X is for X-Ray

Dean felt his soul leave his body as he looked at the picture before it. He was currently looking at an X-ray of Bobby's left arm. Both bones were clearly broken.

"Papa is gonna kill me," Dean said.

He was currently sitting with Bobby in a hospital room alone. The doctor had just shown him the result of the x-ray and left to get his supplies to cast his arm.

"Papa?" Bobby asked excitedly. He looked around the room and frowned when he didn't find him.

"No bud, papa's not here yet," Dean replied, looking down at his four-year-old son. He sighed, "but he's gonna be mad when he finds out what happened."

"What happen?" Bobby asked, looking up at him.

The door opened. The short blonde nurse from earlier popped her head in. She smiled at Dean.

"There's a man out here who says he's the other father," she started.

"Cas?" Dean asked, "yeah, he's my partner. Yay, high?" Dean asked, holding up a hand to signify short, "blue eyes? Trenchcoat?"

"That is probably the most accurate description," she laughed, "been together a while?"

"You could say that," Dean replied with a smile of his own.

A few seconds later, Castiel entered the room. He made a beeline for Bobby who cheered at seeing his papa. He winced as his arm moved.

"Hold on," Dean said, cutting Castiel off.

"Dean. What happened? I got your message," Castiel said. He then caught sight of the x-ray picture on the computer. "Is that your arm?" he asked.

"It's about to be my arm," Dean muttered. He sat down next to Bobby trying to get him to calm down again.

"Dean," Castiel said warningly.

"Look, it was an accident," Dean said, "we were working on the treehouse-" he started.

"He fell out of the thing, didn't he? I told you not to bring him up there," Castiel started.

"No, he didn't fall out of the tree," Dean said, frowning, "I'm not that bad of a parent?"

"Then how did he break his arm, Dean?" Castiel asked.

"Well, we were working on the treehouse when Sam showed up with Danni Mae," Dean said, "of course, Bobby wanted to play so we went down and he started playing with Sam while I entertained Danni, man I miss the days when he was that little."

"Get to the point, Dean, or that really will be your arm," Castiel threatened.

"Anyways Sam was doing that thing you hate, where he spins Bobby," Dean said, "I wasn't paying attention, and we collided, and Bobby fell."

The door opened, and Sam walked in, looking down at his phone. "Dean I just got off the phone with mom. She hasn't seen Cas-oh you're here," he said.

"Dude, run," Dean said.

"I'm not the only one to blame, Dean ran into me," Sam said defensively.

"Is Danni ok?" Castiel asked.

"She's fine, she was in her swing safe and sound 'cause I'm a responsible uncle," Dean said.

"It was an accident," Sam said.

"Enough," Castiel cut them off, "why even bring him here? I could have just-"

"We agreed, no mojo on the baby," Dean cut him off. "He is going to have a normal childhood. Bumps and bruises and broken arms happen."

"Right," Castiel replied, glancing over at Bobby, who was now laying on the bed, his eyes drooping sleepily. "Just this once."

"Just this once turns into another and another," Dean replied, walking up to the angel. "Trust me, he is fine the doctor is gonna put on a cast and it will heal. He deserves to have a normal childhood, right?"

"Yes, you're right," Castiel said, "I just hate seeing him hurt is all."

"Me too, but this is a part of parenthood," Dean sighed, "we learn from our mistakes, and we tell Sam if he ever does it again, we won't let him babysit."

"Hey," Sam said.

"You broke my kids arm," Dean said turning to his brother.

"Accidentally," Sam replied.

"Ok, we can argue later. Let's focus on Bobby," Castiel said.

A few hours later, Dean carried Bobby up to his bed. He carefully tucked him in, being mindful of the cast. He turned and saw Castiel watching him. He smiled, walking up to him.

"When I got that message, my mind went worst-case scenario," Castiel said.

"Yeah, I was a bit panicked, but he's ok," Dean said, turning back to face Bobby. He was sleeping peacefully. "Man, I wouldn't mind having another."

"I'm sure we could arrange something. Sam showed us how irresponsible he was today," Castiel joked.

"You gotta get past Fi first," Dean replied.

"Right, never mind," Castiel said, "if the opportunity presents itself, maybe."

"Hopefully, a girl. I want a little princess," Dean replied.
