Tank POV
As I entered the 5th floor, I looked around and went to Manny for an update.
"Report"
"I went over the background of Detective Marcos Romano and came up with a general summary recap. I was able to look at general information like where he was from and he served in the military and lived in Fort Meade, Maryland afterwards before he headed his way to NYPD. His whole profile seems sheltered at best, smoke screens in all different directions at worst. From his Navy military service, no SpecOps indication at all. As we are mainly equipped for civilian searches and do not have the necessary clearance to look into military records, I cannot say what he did during his time in the service. If you need to search his military record, we would need someone with clearance to search.
Retired from the Navy 5 years ago, stayed there for roughly 4 years before heading to NYPD. This is where the smoke screen comes into play. Of all PD regulations and Chain of Command, anyone who enters the police station starts off in uniform for at minimum 3 years before they can even dream of making detective in any department, much less vice or homicide. Especially because NYPD has so much red tape and political power plays to look out for. Not including the fact that Gangs/ mobs/ low lives run rampant 24/7, the detectives in training would've had to shadow the actual detectives for at minimum 1 year and be on probation for another year before he or she is able to even take the test to MAKE detective."
Manny paused
"This Detective Marcos Romano that just transferred here, he was in uniform for only MONTHS before rising to Detective with Vice AND Homicide. Tank, this is NYPD for crying out loud, no way no how is there a logical reason. Sure, if his military record comes with a high reccomendation from one of the higher ups of the military speaking with the chief of a police department of a small TOWN PD, I can understand the "do without the formalities and give us your special experience" but this is the city that has crime 24/7, all the detectives has at least a DECADE of experience in the field, regardless of whether they served in the military or not before retiring and joining the PD."
Manny continued with his findings and questions "Now the question is, what is he doing being transferred to Trenton? Less crime and more specialized immersion? He's already got an in with the best place to GAIN experience. Is he now planning to scope and branch out to take students? On all accounts and purposes, he shouldn't be qualified and every green rookie would jump at a chance to shadow a detective to gain experience. But what is his purpose for it being this city? I can understand that he's worked for a sub agency of the military, maybe somewhere in intelligence? Hence the quick jump to detective. I don't know if he was an MP, but it could work. But he doesn't seem too stiff to be it either… that's a mystery to be explored. No kids or wives or anything like that, which makes sense for people who served. However, it's been nearly 5 years since he's been out of the service, even if he is connected to sub agencies. Maybe he's still involved, who knows?
Frankly, I'd suggest the military background check be done ASAP. Given the smoke screens alone. Add to the fact that Wifey's car was given a molotov cocktail as its ticket to car heaven and this detective's seemingly abrupt entrance. His history with NYPD was an obscure jump from being in uniform for such a short time and jumping straight to not only Vice, but Homicide? Nothing adds up.
That was my observation since the background check came out and I looked it over."
Thanks Ramos.
Manny nodded and left.
Based on what Manny said… Ranger was right again to always be cautious about those close to and likely to keep being around Little Girl. Well… this should be fun to let Ranger know… This will put him in a bad mood. Anything that happens toward Little Girl always makes him be on edge. I should also have the men be more alert when on calls that tell us when the trackers disappear from Little Girl. More specifically, who was on the scene, either detectives or the people involved/ surrounding the scene. Doesn't hurt to be extra cautious.
We also should check who the skips she had on hand were and go from there.
