"Thank you for the lunch All Might." Ayaka had finished lunch with Izuku and All Might, it was a matter of time until they could get back for the next class in the afternoon.
"No worries, just remember Sunday. It's still days away but don't let your mind get held up by it. I know you have a tendency to handle problems but just this once, enjoy your life at UA."
"I will." She then turns to Izuku. "Let's head back Midoriya, I believe Uraraka and Iida have waited long enough for us."
The day was finishing up and Ayaka had planned on doing another session of training with her Delusion. On the advice of All Might to not pursue the Fatui without help - she had nothing on her mind other than improving her skills.
She had done well to control her Delusion. Despite only having it for a day, she could use it to an above level from a beginner.
Kazuha was an acquaintance of hers that wandered the world after being sent into hiding by the old decree that restricts Vision use in Inazuma. She had known him since the days of both of their clans falling until the present day.
Even more, was that the Kaedehara family was a subordinate branch of the Kamisato clan.
The Kamisato and Kaedehara clans are rooted deep in the history of the commissions and Inazuma as a whole. The Kaedharas were a family of legendary blacksmiths while the Kamisato clan had been dealing with governmental affairs.
After an upheaval that tarnished both clans' prestige and honor, both previous heads of the clans worked hard to undo the damages. Tragically, only the Kamisato clan was able to return to their noble image. As for the Kaedehara family, Kazuha lay alone in the ruins of what once was his lineage.
Though for every trouble he had parried, he became more talented with his passed-down art. Ayaka had seen him perform these well into their times of being acquainted with one another.
It was only fitting for Ayaka to hold inspiration from these techniques, although not perfect - there was always something for Ayaka to memorize and perform.
"Kamisato?"
Her mind snapped back to reality, her reminiscing of her old life was whisked away when the teacher's voice called out to her. Izuku looked on with worry as the rest of the class stared as well.
"Kamisato, I've heard from the teachers that this behavior of yours had been observed for the first week of class. Is there anything we should be worried about?"
She stood up and bowed before looking at the board. "My apologies I didn't intend for my carelessness to affect the flow of the class. What's the question again, sir?"
Ectoplasm had already heard of her woes during the battle but decided to let her answer the question anyways. "I'll repeat, which one of these equations should we use to solve this?"
"It's A." She almost instantly answered.
"Well, it's good to see even if your attention in class is waning, you've been doing reading back at home." The clock behind the class ticks to 3. "That's all for today, remember even if you do a review at home, participation in class is always needed. Goodbye."
"Stand up, Attention, Bow, Sit down," Ayaka announced to the class as the period after lunch ended. Mathematics wasn't that hard for Ayaka since wherever she comes back home she ensures to read up in advance.
It's not that she's pressured for better grades, she's just not used to having so much time for herself that she often fills it in with learning - especially when it came to the history of the world and the culture that filled it.
"Kamisato, are you really alright? Is it the Fatui again?" Izuku whispered to Ayaka.
She kept her smile to reassure him nothing was wrong. "No, it's nothing like that. I'm just remembering something is all."
Izuku doubted it since Ayaka would never show something worrying her. "Is it about your ermm…" he closes in further making sure no one would hear him which was odd to anyone looking at him. "Is it about your old life?"
"Oi! Deku, shut your damn mouth," Katuski growled from the front. The nearby seatmates of his lean back from the sudden aggressiveness.
"I-I'm sorry!" Izuku stutters out as she sighs and continues to talk to Ayaka. "Kacchan must be in a bad mood today."
"I don't think it's that, Midoriya. Such a sensitive topic will get noticed if you act more suspiciously than if you just asked normally. Whispering so closely over your chair will just attract attention." She replied in a hushed tone.
"Oh…" he finally realized. "I'll do better next time... I'll just ask later when class is done." He tries facing forward.
"Don't worry I'll answer, it does in fact have to do with it. I'm just remembering someone from back then. I couldn't give you all an in-depth explanation last time but it's someone that I have known for so long. I've been emulating his techniques as training."
"Ah! So that's why you were always muttering a name. I didn't know you could copy someone else's moves." His hand moves to his chin, a precursor to his muttering. "That's so much potential with your Delusion-"
Katsuki turned around and whacked Izuku in the head. "Shut up! Idiot!"
"Bakugo seems angrier than ever." Hanta mentions to the classmates near him. They all nodded, Katsuki was not always the calmest person but something about those recent insults was serious.
"Perhaps now isn't a good time to discuss. There's always our training together at Gym Gamma. All Might gave us ample time to prepare there, especially your control over your Quirk."
Izuku rubbed the back of his head, still stinging after Katsuki's not-so-gentle reminder to refrain from revealing anything sensitive. "I look forward to it."
"Heroics is next, I'll head on over to the changing rooms with Uraraka." Ayaka gets up from her seat and heads to exit the room. She stops short when she was about to open the door when she heard hundreds of footsteps reaching the exit.
The door slams open as her hand reaches the handle, she was greeted by dozens of students standing and packed into one another blocking the doorway.
"What's happening?" Ochaco yelped out. The masses of students either observed or held up their phones.
Ayaka had put two and two together on the purpose, it was a smart move for the other classes. "Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't all these from the other courses? I assume they're here for the Sports Festival."
"They're here to look at us like snakes since we all survived a major Villain attack so they came to inspect their competition."
Katsuki walked from behind and had confidence in his stride while approaching the horde of students. "Then again, there's no point in that. Move roadblocks, you're in the way."
Tenya rushes to his back and swings his arms frantically. "Bakugo! That is not a great way to address fellow classmates!"
Ayaka blocks Katsuki from further aggravating the students. "Bakugo, we're all heroes at the end of the day. I'll handle it, so please tone the arrogance down."
Katsuki looks at the crowd before clicking his tongue and turning his back to Ayaka. "Do whatever you want, just get these extras out of here. We're going to be late for Heroics."
"I came here to see the rumored Class-1A but even my expectations were lowered. Is everyone in Heroics this self-centered?" A voice announced from the crowd.
A fairly tall man with indigo hair and noticeable bags under his eyes squeezes himself to the front. Unphased by the narrowed eyes of Katsuki who returned to his primal state.
Katsuki immediately turned to see and neglected Ayaka's advice as he raises his head high and stares at the person who spoke. "Shove it extra." The two meet glares as the class silence down from the confrontation.
"Hmph. Seeing things like this makes me wonder how someone like you came to be a Hero. There are a lot of us that failed to get into the Hero course because of the exam... but the school gave us a chance. Depending on the results, we may be able to transfer to the same class you all are in. We can take your place as the Hero we all wanted to be, so don't let your ego climb high - because it'll be what makes the fall so much harder. I'm not here to inspect the enemy, I'm here to declare war - even if you're all Heroes, I'll show you what I can do."
'They're both so aggressive!' Everyone screamed in their minds.
Unexpectedly, they saw their class president go past Katsuki who was still staring daggers at the person bold enough to say that to the entire class. "I'm sure you will, everyone here is welcome to try," she said.
'Why is she also aggressive?!' Everyone screamed even more in their minds.
It wasn't unusual to make everyone bring out their best. Ayaka especially, a life of comfort at the top is a road to decadence. It was what she was taught. "If there is anyone truly able to challenge and take our place, I encourage you to do so."
"What makes you say that so confidently? I don't know if this is genuine appreciation or another shot at us who missed our chance to become a Hero."
Ayaka smiled, before offering a handshake. "What's your name?"
It caught everyone off guard. "My name? Hitoshi Shinso, the person who's going to become a Hero." he accepted the handshake and at this point the class was stunned.
"Well, Shinso. The Sports Festival is two weeks away, if you're prepared to confront the entire class then that must mean your will is strong. But will alone is not going to win you the spot you wish - we're going to show the world what we can do, if you're prepared to see us at our best, then I urge you all to do the same."
Hitoshi had to remember who Ayaka was from the news. "You, you're the one responsible for apprehending Villains. So confident, I'll see for myself if you're worth that fame you keep."
"Hey!"
Another person from the crowd screams out, making everyone turn to who decided to interrupt the serious conversation.
"It's the thigh lady from the exam!"
Everyone from the general education class groaned and palmed their faces. Ayaka realizes who it was, the midget among the sea of students had balls sticking out as his hair as he pointed in Ayaka's general direction.
'Who the heck is this?!' Everyone was once again caught off guard.
"Fuck this. Move out of the way. I had enough of these people talking to us." Katuski made his way outside, inching past the students who coalesced.
"Hey, Bakugo! You can't just go on to antagonize them after Kamisato had defused it! What are we going to do if the rest of the school hates us?!"
"Hate? It doesn't matter if they hate us as long as we are on top. It just means we proved how better we are." he uttered one last comment at the crowd before leaving.
"...So simple yet so manly." tears started flowing from Eijiro's eyes. The others seemed disturbed by the event but some agreed with his stance.
Hanta Sero contemplates as he pinches the edge of his chin. "That's true," he utters.
"He does have a point." Rikido does the same.
Fumikage nodded. "A fair assessment."
"I can't believe I'm hearing you all agree with him! He basically messed up the situation even more! Even Kamisato had to throw a few words! We are so doomed at the festival!" Denki called out to them.
"Although what Bakugo did was indeed antagonizing, I doubt we're going to get kicked off from the Hero course," Ayaka reassured them.
"What makes you so sure?"
"There's a blur within the events of today from tomorrow. Uncertainty still threatens us, but what we can affect now is the result of next time. We just have to work harder than before." Ayaka flashed a smile. "Okay?"
It didn't calm Denki down. "...That doesn't help us at all! Everyone's going to target us during the Sports Festival. We're so screwed!"
After a period of Heroics class, the day ended with Ayaka packing up her notes and heading for the exit. She usually ends the day with Izuku, Ochaco and Uraraka so she needed to be early in heading out.
"Kamisato." Aizawa motioned for her to come. Ayaka obliged and left her things alone to talk.
"Yes, sir Aizawa?"
"I have to tell you this since I'm your class homeroom teacher. Prepare a short student pledge for the event, it can be whatever you want but if you need to ask someone - don't ask me since I'm too tired for that, ask Midnight or your old man instead."
Ayaka nodded, it was a simple task - she would be able to make one that was simple. "Is that all?"
"No, there's one more thing. Come, we can't talk here - I heard something quite foolish from All Might." his voice deepened from the last sentence. "Care to tell me what it is or do I have to spell it out for you?"
Her body shivered, despite not being affected by the cold. The gaze of someone mummified didn't seem to dim Shota's everlasting intimidation. "Follow me."
Ayaka followed to an isolated room, used seldom as a break room - similar to the ones All Might and Izuku used for lunch a while ago.
"Sit down." Not wasting any time, Aizawa ordered her to the seat as he took his own on the opposite side. "Onto my concerns, why is that man letting you go on doing stupid things?"
"But sir-"
"No, give me one good reason why I shouldn't throw you out of this institution after deciding this. Especially when All Might didn't seem to care that you are going to put yourself in danger again."
"I apologize, sir Aizawa, there are things that I must do, for the sake of my own mind. I can't live on knowing I can't do anything but watch."
Aizawa sighed and shook his head. "You don't understand, you're just a kid that's still going through a phase. Let the adults handle it, you should be focusing on the Sports Festival than a criminal organization that could wreck an entire police squadron."
"...How did you know of this?"
"All Might has been talking about how proud he was of you opening up to others about your problems. When I asked what's been happening, he told me by accident that you plan on going off on your ridiculous venture by going to Yokohama with others in this class."
He then stood up and loomed over Ayaka. "And I distinctly remember a cold hard fact that even I should expel you for, you went on your own, didn't you? Before the USJ. That's why All Might's been so happy for you because you've done this back then when we didn't realize you have that thing." he pointed to the Delusion's hiding place.
Ayaka knew what she was doing was horrible, it's the reason why she never wanted the others to join her. Even when she was accepting of All Might's suggestion, she had reservations about how much of the work she needed to bear.
Death was a possible outcome, fighting the Fatui was going to result in casualties. It's why Ayaka wanted to be alone in her endeavor, she can't bear to see anyone she knows suffer, so if the search for the Fatui did end up disastrous - she would die alone.
It was better for her to see her friends alive than let herself live and see their demise, that's how Ayaka views it. There's also her reasoning that she's responsible for all this, she wants to find out everything.
Even if it costs her life, she wants to know how she came to Japan and Earth. On how the Fatui were able to do so before her and more about the reasons for her sudden transportation to another world.
"I-I'm sorry. I can't let it go, expel me if you must but don't include the others. I will accept any form of punishment even if you arrest me for misusing my Quirk. If I'm not allowed, then I'll do so alone. I'm sorry..." her eyes glisten from the slight water seeping through. "I need to do this."
Aizawa stared through the bandages covering his face. It itched but it wasn't on his mind. Ayaka's desperate tone but stern gaze made him remember something sour.
"You remind me of someone... a person dying for their ideals that back then I couldn't understand. He wasn't as serious as you but when it came to his goal of saving someone he didn't even mind his own mortality. You're willing to do the same, I can see it. You don't give importance to your life if it means not involving others in your issues."
Shota scratched his arms at the memory, and almost coughed to cover his sudden change in tone. Normally, Aizawa was one to keep a low profile, such was the nature of his work but something about his memories of his long-gone childhood friend made him crack his usual facade,
"Problem children these days... if you're that foolhardy in this then at least refrain from looking for a fight. The last thing I want is to visit the grave of a student I watched over - much less one that was a daughter to my friend and co-worker."
"I-Thank you! Really, you don't know how much this matters to me." she stood up to bow before her teacher.
"On one condition." Aizawa held up a single finger. "You will start therapy every Wednesday starting next week. Hound Dog will be available at his office for you to talk to. It's quite necessary for you to have a grip on your mental state. It's my decision so no denying it,"
Aizawa had a bitter taste, he knows he might regret this decision but something in his mind wants to allow Ayaka's travel to Yokohama. "You have allies with you, you care for everyone but let them help you too... I can't believe I'm doing this."
"I'll do my best, sir Aizawa."
"Just don't neglect your duties and let this slow down your progress in the Sports Festival." he grabbed ahold of the door, preparing to exit before he remembered something important. "Ah, I forgot something."
"What is it?"
"In the Sports Festival, usually there is no equipment allowed to make it fair. In this case, your Delusion would be included in that list - along with your sword. Though, the teachers have come to a consensus - it would do good for you to hang onto the Delusion. Its side effects are catastrophic and we are trying to have the excuse of you having a sub-Quirk like Todoroki's, if we assume the Fatui have already confirmed the existence of your Delusion then it doesn't matter if you can suddenly use wind. This doesn't mean you can go wild again, I'd rather not explain to the authorities that you can go crazy from that thing."
"What of my sword?"
"It's obviously not allowed but I recall from footage of the slime Villain incident and videos of your match with Bakugo in the battle trials that you could make one out of ice. I doubt you're going to have trouble."
Aizawa left without another word, leaving Ayaka to contemplate the next weekend. It was a dangerous thing maybe foolish as Aizawa had mentioned. She had to confirm if everyone was really alright with it, despite the threat.
Ayaka opened her phone and texted the group chat that Midoriya had set up for those who knew of Ayaka's real origins from being in Teyvat.
[Kamisato: Greetings, is everyone truly on board with our journey to Yokohama? I just have to make sure you all really want to join even with the risks.]
[Several people are typing...]
[Deku: It's nothing to be worried about. I'm always going to help.]
[Kirishima: Yeah what Midoriya said! What got you so worried?]
[King Explosion Murder: Frosty, you've been asking that same question for the past day. I swear I'll have to mute this damn thing if you keep asking us.]
[Todoroki: ]
[King Explosion Murder: ...why is someone like you suddenly using emojis?]
[Todoroki: :mancrossarms: :pineapple: :train:]
[King Explosion Murder: What the fuck does that mean?]
[Todoroki: -deleted message-]
[Todoroki: :gorilla:]
[King Explosion Murder: Icy-hot! What the hell was that last message and what is a gorilla supposed to represent?!]
[Todoroki: :cactus:]
Ayaka chuckled, instantaneous messaging was a blessing from technology. Even Ayaka had a moment of obsession when she discovered what a phone can do. Now, she was giggling at the antics.
It wasn't much since only a week ago but Katsuki had changed. Being humbled over and over by Ayaka and constantly criticized for his attitude made him a bit more bearable as a person.
Shoto on the other hand opened up for a slight difference since they were all involved in the USJ. Still, he was yet to fully include anyone else. It would take more time but Ayaka was happy everything was going fine.
'It's only 3 more days... I hope I can find something soon in Yokohama. Now that everyone is helping, it should be easier.'
