REALITY IS SWEETER THAN DREAMS
CHAPTER 1- A BITTER-SWEET DAY
Tomoyo sighed as she read the book accounts of their company. The profit is larger than the last year. I'm supposed to be
happy. But, it seems like something is missing. Her phone rang.
"Hai?"
"Ma'am, Mr. and Mrs. Li are looking for you."
She smilled.
"Okay, let them in."
A few minutes later, a knock was heard on her door. Syaoran and Sakura entered Tomoyo's office. Tomoyo is so pleased to see them both.
"Long time no see, Syaoran-kun, Sakura-chan. Please take a seat"
They sat on the two chairs in front of Tomoyo's table. Tomoyo noticed that Sakura is about 8 months pregnant. Syaoran noticed Tomoyo staring at Sakura's preggy belly.
"Sakura-chan here is about to give birth next month. We want you to be the godmother of our first child."
"Yes, Tomoyo-chan. It would be great pleasure for both of us if you will agree."
"Of course, I will agree. How can I refuse the two of you?"
Sakura pressed Tomoyo's hands, showing her utmost gratitude.
"So, Tomoyo-chan, how's the life of the multi-millionaire CEO?"
"It's fun demo…"
"But what?"
"Nothing. It's fun, really. I love this job."
Syaoran noticed that Tomoyo's face suddenly became melancholic but he just kept quiet about it. Sakura is so happy to talk to her bestfriend.
"So, how's your love life? Have you found your special someone?"
Tomoyo suddenly felt that her heart constricted but she did her best to hide it She gave her best friend a plastered grin.
"Well, not yet. I'm kinda busy of working and I found my job to be amusing. But I guess, I'll find him pretty soon. There's time for everything."
Syaoran and Sakura nodded in agreement. Then, they both stood up and bade her goodbye.
"We must be going now. We hope that we didn't disturb."
"Not at all. Thank you for visiting."
"That's nothing. Bye, Tomoyo-chan."
" Bye, Sakura-chan, Syaoran-kun."
They went out of her office. Making sure that nobody will see her or no one will enter her office, she let her suppressed tears fall. She feels envy towards her best friend. She is already married to her beloved Syaoran and next month, they will have their baby. She can't help but cry. Is something wrong with her. She's the ice princess, beautiful, intelligent, kind. But, why didn't she have the love of her life? Why is destiny so cruel?"
She got her wallet from her indigo bag and opened it. She brought out a picture. She smiled as tears continued flowing. She caressed the photo lovingly. "Eriol-kun, why did you desert me?" She whispered sadly. Then, her phone rang again. She put down the wallet and tried her best not to sound that she just cried.
"Hai?"
"Tomoyo-sama, your meeting is about to start"
"Arigatou for the reminder."
She brought down the phone. She fixed her make-up to remove signs that she cried a while ago. She put the photo and the wallet back to her bag and left her office. She locked the door and headed for the meeting.
