Hey there guys! Back again with another chapter, hope you all have been enjoying the story so far. This chapter will kind of dive into Queen Clarion's story and will reveal how Evangeline's arrival will affect both Queen Clarion and Pixie Hollow as a whole. Also, kudos to anyone who noticed that Evangeline's talents are because of the use of the blue dust on her awakening, instead of just being naturally talented from the get go. Anyways, enjoy!
Also, this is just a reminder. The film series and the book series of the Disney fairies, while there are characters from the books in the films, are not interconnected. Some people have a hard time deciding whether or not the books or the film series are canon. When Secret of the Wings came out, it made things more difficult due to the plot holes of the Winter Fairy / Warm Fairy dilemma because of how we saw winter fairies in the first film, as well as the winter fairy minister. In fact, several of the books released were based off of each of the films produced.
This being the case, I'm writing this story as though the film series is the canon storyline. We're going to pretend that there were no winter fairies in the first film and that Secret of the Wings story was true. And we're also going to pretend that the books don't exist either, because the origins of Pixie Hollow are never gone into depth in the films while they sort of have an explanation in the book, but it is different from what we see in the movies. I hope this clears up any misunderstandings when you read this chapter.
Queen Clarion lead Evangeline, the Ministers, Lord Milori and Dewey, as well as the girls over a table big enough for them all to stand around.
"This book was written by the first Keeper of fairy knowledge. He was an animal-talent fairy and was told the story by a dove who witnessed the birth of the Pixie Dust tree."
(I'm referencing mother dove from the book but it's not actually mother dove)
Placing the book onto the table, she opened it and a pixie dust poured out of it, swirling in the air above the book and creating images. It created the image of the northern star and the second star to the right, which made every look in awe. The image then changed to show the blue harvest moon shining light on the open field where the Pixie Dust tree would stand.
"Long ago, before Pixie Hollow became our home, the light of the first blue harvest moon touched a tree sapling, and from it the Pixie Dust tree grew. And on that same night, from the laughter of a newborn baby carried on the petal of a mainland flower and bathed in the blue pixie dust, the very first fairy was born. Her wings reflected her status and she was blessed with many talents that served her well. And though she was alone, she knew her purpose. She used her talents to usher the seasons to the mainland in their due times. Thankfully the arrival of new fairies helped to lighten her load. Eventually, there were too many fairies with different roles to play, but no one to lead them. However, the choice was easy for them. The first of the fairies, whose talents touched all the seasons, would become the very first Queen of Pixie Hollow."
The image showed the blue harvest moon light touching a tree sapling, then it quickly grew in the well-known Pixie Dust tree, only it was still somewhat smaller than it is now, and began to make pixie dust, creating the dust waterfall. Then, a baby's laughter brought a petal from the mainland to the tree, which was bathed in blue pixie dust and transformed into a young fairy with long, straight hair and wings like Queen Clarion and Evangeline's. She was also dressed in the petal outfit of her birth. It showed her working fast and effectively for the different seasons, but she smiled when several fairies showed up and began to help her. Then the image showed her flying up to a platform, where all the fairies could easily see her. They all bowed to her, and she raised her head in both confidence and strength.
"Over time, she saw the Pixie Dust tree begin to lost its strength and the dust was flowing much less than before. Knowing that the blue pixie dust brought the tree to life, she created the moonstone to transmute the blue harvest moon's light into blue dust, which in turn led to the founding of the Autumn Revelry celebration. That was just one of many of her accomplishments during her reign."
The image showed the first fairy queen observing the pixie dust tree as its major waterfall of dust was getting slower and not as bountiful, looking rather worried about the tree's health. It then showed her at a table, with a clear rock that was shaped into a ball resting on a pillow and a cup of pixie dust, which she then showered over the rock. Then, when the light of the blue harvest moon began to shine, she moved one of its rays directly onto the pixie dust covered rock
"The Queen didn't know when it would happen, or even how, but she knew that one day another fairy would be born just like her. With the wings of a Queen and talents that connect the four seasons together, this fairy would become the next Queen of Pixie Hollow and bring about great change to all who live there. So she made a crown that could reveal who that fairy was, only to be bequeathed to her when she arrived and accepted her new role."
The image finally showed the Queen overlooking Pixie Hollow from above the tree with an expression of contemplation before quickly setting to work, making and enchanting the crown Evangeline had worn, then placed the crown on the same pedestal that Queen Clarion had taken it from.
Once the images were done displaying the story, the floating pixie dust shimmered away and the book was closed. Tinkerbell and the girls look awestruck by what they had just witness.
"Oh my word" Rosetta spoke up, breaking the silence
"That's incredible. Isn't there anything more?" Tinkerbell questioned, glancing at the book for more of the story
"Unfortunately no. Sometime before Queen Clarion was crowned, there was a big fire that destroyed most of the books we had from that time. Might be why we didn't know anything about your furry friend either, Fawn." Dewey said with a shake of the head
"Gruff…" Fawn said with a somber tone, to which Silvermist gave a comforting pat.
"Yes. This book was one of the few tomes that managed to spared from that fate. It's why we had them moved to the winter woods to keep them safe, and why Dewey was made the next Keeper." Queen Clarion nodded
"Your majesty, why were none of us informed about this story? Surely we could have helped in some way." The Minister of Autumn questioned
"Because it wasn't certain if there ever would be another fairy like her. It had been so many years since Pixie Hollow's birth, and the amount blue dust on hand was limited before Tinkerbell helped to change that, so we couldn't use it on every fairy that arrived in Pixie Hollow. We simply believed that one day fate would bring her to us. And it has." Queen Clarion replied before looking to Evangeline with a smile
"I…I don't know what to say." Evangeline stated, looking unsure while holding her hands to her chest
"It's alright, you needn't be worried. You've only just arrived here, and I'm not planning to pass on the role of Queen any time soon. For now, you will be a princess. I'll teach you all that there is to know and we can take time discovering your talents together." The Queen replied with a comforting hand to the young fairy's shoulder
"Reina, then what will happen to you?" Lord Milori questioned with worry
"I'll just return to being like any other fairy. And in my free time I can see you more often" Queen Clarion smiled to him
"Well…I think I'm starting to…warm up to the idea" Milori said with a chuckle, making Queen Clarion give a laugh in response
"Oh, come now my lord, that was just awful" Dewey said with a bemused groan
"What an historical day for all of Pixie Hollow! This is cause for celebration!" This Minister of Spring exclaimed
"That is an excellent idea." The Minister of Summer said with a enthusiasm
"Are we sure we have enough time? Spring will be departing for the mainland soon." The Minister of Autumn questioned his fellow minister
"Of course, everything is ahead of schedule, so there is nothing to worry about. It is the perfect time to welcome our princess to Pixie Hollow. Ah, but there is so much to be done! We must summon Fairy Mary to have the tinkers start getting things set up. And we mustn't forget to have plenty of food made. Oh, and there should also be performances! I usually prefer a garden-fairy flower blooming presentation, but if you would like something else then we can arrange it for you. What would you like, your highness?"
When the Minister of Spring directed his question towards Evangeline, she looked a little surprised and a bit uncomfortable being put on the spot like she was. She played with her fingers as she quickly thought up of something.
"Oh…that sounds lovely. I'm sure it will be wonderful." Evangeline gave an uneasy smile
"Dearie, you are going to just love it. I've been working with some hydrangeas and some marigolds, and they are just bursting with color." Rosetta joined into the conversation with gusto
"Are you allowed to call her that?" Fawn pointed out Rosetta's use of 'dearie'
"Oh, that's right! I forgot you're the princess now. Let me try again: Your-" Rosetta started to say, but was then cut off by Iridessa
"Your majesty, how about instead of flowers, we light and water fairies make you a rainbow parade for you to flutter along? It's a gorgeous display that I think you'll really like" Iridessa said, indicating to herself and Silvermist, whom nodded along with what she was saying while Rosetta looked at them with a bit of annoyance at being cut off.
"How about we make you a chariot that floats with pixie dust and is pulled by Fawn's butterflies? Ooh, or maybe I can make another one of my flying balloons and Vidia can use her winds to guide it through the rainbows while the everyone watches?" Tinkerbell eagerly joined in with her different ideas.
"We could even get some nightingales to sing during the performance!" Fawn added to the brainstorming.
"Woah, wait a minute, slow down!" Evangeline finally cut in, holding up her hands in a 'hold up' motion
This caused everyone to stop their brainstorm and become quiet, looking to Evangeline with expressions that were surprised by her sudden outburst.
"I…I really do appreciate all of this…but I'm not sure I'm ready for such a…grand entrance. I'm…I'm not sure I'm ready for any of this" Evangeline quietly admitted, holding a hand to her chest while giving a look of guilt
"What do you mean?" Tinkerbell questioned
Evangeline turned back towards the table that held the book, with the open page showing a drawing of the first Queen. She lightly touched the image before looking back to Queen Clarion.
"I can feel deep inside me that what you've told me is true…but it's all so overwhelming. I want to believe you, but for some reason I can't, at least not yet. I don't know, I just feel so…so…" Evangeline said, but to trail off as she tried to find the word
"Scared" Milori stated, and when Evangeline looked to him with surprise he further said with a smile "You're scared of your new role and the responsibilities that will come with it. Reina was the same way right before she became the next Queen. Back in Pixie Hollow's youth, she was the third queen to be crowned, and she was so worried she would make mistakes. She came to see me at the border so many times just to calm her nerves."
"Oh please Milori, don't bring that up, it's embarrassing to remember" Queen Clarion said with a nostalgic yet embarrassed chuckle
"My point is that its okay to be scared. No one here expects you to be perfect. You are young, and you have your whole life ahead of you to discover what kind of fairy, and what kind of queen, you will be. You just have to have faith in yourself." Milori said, holding a hand onto Evangeline's shoulder for comfort, which made her look back to him before he continued with "And until that time comes, I'm sure you'll have plenty of friends to be there for you."
"…Okay. Thank you, Lord of Winter." Evangeline replied, looking to Tinkerbell and the others before nodding back to him with a smile
"Please, call me Milori. You are now a princess, so you needn't address us so formally"
"Agreed. I may be the Minister of Spring, but to you I am simply Leif" The spring minister nodded
"And I am Hawthorne" The Minister of Autumn joined in
"Call me Leonora. A pleasure, your majesty" The Minister of Summer nodded towards Evangeline
"Thank you, everyone. I hope I can be a good princess to you all" Evangeline said with a quiet yet grateful tone as she gave a small smile and a nod to them
Queen Clarion flew over to the podium that held the tiara on its cushion and picked it up, flying right over to Evangeline and holding it out to her.
"This crown belong to you. Though you might not be ready to wear it, it will always be ready for you. For now, keep it with you."
Evangeline hesitated for a moment, then gently took the tiara from Queen Clarion's hands. She gazed at the delicate craftmanship of the crown before looking back to Queen Clarion, her eyes full of determination and gratitude
"Okay"
And that is it for this chapter, I hope you all enjoyed. I really hope I've sort of captured the essence of our favorite characters and their traits properly. Also, I gave the Ministers names because calling them Minister of Spring all the time will get in the way of divulging into the story. Anyways, I'll see you all in the next chapter.
