Disclaimer: I don't own this series. Wish I did though. Then I'd have monies.
A/N: This is just a short fluffy bit. Enjoi.
I watched with stoic eyes as the sun disappeared behind the sea swept horizon. The cool breeze of a summer's eve swept through her inky hair, a smell of cinnamon and earth passing through my nostrils. We sat together on a grassy knoll, just the two of us beneath the dying sun's final light.
I remember the day's events clearly. We had been fighting for the jewel shards again risking our lives for some precious bit of stone. I kept my eye on her, as I always have. And she was dazzling in her prowess, unafraid to stand and fight against creatures many times her petite frame. And because of her skill, we were successful in obtaining yet another shining piece of that accursed jewel.
My eyes shifted uneasily. The silence between us was not awkward, merely menacing. The inability to drum up conversation with her agitated me to no end. So I diverted my attention to the evening sky, a mix of yellows and oranges, pinks and blues, purples and indigos. Clouds lazily floated through the splash of colours as easily as a boat through a still stream. The beauty of it all reminded me of her. My thoughts could not escape her; she haunted me to no end. I suppose you could say I was consumed by her. But she was worth it. The way her hair cascaded down her back when she let it down, that small bit of pink liner underneath her eyes that drove me wild, and her grace and charm and wit and…
There I went again. Rambling. I sounded like a love sick child. All because I was too naive to tell her my true feelings for her. I stole a quick glance at her, and I had just realized her closeness. I studied the gentle lines of her face, the bright and cheerfulness of her eyes, her curves. How could so much beauty fit into such a girl? Our eyes met, and a smile, uncontrollable , etched its way across my face, and a smile onto hers as well. And then I felt all my pleasure senses rejoicing as she leaned her head against my shoulder. I closed my eyes; a grin could not help but spread its way from ear to ear. My arm found it's way around her shoulder and she leaned into my shoulder more. Oh my, if I could have paused that moment for just a moment, I would have danced such a furious jig!
We both watched as the sun dipped out of sight beneath the tree lines and mountain tops, spreading its last glorious rays out as if in struggle to cling onto the sky as it sunk. It was, along with having such a beautiful woman leaning against you, the most perfect way to end a day I could imagine. And for the first time, in a long time of silent acknowledgement, we spoke.
"That was breathtaking..." she said to me, her eyes finding mine.
"Quite…" I said, words hanging on my tongue waiting to be free: but not as breath taking as you…
We both nodded and sat there again in our silent reverie. I watched as she let here eyelids slowly fall down her eyes, and she breathed deep. My arm, still around her shoulder, began to slip and…
I rubbed my cheek tenderly. A red welt of a handprint marred my face, and the girl had stood and began to walk back to the village. I sighed, and stood as well. But I smiled as I watched her go, knowing that I would forever be her Miroku.
And she would be my Sango.
A/N: A review, even if it was bad, would be nice. It's always nice to see that at least someone read your work. Even if it was utterly horrible. But this was my first InuYasha ship. I hope you enjoied it.
