Author's Note:
After reading so many gamer fanfics I was inspired to try my hand at one.
This is my very first fanfic so constructive criticism would be appreciated.
Disclaimer: I own nothing except the OCs.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
…Well, I'm dead. Not entirely sure how that happened.
Hmm, it's probably best I don't know. No point in dwelling on it.
I don't see the golden gates so this isn't Heaven.
I also don't seem to be cursed to eternal damnation in Hell.
Maybe this is Purgatory. I have no idea I'm not Catholic.
…..
…..
…..
…So, do I just float here forever? Kind of a boring afterlife to be honest.
Welcome, Gamer! I am SYSTEM (Hooray…).
What the heck?
You have been chosen out of all souls to be reincarnated with special powers.
Okaaay… What's with the words floating in front of me?
Someone has noticed this situation you're in and took pity on you. Be grateful, if they didn't your soul would have been stuck here for eternity.
What do you mean took pity on me?
This place you're currently in is known as the Dimensional Gap, a place between worlds. It's weird how you got here.
Fortunately for you, a certain deity noticed, and while they cannot get you out and move you on to your proper afterlife, they can reincarnate you in another universe.
Okay. What does have to do with you referring to me as "Gamer"?
As compensation for this "glitch", you will be given what is known as the Gamer System. A handy thing that lets you treat your next life as an RPG video game.
Huh, that's… pretty awesome actually. Good thing I played a lot of those.
Yay… Good for you.
Alright, what the hell's up with your attitude?
Nothing, nothing…
Uh-huh…. Just so you know you're not winning any bonus points from me.
Meh, don't really care about that.
*RUMBLE*
Uhhh….SYSTEM, what was that….?
Ignore that. Let's go to [Perks]
Perks Acquired
[Gamer's Mind]
-Allows the user to have a peaceful state of mind in any situation.
-User is immune to psychological status effects.
[Gamer's Body]
The user is granted the body of a video gamer character.
-User no longer needs to eat, drink or sleep.
-User's Hp and Mp are restored when sleeping.
Wow. That's all I have to say. Wow. [Gamer's Mind] sounds a lot like Ainz's skill that calms him down when his emotions get too high. And [Gamer's Body] gets rid of the need for daily food.
Although I might not stop eating because of it. I always did enjoy cooking. I don't think the fact I don't have to eat will stop it.
Yes, the overpowered perks all gamers love. They should get rid of these. Make things more interesting.
I am seriously overwhelmed by your enthusiasm.
Quiet you. Next part, importing your highest level skill from your past life.
Skill Acquired from your previous life.
[Cooking] Level: 89 [0%]
The ability to mix ingredients to make a successful dish.
I guess I'm fine with that. My cooking is my proudest achievement.
This next part is optional and is my favorite part. You can choose to spin the Gacha Wheel up to 3 times, and you will be given a random Perk or Flaw.
Why is this your favorite?
I get to see the looks of despairs on a LOT gamer's faces when they get the terrible flaws. It makes all warm and tingly inside,
…That's a bit creepy, SYSTEM.
Everyone has their little quirks. Take Kotomine for example.
Kotomine was bat shit crazy!
Eh, little details.
I'm pretty sure I'm staring at the screen with an 'are you kidding me' expression
"You have problems". As the word left my mouth, the space I'm in shakes again.
*RUMBLE*
What the hell is that?
Are you going to spin or what?
Well, I always did have good luck with the Gacha Gods, sooooo let 'er rip SYSTEM!
I doubt that. Everyone falls victim to them, no exceptions.
[Spinning Gacha Wheel…]
Perk Acquired
[Genius]
-Skill Experience gained is doubled.
Nice! Let's go again!
It won't last.
[Spinning Gacha Wheel…]
Perk Acquired
[Ageless]
- You will be immune to the passage of time and the effects of old age.
- Your body does not age and you are immune to extraordinary effects that cause aging.
Hm, Not bad depending on how you look at it.
…There's still one more chance for a flaw. That is if you're daring enough to take it?
HAH! Of course I am. Why would I back down now?
[Spinning Gacha Wheel…]
Perk Acquired
[Revered by the Goddess of Luck]
The Goddess of Luck REALLY loves you, to the point where bad luck never seems to follow you wherever you go. (Unlike a certain drunk bird)
-Increased loot drops
-Increased rarity of drops
-85% success at winning games of chance.
…..
Hehe. No exceptions, huh?
Told ya. The Gacha Gods love me.
-5 reputation with SYSTEM [-5/100] for your bullshit luck.
Tch, spoilsport. You can dish it, but can't take it.
Whatever. It's time to pick your starting world.
[Naruto]
[Marvel]
[Game of Thrones]
[One Punch Man]
[Mass Effect]
[RWBY]
[Persona 5]
Hmm…
Game of Thornes is immediately out since I know next to nothing about the story. I can also take out Naruto. While the anime is cool, the world itself is pretty fucked up. A society where killing and child soldiers are completely normal? Yeah, absolutely not. I'll also say no to One Punch Man. That world just doesn't interest me. While being a Phantom Thief sounds like a lot of fun, the fact it takes place over the course of a year then goes back to boring, so that's off. Mass Effect, while it seems fun to explore the galaxy, is a no-go because the impending threat of extinction is a downer for me. Besides, I was never really into sci-fi anyway. So that just leaves RWBY or Marvel.
…This a hard choice. I really enjoy both worlds. Marvel is very similar to my past life, and RWBY, I always liked the main cast, so being able to meet them, and possibly become friends with them feels too good to pass up.
…..
…..
…..
~ Three Hours Later ~
Oh for the LOVE of God, JUST PICK SOMETHING ALREADY!
WE STILL HAVE A LOT MORE TO GO!
-5 reputation with SYSTEM [-10/100] for taking too long.
Well, EXCUSE me. This is REALLY hard. Do I go with the familiarity of the Marvel World, or do I pick the world with my most liked characters? It's complicated.
Look, I did say this would be your STARTER world. When you're finished with that one you can move on to other worlds in the multiverse. You won't be stuck in just one.
Well, when you put it that way the choice is easy. I choose Persona 5.
What? What happened to your other two choices?
The power of Personas is too good to pass up. It'll be interesting when I take that power to the Marvel or RWBY world.
FINALLY. Now it's time for your backstory.
How does that work?
It depends on which world you pick. If you chose Naruto we'd have to go through this whole process of which village you pick, along with which clan, and then additional perks. It's a whole process.
Lucky for me you chose Persona so we get to put things to chance and roll your backstory.
Rolling a backstory? At least it'll be interesting.
Glad you see it my way.
[Rolling Backstory…]
[Child of Eminence]
Your parents are special to this world. Whether they were leaders, heroes, villains, or even gods. It's up to you to find out who they are.
[Orphan]
You have lived in an orphanage for as long you can remember, growing up in impoverished conditions. It is unknown how you came to be there.
[Petty Thief]
You've committed some thievery to make ends meet. This earned the attention of some people from the criminal underworld.
Skills Acquired
[Sprint] Level: 18 [0%]
Push energy into your legs to move faster.
[Stealth] Level: 14 [0%]
Become one with the shadows or hide in plain sight, they won't be able to find you.
This skill is less effective on people with a higher level than you.
[Steal] Level: 25 [0%]
The ability to "relieve" items from those that do not require them anymore.
This skill is less effective on targets with a higher level than you.
Perk Acquired
[Multiverse Shuffle]
This version of the Persona Universe you will be placed in will be different from the ones you know, taking multiple aspects of the multiverse.
Multiverse Shuffle? Does this mean my Persona knowledge is useless?
Not necessarily. It can still be of some use, but this perk, which I've seen only once before, adds a whole new layer of depth to this world. In fact, you might not have to travel to other parts of the multiverse to experience it.
Wait… does this mean the Marvel Universe is now combined with the Persona Universe or something like that?
That's one example. It could also mean Marvel is not a part of this world. Possibly the Harry Potter Universe is a part of this one. There is no way of knowing until you get in there and find out. One certain thing is that the Persona Universe is here since it's the one you picked.
+15 reputation with SYSTEM [5/100] for somehow getting an interesting perk.
I will say this perk more than makes up for the wasted time in this character creation. At least I know this universe won't be boring.
Hm… I'm not sure what to think about this. On one hand, the randomness does sound fun. On the other hand, this is my new life. I only have one shot at it, and can't mess it up with being blindsided.
Anything else that we need to do SYSTEM?
Nope, we are good to go. Time to leave, hopefully before a certain two notice us.
*RUMBLE*
Again? Really, what is this?
"Now who are you, and how did you get here?" said this soft voice that seems to echo all around me, and sounds very female. This presence feels… well I'm not sure how to describe it. Empty. I guess?
Who the heck is this?
"No mortal ever survives my home for as long as you have. Also, it feels like the void is welcoming you as if you fit right in here." Why does this voice sound familiar?
Uh oh. She's noticed. Time to go.
Initiating World Jump…
"Leaving already? No matter, we'll meet again in the future, but in the meantime take this."
I noticed a box appear in front of me, but before I could read it I was hit with a blinding white light all around me.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
When the light finally died down I opened my eyes, and the first thing I noticed was the screen that popped before I came here, and what I saw had me… shocked would be an understatement.
Perk Acquired
[Blessing of the Infinite]
Ophis, the Infinite Dragon, has taken an interest in you and has decided to give you her blessing. Whether this is good, or bad remains to be seen, but there is a very good chance you will run into her in the future. I hope you will be prepared.
-HP regeneration and MP regeneration are increased by 100%.
-All stats increased by 10%
…Ophis. The Infinite Ouroboros Dragon God. I started just my new life, and I already have a Dragon God's attention. I supposed it makes sense I would eventually get her attention. The place I was in before here was the Dimensional Gap, according to SYSTEM. What does Ophis mean when she said that I fit right in the Gap?
The Dimensional Gap is a place of Void energy. It's something that slowly eats away at anything that enters. The only beings who can survive unharmed are Ophis and Great Red. You were there for a LONG time before you were discovered. The fact your soul was completely intact is nothing short of a miracle. We believe the Gap somehow resonates with your soul the same way it does with Ophis'. That's why the Void didn't harm you.
…We think.
You think?
This kind of situation has never happened before. There is no precedence. This is the best we can come up with with the information we have.
Huh, alright moving on. I need to find out where and when I am. I don't know how much time I have until canon starts.
Quest Added
[Dude, Where's My Map?]
You were dropped in an alley with no memories of your counterpart's time in this world. What exactly is your role? Are you the protagonist? Will you join the Phantom Thieves later? Will you even join them at all?
Objective: Find out where you are [ ]
Find out when you are [ ]
Rewards: Access to your counterpart's memory, Access to the mini-map, 2000 Xp.
It would be incredibly boring if I wasn't a part of the story.
….
Shit, I just realized that I might not even be the protagonist. If I'm not the chances of me having the power of the wildcard is slim to none. That power is the main reason I chose this world, to begin with. Nghhh.
….
Let's not get ahead of myself with speculation. I still know nothing, so until I gather more info I'll keep an open mind.
[For thinking things through logically, gain +1 INT and +1 WIS.]
Huh, so certain actions can get me stat points.
Looking around the first thing I notice is a conveniently placed full body mirror so I decided to get a look at my appearance.
"Woah, I look good," I said aloud getting a bit lost in my appearance. I have blonde hair and green eyes. My hair is done up in a ponytail, and it looks like it can reach my mid-back if I let it down. I look a lot like Mordred from the Fate Series with some slight differences. If I didn't know any better I would say we were sisters.
Next, I notice my clothes. I'm wearing jeans with black biker boots, a black tank top, and what looks to be Mordred's leather jacket from Apocrypha.
Next is that I find myself in an alleyway. It very much looks like a city alleyway. I can hear the sounds of traffic in the distance. Looking in the sky I see it's clear and it looks like the sun is starting to set. I'd guess it's around 7 if I'm right about the time of year. While I was looking around, a notification popped up.
Through special actions, a skill has been acquired.
[Observe] Level: 1 [0%]
Provides information on a target.
Using Observe on the first item I see this is the information I get back.
Can
An empty can that someone tossed away. Do not follow suit – littering is bad!
Interesting description. Moving out of the alley I can see what looks to be a plaza to my left. Walking towards that direction, while using Observe to level it up, I can see Asian-looking people and signs written in Japanese. At this moment I just realized something important.
Hey SYSTEM, if my life is an RPG is there a screen where I can see my stats?
I was wondering when you'd notice that. Took you long enough.
Just say [Status].
How was I supposed to know? This didn't come with a tutorial.
Ohhh yeah… I knew I was forgetting something.
My bad. Here, take these as compensation.
1000 Xp gained.

You like gambling, don't you?
You do as well if your past life is any indicator.
Well, when you win as much as I did you tend to gamble a lot. Plus the thrill was always fun.
+5 reputation with SYSTEM [10/100] for your shared like of gambling.
You know, despite our rough start we seem to be getting along. Anyway Status.

Your mana will be locked until you unlock your magic circuits.
I suppose that makes sense. Do I get a quest for this?

[You're a Magus, Yuki]
To enter The Wondrous World of Magecraft you need to overcome this first hurdle.

If I recall correctly, the way to "open" them is to run some magical energy through them. I'll have to think about this later. I have more important things to do. I've now reached the plaza I and looking at it, it's obvious to see that I'm at Shibuya Crossing. At least I know where I am. Walking around for a bit I found Shibuya Station. There's someone in front handing out flyers. Maybe I can them for the date. I walk on over to her to ask
"Pardon me, can you tell me what today's date is?" As the words were leaving my mouth I was surprised that I said that all in Japanese. I did not know how to speak it in my past life but it seems I do in this one. I guess that should have been obvious since I chose P5R. How can I go through the story without understanding what everyone is saying?
"Uh, today is Friday, April 8th." She looked a bit surprised by the question but answered right away.
"What year?" I asked
"2016." She answered, in a bit of disbelief. I think she was surprised someone didn't know what year it is.
"Thanks." I said. I walked away towards the Hachiko Statue to sit on one of the benches and gather my thoughts. As I sat down I got some notifications.

[Damage Resistance] Level: 4 [13%]

Well, I got something from the killer headache and some rather shocking memories. Because if I'm recalling these memories right, I seem to personally know the main characters of the Yakuza series.
Alright, let's go through these. I was born on January 21, 2001. For as long as I can remember I grew up in Sunflower Orphanage, the same orphanage where Kiryu, Nishiki, Haruka, and her mom grew up. According to the caretakers I arrived in March of 2002. Apparently, Haruka took a liking to me. She disappeared in December 2005, came back in November 2006, then disappeared again, and didn't come back. Obviously the events of the first two games. In 2009 Kashiwagi died and the orphanage went belly up. Some shady people then owned the place, I got kicked out, and ended up homeless at the age of 9. For the next 4 months, I was staying at homeless camps and learned how to steal from people to get food. I got caught lifting a wallet from the wrong guy he was a Yakuza. He was about to drag me away when Goro Freakin' Majima showed and rescued me. Took me to his office in Millennium Tower where I pretty much lived. Ate and slept in the office itself didn't really leave.
Growing up in a Yakuza Family office was an interesting experience. Some were alright with me, they taught me how to improve my stealing skills, which explains why the skill is so high. Some didn't take to me sought to push me around. Those people were shown the error of the ways by their boss. Majima raised me alright in his… weird… crazy sort of way. We watched lots of movies most of them were zombie movies. Played the newest games too. It seems that the video games of this world are the same as the ones from mine. That's a nice surprise.
Unfortunately, it didn't last. In March 2010 the events of Yakuza 4 took place and Majima was arrested. Before he was he had someone send me to New Serena. Kiryu came back and I met him for the first time, told him my life story. Maybe he took pity on me or maybe Majima told him to, after the final boss battles, he took me with him to Morning Glory Orphanage in Okinawa. I went to school for the first time, grew up there with everyone, and reunited with Haruka. Over a year later Haruka for an idol career, Kiryu left, and in December 2012 the events of Yakuza 5 took place. Of course, me being in Okinawa couldn't do anything, not that I even knew anything was going on. Haruka came back in January 2013 and then, once again, disappeared 1 month later. That's the third time now.
With that backstory FINALLY out of the way, the reason my counterpart is in Tokyo is that the foster agency connected to the orphanage finally found someone willing to take me in. My counterpart seems to have gotten bored of Okinawa and wants to go back to the city. The one who has taken me in is one Sojiro Sakura. The one who takes in Ren because his parents were friends of his. I'm supposed to meet Sojiro tomorrow which is when canon starts in P5. Tomorrow we're supposed to meet, the day after we're to head to Shujin Academy and introduce myself. A bit of a problem though, my counterpart got a little too excited, came here a day early, and now I don't have a place to stay for the night. And here we are.

Hah, my most immediate problem is that I don't have a place to stay for the night. Taking a look at the map, it looks like it's similar to the map in Yakuza, it highlights points of interest. It's highlighting different convenience stores, arcades, pawnshops, etc. There's one building highlighted that's a 24/7 internet café about 10 minutes from here.

~ 45 Minutes Later and ¥2500 shorter ~
After I took a shower, believe it or not, there's a private shower here, I went back to the booth I rented for 12 hours and slid the door closed. Now, I know Persona and Yakuza are in this world and there are definitely more. Time to figure them out, starting with my name.
[Yuki Eislyn Emiya]
[Level: 3]
I already know I have magic circuits thanks to SYSTEM, so Fate might be here.
That's the only bone I'm throwing you.
Alright, let's find out how many things can kill me in this world.

~ 3 Hours Later ~
Nothing. I couldn't find anything else about other universes here. Nothing obvious like Marvel or DC. All that time on the computer and the only things I learned is Fuyuki and confirming the past events of the Yakuza games. There have to be more than 3 universes involved in this shuffle. Hah, I guess I'll figure it out as I go.
Here's a small summary.
Searching on the computer, I couldn't find anything on Shirou Emiya or any Emiya. I tried looking up Tohsaka, Einzbern, and Matou but that was a dead end as well. Also tried looking up as many major and minor characters I could think of, still couldn't find anything. However, Fuyuki City does exist, so I guess I'll have to take a trip there at some point.
Quest Added
[Family Legacy]
You have discovered you share the same family name with a certain "Hero of Justice". Are you two related? No matter how much you look the only lead you can find is Fuyuki City. Maybe you will get answers to this elusive part of your life there.
Objective: Go to Fuyuki City and see what connections you can find.
Rewards: ?
I'm not sure what to do with the Yakuza series. Kiryu is still in prison right now, doesn't get out until December which is when Yakuza 6 begins. I… could go see him… but I have no reason to. I guess I'm waiting 'til then to meet him. Haruka has most likely given birth to her son by now and is in hiding. Finding her is next to impossible. I don't have the time nor am I strong enough to potentially fight the yakuza.
Right, the plan, for now, is this. I'll follow the story of P5 for now. The end of April is Golden Week, so I'll use that opportunity to go to Fuyuki. That gives me 5 days to work with. As for Yakuza, I can stay in contact with the others in the orphanage, their number is in my memories. Just need my own cell phone first. Can't do anything about Kiryu or Haruka, so I might be forced to wait 'til December to deal with this.
…And that's it for now I suppose. I'll change it as I go through the year.
[All that research and planning counts for something. +3 INT and +3 WIS]
Hm, it's midnight now. What do I do now? I don't need food or sleep. I suppose I can work out. If I can gain stats without stat points, working out increases my physical stats. I could also work on my skills. Hah, this is gonna be annoying.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Author's Note:
That's the first chapter. I hope it was enjoyable enough. Constructive criticism would be appreciated.
I noticed not much dialogue, the main character only talks with one person while the rest of the chapter is her inner monologue. Hopefully, the next chapter will have much we'll see how it goes.
