Chapter 20
The next day, Eren decides to talk about his plan. Eren says, "The Rumbling was at first not the path that I would want to take, that's why we decide to believe that we can just negotiate instead of causing war. That's why we've asked Hizuru to persuade other nations. Sadly, it didn't work. The world would unite if they all treat Paradis as a source of evil."
"How could they just do that? Just treat us as devils without hearing us out..." Petra frowns.
"It's probably because of us Marley's fault..." Colt frowns. "They keep using Eldians to fight their war... if they're terrified by a lot of Eldians in Marley, what about Paradis, where all of the population consisted of Eldians?"
"You're right, as long as we can turn into Titans, we are a threat." Marco says.
"But we still don't want to give up, that's why we decide to go to the nations ourselves." Sasha says. "We headed to Marley first, and then other places... we tried their culture and anything else..."
"However, we also see the prejudice of how the other races treated Eldians, and we've even gotten to attend the hearing between politicians to discuss Eldian mistreatment. Everything that happened made me realize that negotiations are a no-go... and since my powers let me know that Willy Tybur was going to declare a war on us, I know I have to take action." Eren says.
"So that's why you left us without saying anything. Mikasa was really sad when you did that, and the others are really angry." Sasha says with slight anger.
"I know, all I did was send letters to you, and those letters... I did ask Falco for help from that."
"What did you write on the letters?" Colt asks. "Do you know how broken Falco is when he learned that you used him?"
"I know how it feels... Reiner did the same thing to us, how would I don't know?" Eren says, "Those letters reached my comrades, that's what I told him. However, in those letters, I only told them how I was doing, and only to destroy the port where the reinforcements were going in. The whole attack was planned with the Anti-Marley Volunteers and my own faction: the Yeagerists."
"The Yeagerists? You even have your own faction?" Petra asks with slight shock.
"Right now the government is controlled mostly by Yeagerists." Eren says. "Which is why we have to hide here since who knows what they're going to do. Of course, it is my fault that it happens..."
"Anyway, just continue." Erwin says.
"During my undercover in Marley, I was forced to attend the Mid-East War since I'm an Eldian." Eren says. "I saw all of you guys, the Warrior Candidates, there was the one who was Reiner's cousin..."
"You mean Gabi?" Colt asks.
"Yeah, she was brave enough to go into the front lines and throw the bomb under the armored train." Eren says.
"Wait, so if you're there, how come nobody recognize you?" Colt asks with confusion. "Reiner or Pieck could've recognized you, right?"
"I don't know why didn't recognize me...maybe because I was having long hair instead of my usual short hair..." Eren says. "And the fact that I pretended to be a wound soldier without an eye and a leg also helped."
Everyone frowns as Eren continues, "And the day when Willy Tybur declared the war...I asked Falco to bring Reiner to me. Since I wanted to have a talk with an old friend before starting the attack."
"Old friend, huh..." Marco says, "It really is old friend."
"We've heard how Willy Tybur speaking the truth of how Karl Fritz is a coward, and they are going to use me as a reason to declare the war. Speaking about how I usurped the king and how I am going to use the Rumbling. They're not wrong after all, I'm the bad guy in this story."
"Eren..." Everyone feels sad for him.
"Back then, I asked Reiner: Why was my mother eaten by a Titan? Why would they try to destroy the world? The walls and the ocean are the only things that differentiate us. We're all people who want to live." Eren says. "Reiner couldn't handle the guilt that he caused, and I could hear him begging for me to kill him...part of me really want to give up attacking because of how Reiner was feeling."
"But you didn't..." Sasha says.
"Yes, because I vowed to destroy my enemies, and if they wanted a war, they'll have it right now." Eren says.
"And that's why you somehow appeared when Willy Tybur declared the war and then you started to attack the people there... there were not only military forces, there were innocent people as well. You killed a lot of children..." Colt says with slight anger.
"Not all of them were Eren's fault." Just then, they are surprised to see that Frieda was the one talking. "Since I'm the War Hammer Titan, I have Lara Tybur's memories... before the declaration of war began, they planted some of the seats with bombs, Marley already knew you were going to attack, and they wanted to make sure the world turned against us..."
Eren widens his eyes, he thought all of the deaths there was his fault. Sasha asks, "Is that true?"
"What is his name, Magath or something, he tried to against the plan because so many innocents would die. And this is what Willy said, if the enemy's goal is to damage Marley's military, it works perfectly. When you rebuild the military, the party will approve whomever you choose. Most of them will be Eldians! They're spawns of the devil! Don't change on me now, Commander Magath. You've sent countless Eldians marching into machine guns and land mines. Why does it matter whether they wear uniforms or not? Just keep doing what you've always done. Unless I stand on stage, the world will not take notice. The military, newspapers, and ambassadors won't gather in one place. Above all, the Eldians of the internment zone and I must be made a tragic victim. A victim of an 'unforeseen attack'. If I were the sole survivor, the world will not become our ally."
Eren clenches his fist, "All this time I have been guilty about their deaths... but to think that some of the deaths were even planned by them..."
Colt says, "And we've trusted them... how dare they..."
Frieda says, "Eren, you were the last War Hammer Titan, right? How couldn't you see this part of memory?"
Eren frowns, "I already have 2 of the 9 inside me, I wouldn't bother to remember the third one. My plan was already set in motion, and how I would die is also in my mind. That's why I never thought about the memories..."
"So you guys attacked Liberio, right?" Petra asks.
"With the ODM gear and the Thunder Spears, we were having a slight advantage." Eren says. "We've also gathered the lights so that our airship could come and take us away. Armin used the Colossal Titan's powers to destroy the whole battleships, and Sasha and Jean killed all the Panzer Units. I was focusing on gaining the power of the War-Hammer Titan with Mikasa. Captain Levi was dealing with Zeke, only to bring him aboard the ship."
Eren sighs, "We have a number of 8 casualties... including Sasha, who was shot in the chest by Gabi when she and Falco snuck onto our ship."
Everyone frowns and Erwin says, "At least compared to the battle to retake Wall Maria, the casualties are lowered. But starting the attack like that and leaving without saying anything, you were sent to the dungeon once again, right?"
"The dungeon was no use for me now that I had the War Hammer Titan, the whole military was planning on feeding me to a random person so that my powers were taken." Eren says, "The military lost their trust in me."
"You might be true about that." Sasha says. "But you were doing this for our sake, right?"
Eren nods, "My own faction, the Yeagerists, learn about this and they decide to spread to the crowd about me being imprisoned. To the citizens, what I was doing was bringing justice for all the Titan attacks that Marley and the outside world caused. And everyone had been dying to know why I was imprisoned."
"That was kind of messed up..." Fay says.
"The Yeagerists are mostly the new Scouts from 105th to 109th, and in order for me to activate the Rumbling, they will do anything necessary." Eren says, "They planned the bombing on Premier Zackley's office, and they put Zeke's spinal fluid inside all of the Military's wine. Commander Pyxis, Commander Nile, some of the Garrison and Military Police drink it."
This causes everyone to gasp in shock. Erwin frowns, "So this is why the whole Military was controlled by the Yeagerists..."
"What about Historia? What happened to her?" Frieda asks.
"Historia was pregnant, so she was staying at the Reiss farm." Eren says.
"I see..." Frieda says.
"I also heard that after your death, Nicolo was devastated and he offered your family to eat at his restaurant." Eren says to Sasha.
"I'm glad to know..." Sasha says.
"And your family... including Kaya, they actually found Gabi and Falco as they brought them to your house." Eren adds, which causes Sasha to flinch.
"But isn't Gabi the one who killed Sasha? Why would-"
"They didn't know. They didn't know she was Sasha's murderer. All they know was that they were from Marley. They wanted to ask Nicolo to find a way to bring them back to Marley, and it was then that they revealed they're the ones who killed Sasha." Eren says. "I know that Kaya was devastated, she wanted to get revenge but was stopped by your other family members. When Nicolo learned about your death, he accidentally slammed Falco to the wall that was filled with wine with Zeke's Spinal Fluid."
"So that's how he was injested..." Colt frowns.
"The rest of the scouts were also there, so I also got there since I had some things I needed to talk to Mikasa and Armin." Eren says as he lowers his head.
"You're going to tell them the truth?" Marco asks.
"No, I'm going to make them hate me." Eren says, much to their surprise. "But why?" Fay asks with horror.
"As I mentioned, they're going to be the ones who kill me..." Eren has tears in his eyes. "It was hard for me... wanting Mikasa to hate me... because I love her..."
"Eren..." Petra frowns as she says, "You really don't want to do that, right?"
"Of course, I don't... I don't have a choice. I called Mikasa a slave, but I'm the real slave while she isn't... I am the slave of my future memories and fate..." Eren says.
"What you've done has been done..." Erwin sighs. "Maybe you should try to talk to them once this is over."
"I don't know if I could..." Eren says, "I gave Armin a beating just like how Captain Levi used to do to me... and I also imprisoned all of my friends in the dungeon..."
Seeing Eren's face, Marco says, "I think we should end the story here. Eren clearly needs some time alone to think about what he's done..."
Everyone nods as they all head back to their houses.
