mom and Dad had Colt, Koi, Cho, Oak, Sayuri and Sumire, Itachi, Ichigo, and Kori. As she grew older, her parents quickly resented putting that seal on Kori, keeping her protected instead of one of their older children." "Why?" Everyone questioned, interrupting the voice.
"For the same reason, almost all of them shunned her; she hindered them. Kori was the only one in their family to not be intelligent like the rest of them. Then when she had the chance to be useful to the family, she refused. Kori refused to meet and have relations with some guy—one of the last few male full Nekodians outside the royal family and have babies with him. For some reason that's still unknown, Kori is the only daughter in the family to be able to have children. Sorry. What I mean is that she was Kori was the only daughter in the royal family with good eggs and could successfully carry a child. The other daughters, Koi, Cho, Sayuri, and Sumire, could carry children. However, they didn't have good eggs that could be fertilized. The boys refused to have children of their own except for Oak; he had a few children, but they're only half Nekodian. They live elsewhere. Oak, Sumire, and Ichigo were the only ones nice to Kori and cared enough for her despite her not being smart like them." The voice answered and continued to explain.
"So, Oak and Kori are the only two living Nekodains left. Why didn't he take her with him?" Trunks questioned.
"He left years ago when his first child was born. He and his wife—fiancé at the time—wanted to take Kori with them, but their parents wouldn't let them. They're not the only two living Nekodians left." The voice spoke.
"Kori looked at something and stated that it was just her and one other." Towa spoke up.
"That's all her sensor will pick up. Her parents and siblings removed themselves from her sensor and faked their deaths. They needed to get away from Kori's ungratefulness and uselessness." "Just because she didn't want to be a mother at fourteen?" Trunks and Kagome demanded, interrupting the voice.
"That's correct. To be specific, the only full Nekodians that are left are Kori, her brothers Oak and Ichigo, and a male outside of their family named Midas. Oak and Ichigo aren't looking for Kori because they don't know she's alive: before their parents were killed, they told them Kori was killed. And Midas is looking for her; their parents told him how to find her—well, that was before she moved a few times. She could've known about Kari months ago had she stayed in one place instead of bouncing around." The voice spoke.
"What do you mean this Midas is hunting her? What does he want? Is he going to kill her or something so that he's the last remaining full Nekodian aside from her brothers?" Setsuna questioned, narrowing her eyes.
"No. He needs her; she's a key to repopulating the Nekodian race. He aims to find Kori and force her to have his babies." "Stop. Just stop. I don't want to hear anymore." "It's ok." Trunks interrupted the voice, having enough, only to be interrupted by Kori, who had come to a little bit ago.
"What's ok?" Kagome, Moroha, Towa, and Setsuna questioned, watching Kori along with Trunks, Sesshomaru, and Akio.
"Everything, I suppose. You don't have to worry about me. I'll be fine." Kori softly spoke with a fake smile.
"What the hell are you talking about? It's not ok for someone to just rape someone just because they want their race to survive." Trunks snapped as quietly as he could as not to wake Kari.
"As long as I keep moving, I'll be ok. Keep moving and keep my ears covered. I don't have a tail anymore, so that makes hiding a little easier." Kori spoke, standing up.
"And what kind of life is that?" Trunks demanded, watching Kori slowly walk away from the couch.
"I don't know—my life I 'spose." Kori answered, frustrating Trunks even more.
"Where are you staying now?" Trunks demanded, narrowing his eyes.
"Here and there. Just around." Kori answered.
"So, you're homeless." Akio finally spoke up.
"I'm fine." Kori answered.
"I may be from the feudal era where there was no showers or anything like that. But since being here, with showers and beds and all that; I don't know if I'd like to live without them again. My questions to you are: when was the last time you had a hot or even just a warm shower? When is the last time you slept in a warm bed with pillows and blankets? When is the last time you had something to eat that wasn't found in the ground or at some fast food place?" Akio continued before questioning.
"Umm…" "Since she was six and her parents realized she was incapable of learning anything. Which is crap. Kori does know how to take care of children and herself and she likes to read. She only knows how to make sandwiches. Otherwise, if she wants something hot, she uses what little money she has to buy something hot from a gas station. She doesn't know how to cook or bake." "That's enough. Thank you for the information, but I think we're good. I'm sure I can get more answers later if I need them." The voice interrupted Kori when she didn't know how to answer Akio. It would've continued if Trunks hadn't put a stop to it; he could tell Kori was becoming upset and embarrassed—which only made her even more upset.
"Ok. Bye. By the way: you're about to have more company." The voice replied before leaving again.
"Let's see… Kari's still asleep. So, now for you…" "Can I just please sign the right papers?" Kori requested, trying not to cry as she interrupted Trunks.
"That would be a no. These aren't the right papers and I know I don't have any other paperwork. Do you have any other paperwork aside from this?" Trunks replied, watching Kori.
"No. So, I guess I'll just go." Kori softly spoke, turning to head to the door.
"Oh, no you don't. I won't make you be Kari's mom if you don't want to be. However, I'm not going to let you go out there only to be attacked. Men like Midas won't stop until they get what they want. And trust me: he will find you whether you believe it or not." "He's already found her." Sesshomaru spoke up, interrupting Trunks.
"What does that mean?" Kagome questioned.
"Look at her arms—on the bottom of the left one. Those are claw marks. I can smell them elsewhere as well." Sesshomaru noted, causing Trunks to lift Kori's arm. There were indeed claw marks on the bottom of her left arm. And they were relatively new.
"So, Midas found you then?" Moroha questioned, watching Kori.
"No…" "Come of it; we see the marks on your arms. And I can smell more all over you." Sesshomaru interrupted Kori.
"They're not from Midas!" Kori yelled, shocking everyone in the room. She didn't seem like the type to yell like that.
"Ok. Calm down. Please don't wake Kari with yelling. If they're not from Midas, who are they from? They're nasty-looking. And they look—not new, but still newer nonetheless." Trunks calmly spoke to Kori, watching her frustration as her ears lay flat on her head.
"Wolves." Kori softly answered, looking down.
"Wolves?" Akio, Moroha, Towa, and Setsuna questioned.
"As in the wolf race that previously killed previous Nekodians?" Trunks inquired, watching Kori.
"You know about them?" Kori questioned, stunned, backing up.
"That voice told us about them." Trunks replied.
"After all this time, why would they come back, I wonder." Kagome pondered.
"Come back? They never left. They may not be able to find us as easily, but they know we're still alive. With all the humans and other beings, our scents get mixed in, so it makes it harder for them to find us. The Wolves are why Nekodians—full Nekodians—were killed. And they leave nothing behind because they eat everything except the teeth and bones. But they can still use them." Kori softly explained.
"What about half Nekodians. How many of them have they killed?" Akio questioned, up in arms.
"None. The Wolves aren't allowed to kill half-breeds. Something about them not being pure and having a different taste. And while they have gone after the Katze-Os; they don't always get what they want because Katze-Os fight back." Kori answered, looking down.
"Why don't you or other Nekodians fight? What makes Katze-Os so different? Why do they fight, and you don't?" Sesshomaru questioned.
"It's not in our nature. As a Nekodian, I live my life peacefully and afraid of everything like most Nekodains. Nekodians like my family, who were smart, could fight. They were smart enough to make plans and remember to follow them. That's one of the reasons my family survived for as long as they did; they made plans and we followed. I'm almost surprised they didn't use me as bate because I'm the weakest link. But I guess I know why if I'm the only able to have babies. But umm… Katze-Os are warriors; they live to fight. They're smart and know how to do all that." Kori answered to the best of her ability.
"So, you don't know how to fight, defend yourself, or even cook. Why are you living out where these Wolves can get to you? Especially when you know they're still out there, waiting for the right moment." Sesshomaru harshly questioned.
"Where else am I supposed to go? Mom and Dad sold that home and moved away—to I don't know where. I don't know how to rent a house. I think that's what people say—rent a place to live. Not that I have the money to do that. I really only have enough to buy food now and then." Kori answered but quickly regretted saying that.
"Now and then? Just how often do you eat?" Trunks questioned, standing up straight, horrified.
"Right. I should go. Thank you." Kori spoke, heading to the door.
"Kori, wait!" Trunks exclaimed as Kori made it to the door.
He thought he'd have to chase after her. However, she stood still in the doorway, shaking…
