He was sleeping… again. He clinged to his humanity even though he was slowly loosing it, every night she witnessed a tiny piece go away, but the Michael she knew was still there. Just adapting to his changing perspective. His calm breathing and little movement proved her assumptions of that. She had tried numerous times to get him to sleep during the day, but it never happened.
Flashback
" Michael you don't need sleep"
He turned slightly from the bed as he was attempting to get into it.
" Yes I do selene. I'll see you in a couple hours"
She rolled her eyes with a loud sigh. He paid no attention to it. He crawled into the bed and closed his eyes. She remained silently watching over him. She smirked because of his inssesive human nature.
end flashback
" No-no stop-no Sonja"
Selene turned around harshly seeing his movements and voiced complaint. His body was covered in a glimmering layer of light sweat.
" The memories"
She shook her head, quietly saddened by his never-ending torment by her and Lucian's memories. Luckily, this time it wasn't her memory of her dying nieces like the night before. It had been the first time he had seen that memory and it had left him quite shaken.
" No-no stop please no Sonja"
She had, had enough. She crept over to the bed. Michael's hands were gripping the bed sheets into a crumpled mess. His head turning from side to side. His wild thrashing continued even as Selene approached. She sighed once more before kneeling at the side of the bed. She slowly tried to shake him awake.
" Michael, wake up. Its just a memory"
He continued to thrash around in her grasp.
" Sonja…no…no…NO!"
He bolted forward sitting upwards covered in sweat. Breathing harshly.
" Michael"
He turned hastily towards the familiar voice.
"Se-selene"
"I'm right here Michael it was only a memory"
His breathing had calmed down a bit.
" Go back to sleep"
He stayed sitting upwards merely starring at the porcelyn-skinned goddess. Selene grew tired of his starring.
" Michael"
He jumped out of his dream like state and looked into her eyes.
" I-I'm sorry I got, ummm distracted."
Selene just nodded her head in acceptance. He continued to look to as if asking if it was ok for him to be remembering all of these terrible things.
" Don't worry Michael the memories will fade as soon as you learn to control them."
He sighed; it was just another thing that he would have to get used to in the underworld.
" Move over"
He looked up to her confused. She got impatient and pushed him over in the bed.
" I said move over…come on"
He did as he was told and scooted across the bed until there was enough room for her to sit.
"Selene what are you doing?"
She ignored his question and pushed him into a lying down position before lying down next to him.
" Go to sleep Michael"
He didn't understand quite what was going on and tried to get up. She quickly put her arm in front of his chest preventing such action.
" But selene…"
She sat up forcing her lightweight frame onto her elbow.
" You wanted to sleep so sleep. I'm only doing this once you hear. I'll lay here that way if you have another memory I can wake you up before it gets worse. Ok."
He merely nodded in acceptance. He laid down on the soft bed closing his eyes lightly. He could hear her small frame going up and down as she breathed. He could smell her perfume of her body. He laid content in all of the confusion.
" Goodnight selene"
He closed his eyes after smiling. She looked over to him, his smile crossed across his face. She sighed and waited until his breathing became normal. He was asleep. Again.
" Goodnight Michael."
