CHAPTER 139

We leave the Crossfire and climb into the waiting Bentley with Angus and dad takes me to Vidal Records next. Dad strides in and goes straight to an office, and opens the door without pausing. I see Christopher who looks up at the intrusion and his face breaks into a huge smile as he sees us.

"Hey bro!" he says as he stands up. "What are you two doing here?" he asks as he grins at me.

Dad shrugs, "Just showing Jared around" he says, Christopher nods before turning his attention towards me, "You are always welcome to come here and hang out in the archive" he says to me.

"Thanks!" I say simply.

Dad and Christopher talk for a few more moments, as Christopher decides that while he has dad here, he can run a few things past him. I listen to him asking dad's opinion on things and he is deferring to dad, so much so that dad shakes his head.

"Christopher, you know this business inside out and your instincts are always good, I trust them so you don't need to do this" dad says.

Christopher shrugs, "I was such an asshole to you for such a long time I fought against you for the sake of it so now…" he trails off and shrugs again.

Dad places his hand on Christophers shoulder, "That is the past" he says simply.

Dad takes me to the archive and I look through some of the past artists who were signed by Vidal Records. We have a wonderful morning and then dad looks at his watch, "Let's go back to the Crossfire, and meet Eva for lunch" he says and I nod. We step outside on to the sidewalk and Angus seems to appear from nowhere and pulls up outside Vidal Records.

"How does he do that?" I ask and dad grins.

"Years of practice" he says.

We enter the Crossfire and I freeze as I see Eva in the arms of another man, a man who is kissing her on the cheek. I look up at dad who is almost bristling and I wonder what the hell is going on.

"Dad?" I ask carefully.

"It appears that Cary Taylor is joining us for lunch" dad says coldly. He takes a deep breath and stiffly walks towards the man who is still draped all over Eva.

Eva turns and sees dad and immediately pulls away from him, and walks into his arms.

I watch as dad possessively grabs her and kisses her almost violently. I'm getting some really negative vibes from dad since he saw this guy and I wonder who he is.

Eva turns to me and pulls the man closer, "Jared this is my best friend in the whole world Cary Taylor. Cary this is Gideon's son Jared" she says.

The man grins at me and slaps me on the shoulder.

"Good to meet you" he says simply, I take a look at him. I'm not sure what I think as something feels off about him, almost as if he is hiding something as he seems very tightly reined in. He turns towards dad, "Good to see you again Gideon" he says and dad just nods.

"Cary" he says coldly.

I stay close to dad as we make our way out in silence. It is clear dad really doesn't like this man and I wonder what the story is. We make our way to an Italian restaurant and as dad enters a man comes up and greets dad warmly.

I watch as dad seems to relax slightly before pulling me forward once more, "Jared this is my good friend Arnoldo Ricci" he says, "Arnoldo this is my son Jared" he adds.

I stare at the man, "Wait… wait… not the Arnoldo Ricci, the famous Italian chef who has a programme on the food channel… mom…" I stop and swallow hard, "My mom... my mom… loved your programmes" I stammer and inwardly cringe at the tremor in my voice.

Dad immediately wraps his arm around me as Arnoldo smiles kindly at me and touching my face says something to me in Italian.

I look up at dad, "What did he say?" I ask.

"Apologies, that was rude, I said I am sorry for your loss" the man says gently in a strong Italian accent and he squeezes my shoulder.

I thank him and he leads us over to a table, where a woman and man are sitting waiting. They both stand and greet dad, Eva and Cary and they look at me sympathetically.

"Jared this is my mom and step dad, Monica and Richard Stanton" Eva explains. I look at the woman and it is obvious now I know as she looks very like Eva.

"Hello Jared" the man says kindly, I am a bit surprised that he is this woman's husband as he clearly is far older than the woman, while she doesn't look that much older than Eva.

I politely say hello to them and we take our seats. I watch the woman watching Cary closely and she frowns, "Is everything ok Cary, you don't seem to be your usual self today?" she says.

Cary grins and glances at me, "Eva told me I had to be on my best behaviour today" he says with a wicked grin.

"That would be a first" dad mutters under his breath.

I realise that he obviously feels awkward around me, and doesn't know how to behave with me here, it accounts for his tightly reined in demeanour and it also makes me wonder how he normally does behave. I can't say I like him and I'm not sure about Eva's parents either, something just seems off… fake about the woman, like she is putting on a show for appearances. I feel awkward and uncomfortable so I don't really speak much over lunch and I notice that dad is pretty quiet as well. I'm glad when it comes to an end.

Mr and Mrs Stanton make their excuses and leave and then Cary stands up, he kisses Eva on the cheek once more.

"I have to go too baby girl, I've got a shoot this afternoon and don't want to keep my public waiting" he says.

Eva rolls her eyes and wraps her arm around him, "I'll talk to you later" she says and with that the man nods before turning towards me.

He smiles at me, "It was good to meet you kid… you take care of yourself" he says and I'm surprised at the warm genuine sincerity of that comment.

"Thank you I will" I say.

Cary turns towards dad, "Gideon" he says simply and dad nods.

"Cary" he replies.

With that the man goes leaving us with Eva. "I need to get back to work, what are your plans for this afternoon?" she asks.

I shrug and look at dad questioningly.

Dad smiles at me, "I've shown him around the Crossfire and we have been to see Christopher at Vidal Records so I was thinking maybe a bit of sightseeing – or even an exploration of Central Park?" he says, "and maybe check out some of the other landmarks in the city?" he adds.

I nod enthusiastically at that, "I was hoping to go to Central Park at some point as I've not been there since I was a little kid, when we came here for a vacation" I say hopefully.

Dad smiles, "Then that is where we will go" he says.

As we are leaving Arnoldo comes out to say goodbye, he grasps dads' hand and pulls him into a warm hug and then speaks to him in rapid fluent Italian, to which dad nods solemnly and then replies also in Italian. I stare at them and dad catches sight of me watching.

"Sorry Jared, we are being rude again. Arnoldo's first language is Italian and as I'm fluent in it we find it easier to converse in that language rather than English. He was just telling me to take care of you" he explains.

"That's ok" I reply and I turn towards Arnoldo, "Thank you for your concern sir" I add.

Arnoldo touches my cheek affectionately again, "You will make Gideon proud" he says to me in heavily accented English.

We leave the restaurant and dad puts his arm around my shoulder as we walk towards Central Park. "Has Angus taken Eva back to the Crossfire?" I ask and dad nods.

"He has, we are on our own for a while. Angus will re-join us after he has dropped Eva off though" he says.

I think for a moment and then decide to ask what I really want to know, "You don't like that guy… Cary do you?" I ask.

Dad lets out a small snort, "I made it that obvious?" he asks and I let out a snort of my own.

"Dad trust me, it couldn't have been clearer if you had a massive neon sign flashing above your head saying 'I think this guy is a dick'" I say, then I flush slightly at my choice of words.

I watch as dad throws his head back and laughs loudly at that and when he eventually pulls himself together, he even has to wipe his eyes. "Oh god Jared that was priceless, and for the record yes, I do think he is a dick. However, he is Eva's closest friend so I have to tolerate him. He has known her a long while and while I believe her life would be better without him in it that is not my call to make".

"Why?" I ask curious as to why dad dislikes the man so much, "Are you jealous of him?" I ask.

Dad shakes his head, "Good god no, admittedly when I first got with Eva I felt a little threatened by him as I wasn't sure what her relationship with him was, but now no, Eva looks upon him as a brother and I know there is nothing remotely sexual or romantic between them. They met in San Diego, which is where Eva was from. Cary is self-destructive and Eva always seems to be the one who ends up picking up the pieces when he does detonate... there are reasons why he is like he is, and also reasons why Eva won't give up on him. To be fair, I couldn't ask her to do so, considering I didn't want her to give up on me when I carry just as much baggage as Cary does".

"That woman said he was behaving out of character… how does he normally behave?" I ask and dad snorts again.

"He is loud, obnoxious and totally inappropriate. He says things just to shock people, when he first met Christian and Elliot he came on to them – he's bisexual and he made some totally inappropriate comments".

My eyes widen at that, "Seriously?" I say.

Dad nods, "Seriously" he replies. "I can't tell you any more about him, as it's not my story to tell and to be fair I'm not totally aware of his full story, I just know that he has issues" he says.

I nod, "I get that, what about that woman… she seemed I don't know, fake as if she was putting on a front?" I ask.

Dad shakes his head incredulously, "You are so perceptive it is frightening" he says with clear admiration, "That is Eva's mother and things are not so great between them at the moment. You know how Eva and Ana discovered they were sisters this year which set in motion the chain of events which followed?" he says and I nod.

"Well, the catalyst for that was when Eva's father got shot. He is a police officer and at that point in time was a cop in San Diego, he got shot and we flew out to California when we got the news. While we were talking with the doctor in charge of Victors care Eva made some comments regarding his blood type and hers. Eva's father has apparently got a very rare blood type and it was during that visit that Eva discovered that a man with her father's blood type couldn't possibly father someone with her blood type. She confronted her mother and her mother confessed that her biological father was a man called Frank Lambert. Eva naturally wanted to track this man down, and I called Miranda at Finding Family as she was an old friend of mine and I knew she would be able to help. Which she did and that was when they tracked down Ana and the rest you know, from your Google searches" he says with a grin.

I stiffen, "So, Eva's mom lied to her and told her that Victor was her dad?" I ask.

Dad shrugs, "Pretty much, thankfully it didn't damage her relationship with Victor, on the contrary he transferred to New York from San Diego and he now lives here in New York and works for the NYPD. But since then, the relationship with her mom has been somewhat strained. Monica wasn't at all happy when Eva and Ana first made the fact that they were sisters public and she wasn't too thrilled when they did the interview with Elliot either".

"Wow" I say.

I look around me as we enter the park. "This is beautiful" I say.

Dad nods, "It is quite special" he says.

We continue to walk and chat until suddenly he pauses as his phone starts buzzing and he pulls it out and looks at it before quickly answering.

"Cross" he says, "When?... shit! Where are you?... Ok well we are in Central Park at the moment". Dad glances around, "We are near Literary Walk… alright… yes I'll tell him… I'll see you shortly… thank you Angus… bye". Dad sighs as he pushes his phone into his pocket.

"Corrine is back in New York and according to Angus, he spotted her near Tableau One as he was leaving with Eva… he immediately informed Raul who came and has been shadowing her, and according to Raul, she watched us leave and is now following us, but she is keeping her distance so we don't see her at the moment".

Dad is now scanning the area and on full alert, and I make the decision to do something… something pretty radical as I don't want this for my dad and so I reach out and touch his arm. "Dad, can you call Raul and tell him to make her aware that we know what she's doing?" I say.

"But" he argues.

"I've decided that I want to meet her… and to speak to her" I say.

Dad's eyes widen at that, but he nods and pulls out his phone once more, this time calling Raul and the order is clear.

"Raul, make Corrine aware of you. Jared wants to speak to her" he says and then hangs up. We sit down on a seat and wait.

A few moments later we hear arguing and shouting, dad looks up and grins as he spots Corrine in the distance. I follow his gaze and I see her and Raul. She is gesticulating wildly at him and causing a scene.

"Come on" dad says standing up and we walk towards her. My heart is beating hard in my chest as we walk towards the woman.

"She is causing a scene and trying to play the victim" I say and dad nods.

"Cut the crap Corrine, did you really think you could stalk us and not be noticed?" dad says sharply.

"Gideon" she says and immediately she calms proving it was all an act, she preens and touches her hair and I let out a snort, now certain of what I am going to do – she wants to create a scene, so I will give her one. She wants attention so I'll make sure she gets it in spades.

"He's not interested in you" I say and she looks at me briefly before effectively dismissing me and returning her gaze back to Gideon and that is all I need to know.

I step forward in front of dad and he places his hands on my shoulders, silently letting me know that he is supporting me as I protect and defend him.

"You really do have no shame do you?" I say.

She stares at me, "I beg your pardon, how dare you speak to me like that" she splutters.

I hold out my hands, "What do you expect me to say? Hello mommy dearest – would you prefer that instead?" I say and she gasps and starts glancing around her drawing more attention to herself and people around us are starting to pay attention.

This is what I was hoping for, so I continue to bate her, "Yeah, remember me the kid you lied to everyone about? Everyone except the one person you should've told. Didn't you tell him about me because you weren't sure I was his because you opened your legs for that French guy? Or were you just hedging your bets but still didn't want a kid to spoil your selfish plans… or maybe you were looking for the fairy-tale… you know the one you wrote down and tried to sell to Ana at Grey Publishing? The one about two rich guys fighting over you?"

Corrine is now looking around anxiously at the people who have stopped to watch and are openly gaping and, hopefully filming this. My altercation with Chris Vidal taught me something and right now I'm teaching this woman a lesson and I just hope dad will forgive me for doing it as it is not going to be subtle. I look up at him, "Forgive me for what I'm about to do" I whisper to him and he just squeezes my shoulder reassuringly.

I take that as his acceptance and I step closer to her, and I raise my voice but not to the level of shouting just louder. "Why are you following us? What do you want? You don't want me as you were nothing but an incubator to me, you lied to everyone telling them that dad didn't want to know about me when the truth was he had no idea I even existed, because you never told him about me. You also made sure he would never find out about me with a series of bizarre demands which were put in writing in the adoption papers you made my mom and dad sign, demands ensuring my biological father remained in ignorance about me for years. You popped me out and dumped me the same day leaving without looking back so you could run off to France with Jean Francois – you remember him, the guy you were screwing around with while you were supposed to be engaged to my dad. You don't want me… so it must be dad you are after, after all you have tried on many occasions to cause trouble between dad and Eva, the latest one being when you tried to manipulate Eva's sister – what was your angle there Corrine? Were you bored? Were you just looking for attention? I know all about you Corrine and everything I know can be backed up with witness accounts and even official documents. So, here's the thing if it is dad you are setting your sights on - dad isn't interested in you. He loves Eva, in fact he adores Eva and he worships the ground she walks on. I've seen how he is with her and how she is with him, they love each other so much. You on the other hand…" I look up at dad, "Dad, would it be fair to say she's irrelevant to you?" I say.

Dad smiles at me, he is glowing with paternal pride and his hands are digging into my shoulders almost painfully.

"Yes, Jared it would" he says simply.

I return my attention back to Corrine, as I do so I see a number of people are recording this, and it gives me the courage to continue with my tirade. "There you go, you heard him you are irrelevant so stop trying to get his attention because he doesn't want to give it to you. Just leave my dad alone after what you have done to him, you have caused enough trouble and damage already".

"Gideon, I love you" Corrine pleads as she totally ignores me.

I snort, "Love? You love him? Seriously?! Listen lady if you love him and think what you have done to him is love then I dread to think how you would treat someone you despised! First and foremost, he is married Corrine, he loves someone else so you can profess your love for him all you like but it doesn't mean anything to him because he loves Eva. But you don't love him you don't even know the meaning of the word. You just want to use him and manipulate him. You kept him ignorant of the fact he was my dad for thirteen years. You want his attention; you want the status his name and wealth would give you but guess what you aint getting any of it because he loves Eva and she loves him… and that really burns you doesn't it? Because you already know that from your past attempts to try and split them up which failed. I can confirm that what they have is love, and it's a pure and beautiful thing". I pause and take a deep breath and touch my chin as though I'm thinking.

"But you know what, you are my mommy" I say that with so much derisive sarcasm I even hear a few people around us stifle sniggers, but I continue regardless as I want to humiliate this woman. A part of me is shocked by the way I am behaving but I have so much pent-up anger over everything I have learnt about not only her but everything else that has happened that I want her to feel how I feel. She wants to hurt my dad so to me it's very simple I want to hurt her. She has tried to hurt my dad over the years with her actions and it prevented him knowing about me, which in turn prevented me from knowing him. I could've had him in my life if she hadn't been so selfish. I am going to hurt her and I know that I am going to humiliate her and her humiliation is going to be a very public one but I reason after everything she has done to dad she deserves it, "…so I feel I should give you something here despite the fact you offloaded me without a second thought, so here's the thing… you want attention, right? I have given you all the attention you will ever need right here and right now – look around you Corrine, just look at all the attention you are getting from all these people who are watching and listening to what you have done. Look at how they are filming it and just think how that will be all over the internet within the hour, and then everyone in the world will know exactly what sort of person you are. Dad does not want you; dad does not love you. You killed any love he had for you when you cheated on him, when you told lies about him, when you failed to inform him that he was going to be a father. When you had me adopted and went to great lengths to make sure that he would never find that fact out… but he did, because I went looking for him and I found him. When you tried to ruin his life when you returned to New York and tried to drive a wedge between him and his new girlfriend… or wife?" I pause and look at dad questioningly.

"Girlfriend at that point in time" he says simply. "Eva and I weren't married when she tried to make her believe she had slept with me, when she tried her hardest to cause us to split". I open my mouth to speak, but dad continues so I shut it again, now he focusses his hard gaze on Corrine, but he is still speaking to me.

"Also, when she tried emotional blackmail when she swallowed a bottle of pills when Eva and I got engaged and, in the process, killed her husband's child which she was carrying" he says coldly. I stare at him in stupefied shock at that revelation and then at the woman in front of me.

"God that's low!" I gasp, that statement has got to me more than anything, now knowing exactly what she is capable of and knowing that could've been me had she previously gone down that route. Something snaps inside me as I think about it.

"Stop following us. Stop stalking us – we saw you when we were in Seattle, just like we saw you today. Stop harassing us, stop trying to break dad and Eva up, stop everything and just go away!" I yell at her.

Dad wraps his arm around me, I don't know what came over me and I am now shaking severely and he crouches beside me and looks at me anxiously.

"Let's get you home" he says and I nod.

"Gideon" Corrine persists.

Dad closes his eyes and stiffens as he hears her, "Fuck" he mutters under his breath before rising to his feet.

"You heard my son Corrine and if you persist, I will press charges, now leave us the hell alone".

We walk away and as we do so Corrine shouts, "You will regret this!" she calls.

Dad spins on the spot, "Are you threatening my son?" he growls dangerously. I see Corrine's eyes widen in shock at his demeanour and she takes a step back shaking her head furiously. I also swallow hard as in that moment, I am actually scared of him.

"Dad" I whisper nervously and he turns, he must see the fear in my eyes as he drops to his knees and yanks me to him.

"I'm sorry… It's ok, I've got you" he says.

(EVA)

It's good to be back and I've quickly and easily slipped back into my groove, as I have been working remotely on my laptop while I've been in Seattle. Lunch wasn't brilliant and with hindsight it probably wasn't the best idea to invite Cary and mom and Richard along, but they have met Jared now which was my reason for inviting them.

I am working on a new marketing campaign when my phone starts going crazy, pinging incessantly. I reach for it and click on the link. My mouth drops open at the headline and I click on the video. I stare at it as it plays. It appears that Jared has totally lost it, he stands and publicly humiliates Corrine. A smile pulls at my lips, oh god he is amazing. He has done what I have always wanted to do to that bitch. I look at Gideon who is standing rigid behind Jared, just letting him have his moment, which surprises me as Gideon doesn't normally use the media like this and would normally balk at such a blatant public spectacle. A part of me wonders what the hell will happen now but he is a kid so hopefully allowances will be made for this behaviour and the media will go easy on him, when they inevitably go into a feeding frenzy over this. Then I hear Gideon speak and I'm shocked by his vindictive revelation where he outs her on her suicide attempt and how she tried to hurt me. I quickly read the accompanying post to get the jist of the angle, and am relieved to see it appears to be significantly in favour of Jared and Gideon. I click on others and am relieved to read a similar bias.

"Well, shit!" I exclaim out loud.

Mark looks up, he is working in my office on the same campaign. "Anything wrong?" he asks.

I shake my head, "I'm not entirely sure" I say.

oooOOOooo

Meanwhile in Seattle…

(CHRISTIAN)

I look at Welch closely, "So there is nothing? Nothing at all?" I ask.

Welch shrugs, "I couldn't find anything, no paper trail nothing. Whatever Ryan Landon and William Martin fell out over it wasn't significant enough to leave anything behind and I couldn't find any other link than the fact William Martin invested in LanCorp, but he sold his shares and moved on".

"Ok, fine, thanks for looking though. I just didn't want anything else coming to light, not only for Gideon but also for Jared as he's been through enough" I say.

Welch nods, "He's an incredible boy. The way he has handled everything that has happened has impressed everyone who has been around him".

I smile, I have grown very fond of Jared in the time he was here with us. My mind goes back to that evening when he had called me so scared and how I'd found him hiding in the crawl space while his aunt and uncle had been murdered in cold blood. His bravery at wanting to go back to Chicago to see if it helped him remember anything else regarding his parents deaths, the nightmares and then I remember the text he had sent me showing the statue of Oscar in the garden in Chicago. He had sent me a copy as well as the promised one which he had sent to Ray.

Welch stands up, "If that is everything sir?" he asks and I nod.

"Yes, thanks Welch" I say effectively dismissing him.

I rise from my seat and leaving my office I make my way down to Ana's office. She looks up as she sees me approach and she gives me a beautiful smile.

"Well, what have I done to deserve this?" she says.

I close the door, "Welch has dug on the link between William Martin and Ryan Landon and couldn't find anything and considering what he has managed to unearth up to this point I think that points to the fact that there is nothing to find".

Ana nods and I can see the relief on her face, "Which is a good thing" she says adamantly.

I nod in agreement, "Indeed it is" I say.

"Eva called me a short while ago, apparently they all had lunch at Tableau One and introduced Jared to Cary, Monica and Richard".

I sit down in the seat in front of her desk, "And?" I ask.

Ana shrugs, "Reading between the lines it sounds like it was a bit uncomfortable, things aren't great still between Eva and Monica" she says.

"And I suppose Cary was his usual obnoxious self" I say.

Ana shakes her head, "No actually, Eva was quite surprised by how uncarylike Cary was. Apparently even Monica commented, she asked if Cary was ok as he wasn't his usual self. She admits she told him to behave himself which considering some of the things he came out with when he met us is a good thing especially considering Jared's age but it appears he went totally the other way and withdrew completely".

"Well, I don't see the problem with that" I say dismissively.

Ana snorts, "No I suppose not, Eva is back at work now but Gideon isn't going back till Monday, she said he is showing Jared around everywhere and she said they are doing the tourist thing this afternoon".

I smile at the thought of Gideon being a tour guide of New York, "Well considering that Gideon owns a fair portion of the city that should keep them out of mischief" I say.

As I think that my phone pings, I reach for it and then Ana's starts pinging. I look at her, and we both look at our phones. When Eva had told us how she has Google alerts on Gideon I had immediately realised what a good idea that was and set up something similar on my phone for family members and it seems Ana has done the same thing.

"Holy fucking shit" I gasp as I read the headline, and click on the video.

"Oh my god" Ana exclaims.

A moment later the door bursts open and Welch appears, "Sir, it appears that…" he fades off as he takes in the video playing on my phone.

"Corinne is back in New York, yes I'm aware" I say sarcastically.

I sit and watch the video in silence, I watch how Jared eviscerates Corrine and Gideon encourages him with his own comments. Does he not realise what this will do? What the fuck is he playing at?

"Has Gideon lost his mind?" Ana asks when she has finished watching the video.

"To be fair I think that was all Jared and Gideon just went along with it" I say.

Part of me is impressed by Jared's thinking here, he made the comment that Corrine was just looking for attention so in his mind he was giving her all the attention she could ever want by publicly humiliating her. He had realised the power of the internet very quickly after his unsolicited words with Chris went viral, but this is a very dangerous game and could quite easily have backfired on him.

I watch and I am concerned, not only for Jared's state of mind as he is clearly very distressed by the end but also Gideon as he isn't behaving rationally, especially with his final outburst after Corrine threatens them. Jared is a child, but Gideon knows better.

"That was awful" Ana says as she puts down her phone. "I don't like Corrine and it could be argued she brought it on herself for stalking them, but that… that was brutal" she says.

I nod, I am shocked by what I have just watched and my first instinct is to phone Caroline and get her to call Gideon and talk some damn sense into him, I think for a moment and opening my email on my phone I compose a brief message to Caroline.

SUBJECT: Gideon & Jared Cross

Hello Caroline please find attached a video which has gone viral and which came to my attention a few moments ago.

I am very concerned by this and by the out of character behaviour being exhibited by Gideon and Jared throughout.

I read it and am happy with what I have written, I cannot demand she does anything, but if she is aware of this then hopefully when Gideon and Jared have their next therapy sessions it can be discussed. I attach the link for the video and press send.

A few moments later my phone starts to ring.

"Grey" I say as I answer.

"Christian, Caroline Maguire here, thank you for your email. I was actually already aware of the incident. I have had a call from Gideon and I've just finished speaking to him, but thank you for sending it to me as it is useful for me to see exactly what happened in New York".

"Oh thank god, I have to say I was concerned as they were both behaving out of character" I say.

"I quite agree" she says simply.

"However, I can see Jared's reasoning. After watching the video, I have come to the conclusion that he was attempting to protect and defend his father in some way. In his mind he was trying to stop Corrine and her harassment and he was using the fact she was harassing them and as he put it looking for Gideon's attention. So, after what happened with Chris Vidal, he realised that causing a scene in a public place would indeed give Corrine a great deal of attention… and Gideon was shocked because someone was doing that for him" I say as I understand immediately what has happened.

"Well obviously I cannot comment on the reasoning behind their actions today but rest assured I will be working closely with them and thanks again for sending me the video link" she says.

"Yes, thank you Caroline" I say.

After a few more words are exchanged I kill the call, "Gideon has called Caroline" I say.

"Oh, that's good" Ana says.
