A/N - Wedding day is over, let's see what adventures are up next for our newlyweds.
Marti - Paige is capable of making Walter do just about anything. I was sure hoping for a wedding at the end of the show too.
LouBe - I'm glad you liked it. How could she not sing Happy.
Railman - Paige had the time of her life. That's all Walter wanted. You nailed the last part of the review. Good on you.
Part 25 Sunday July 5, 2018
They finally left their suite around eight in the morning, happily married and hand in hand, and met Happy and Toby sitting at the resort café eating an early breakfast.
"Hey Waige. Didn't think we would see you guys this early. Must not have had to busy of a night. Figured you guys would still be sleeping."
"We uh, never quite got to sleep." Paige told them, blushing, but not really. She didn't care who knew what happened after last night.
"Good god O'Brien." Toby started to say before seeing the look directed his way from Happy. "Sorry, trying to be a little less personal, you know, with you guys."
"Thanks Toby." Walter said.
"So where is everyone else?" Paige asked.
"Cabe and Allie were taking a walk on the beach and Sly and Ralph haven't made it up yet." Happy told them. "Any plans for today?"
"Yeah, we were hoping to take Ralph with us for the afternoon and just spend a little time with him before we leave to wherever it is we are going." Paige told them still in the dark on their honeymoon destination.
"I need to tell you guys, last night was even better than bachelor party night, and we all know how good of a time I had that night. Both of you guys were incredible up there. There have been people coming up to us all morning telling us how much fun they had at the reception."
"Oh my gosh. It was all amazing. Everything yesterday was." Paige was starting to tell them.
"Just the people I was looking for." The wedding coordinator said as she saw the four friends sitting around a table. She let out a sigh looking towards Walter.
"Hey, did anyone happen to turn in a hat last night. I lost it two days ago at the karaoke bar, but since the whole place pretty much showed up yesterday, I thought maybe someone brought it back." Toby asked to the amusement of everyone.
"No, I can't say that someone turned in a hat." Lisa the coordinator told him.
"OK, just if someone does, you know, it might be mine." Toby finished, "What, I liked that hat."
"OK, anyway, about last night." Lisa started saying.
"Oh, was there a problem?" Paige asked.
"No, no um problem at all. It was amazing. First, your voice is spectacular. You could sing professionally; seriously." Lisa told Paige.
"Thank you, but no. At one point in my life, I wanted to try to sing when I was younger, but not anymore. I like being around this guy too much." Paige said looking at Walter.
"I definitely can't blame you there." Lisa said gazing at Walter as Happy gave Paige the 'What the F' face to which Paige gave the 'I know, I'm right here bitch' face. Walter was oblivious to everything, and Toby just smiled taking it all in. He was waiting to see how this unfolded.
"About last night?" Paige said wanting to get the conversation back on track before she needed to pummel someone.
"Hold on one minute, I need to answer this call real fast, but don't go anywhere. It's been like this all morning." Lisa said as she got up to take a call. "I'll be right back Walter."
"She knows you just got married, right?" Happy said to Paige as Walter was still oblivious to it all.
"I know, right." Paige responded.
"What are you two talking about?" Walter asked as Toby started to laugh not being able to control it any more. "Of course she knows we just got married, she was the wedding coordinator."
"She is flirting with you again and she's about to get a serious beatdown." Paige told him half kidding.
"Count me in, I haven't helped in a good beatdown in a minute." Happy added on.
A few minutes later after Paige and Happy were both somewhat calmer, Lisa emerged again after getting off the phone.
"So last night, karaoke on the beach, we have a proposition for you." Lisa said looking right at Walter.
"A proposition for who exactly?" Walter asked trusting Paige and Happy and what they were saying.
"You..., I mean not just you that would be crazy; right?" Lisa said with a laugh, trying to keep from blushing. "I mean for all of your party. Four suites, full week stay; for all of you."
"I don't understand what it is exactly you are saying." Walter said to her starting to feel a little uncomfortable. He looked towards Paige to make sure he was responding properly.
"Last night was amazing, the atmosphere here was crazy. We have had thirty bookings this morning from people who were here at your reception, make that 31, that want to come back next year for the second annual Scorpion Karmaraoke extravaganza shindig or whatever you guys want to call it. Hotels on the island need to set themselves apart from all of the other hotels. Last night confirmed to us we need to do something big for the fourth from now on. Most of our guests are American so having fireworks was our big draw, but what happened yesterday was so much bigger than we could have imagined. Our restaurants and bars sold over three times more than what they did last year on the fourth."
"So why do you need us here?" Walter asked.
"We don't, honestly, but we thought since you guys were kind of responsible for it, wow 32 now, we would like to offer something in return for you. As a way of saying thanks. We hope you guys would be willing to do some songs again, and of course emcee the whole thing, I'll even throw in a new hat if I need to. Or maybe we could do a duet together Walter, just me and y..." Lisa started to say.
"Alright." Paige said as she stood from her seat not being able to take another word from her, Toby and Happy both grabbed her and sat her back down before she strangled Lisa. Paige was ready to start the beatdown, and it wasn't going to be pretty. Lisa jumped back as it was happening.
"Before we agree to anything, I would need to discuss this with my beautiful wife, Paige, and all our friends. We would also need to see if the company that me and my wife, Paige, own together would be able to shut down for a week while we were here on what would be our one year wedding anniversary between just me and Paige." Walter told her emphasizing her name each time.
"Got it, sorry." Lisa said. "You can just get back to me before you leave. Sorry."
Lisa got up from the table and scurried away as quickly as she could while Paige glared at her as she left.
"I thought mama bear was protective, married mama bear might be a stone cold killer." Toby said.
"I can cut the brakes on her car, no questions asked." Happy stated causing Paige to laugh. "No one will ever know what happened."
"Now do you believe me that she was flirting with you before?" Paige asked Walter. "Thank you for setting her straight by the way. Happy, I'll get back to you on that a little later."
"Just to be clear, we're not going to turn down a free week stay in Tahiti for a little flirting, are we?" Toby asked. "I mean seriously."
"Hell no." Paige said.
"I think if we play this right, we could get free airfare too." Walter said surprising everyone.
"If you're proposing to lead her on…." Toby started.
"What, no, of course not. Paige, I, that's not what I meant." Walter put out there right away. "Paige I would never."
"I know Walter. Tell us what you meant, so Toby can get his head out of the gutter." Paige said holding Walter's hand.
"I meant, Toby, if Happy and Paige went in there to talk to her and acted um a little or um maybe a lot put off by her, they could probably persuade her to throw in the airfare as well." Walter told them.
"I like this Tahiti Walter. He dances, he sings, he's super sexy…" Paige started saying.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Toby said bringing a smile to everyone's face. "We get it."
Five minutes later the girls were back at the table.
"No luck, huh?" Toby said. "Maybe we should reconsider the leading her on approach."
"Four suites on the top floor." Paige started out saying.
"Check." Happy finished.
"Seven days, seven nights."
"Check."
"All drinks and meals included."
"Check."
"Airfare. For up to ten."
"Check, business class please."
"Rental cars."
"Four Jeeps, Check."
Paige and Happy high fived.
"Are you guys serious?"
"Oh, she folded. I think she shit her pants when we first walked in. Paige probably could have gotten us a helicopter and a yacht for the week if we needed it." Happy proudly told them.
"We can get that for next time." Toby said. "You know, for marryoke take 3."
"She did apologize to me. She said she had never been so moved by someone's vows and she got carried away. She said she would turn in her resignation if I asked her to. Which I did not. Besides she wasn't wrong. Your vows were perfect." Paige said as she was dreamily looking at Walter.
"Damn straight they were." Happy said with a wink at Walter. "Hey, I can say it, I was married to him before, right Walt."
"Whatever Happy." Walter said.
"You sure are taking this all well Toby." Paige added. "I'm impressed."
"Hell, I was ready to jump in bed with the man." Toby said causing both Paige and Happy to spit out their water. "And he is not my type."
"Wait, you said she gave you up to ten tickets. There are only eight of us." Walter realized.
"Fifty bucks honey, she's preg… oww." Toby started saying catching yet another elbow to a kidney. At some point the man was going to run out of functioning kidneys.
"Toby, for the last time, I am not pregnant. We thought maybe Sly would have a lady friend again by next year, or you and your wife may hopefully have adopted a child by then, besides children under two can fly for free, so even if I was pregnant, it wouldn't be an issue next year." Paige said smiling at Walter raising her eyebrows ever so slightly to say she would be fine with that.
"Hey, Ralph may have a lady friend or two next year too, you see those little chickadees running after him while he was deejaying. The kid has skills. And don't think I didn't see that little, you know what you did just then. Damnit, I need to stop doing that." Toby said knowing a kidney shot was soon to follow.
"Ralph will not be allowed to date any chickadees until he is twenty one." Paige said with a smile. "And when, I mean, if I do get pregnant, Toby, you will be one of the first to know."
After Toby and Happy left to take a walk along the beach, it was just Walter and Paige left.
"Walter?"
"Yes, honey." Walter said with a smile thinking back to karaoke last night.
"I want a baby." Paige told him while nodding her head sideways at first because of the way he addressed her before realizing it was from them singing.
"OK, where do we get them, I don't see them on the menu?" Walter said back to her as he checked both sides of the menu.
"Walter O'Brien!" Paige admonished him.
"I was kidding Paige. A baby, we um haven't really talked about that have we."
"No, we haven't, and I know we will need to. And I know you will also need to process everything too." She told him while placing her hand on top of his. "I just want to get that out there."
"Paige, I'm ready." Walter told her matter of factly.
"Oh. Okay, you're ready to discuss it now, like right now, or when we get back from, ughh, wherever we are getting ready to go to tomorrow." Paige said pretending to be put off.
"Neither." Walter told her setting down his menu. "I mean I am ready to have a baby. Well not me have a baby, but for us, for us to have a baby." He finished putting his other hand on top of hers too.
"Do you mean it?" Paige asked as her eyes started to fill with tears.
"Yes, I do. I told you when we got back together, I wanted all of this, with you. To marry you, adopt Ralph, have children; all with you, Paige. Nobody else. I couldn't ever do any of this with anyone else." Walter told her as he pulled her hands up to his mouth to kiss them.
"Oh my gosh, Walter. You, I love you so much." Paige told him before getting up to give him another hug. Mmmm she loved this man.
"I'm scared. About having children, I mean." Walter told her truthfully.
"I am too." Paige said back to him. "But Walter, the rewards far outweigh it all, a million times more."
"That's why I can only do this with you. You understand me Paige. Nobody else does, not like you do. You know when to push a-and when to pull. When to let me have extra time to think and when you need to just kick my ass for taking too much time. Nobody else has ever understood me like that. Not even Megan."
"Walter, you are so sweet. You mean absolutely everything to me. I never thought I would say that about anyone other than Ralph. But I just love you so much."
"Paige, you have shown every one of us how amazing you are as a mother to Ralph, it would be a shame to only be able to do that one time. You are going to have to help me with a lot of things when it comes to raising a child. A lot of things." Walter said with a smile. "I want to do this with you."
"Getting to raise a child with you is going to make me so happy." Paige told him.
"Do you think Ralph will be okay with this?" Walter asked. "I don't want him to get upset about this."
"I think he will be perfectly fine with this. He knows how much you love him Walter. You don't have to worry about anything with him. Even before you adopted him, he already considered you his dad. You two will always have such an amazing bond that could never be broken. Not many people ever get to be someone's best friend before they get to be their father. You were his first friend too." Paige told him as she started shedding a few tears.
Walter held Paige close in his arms for several minutes. Just holding her and whispering words of love into her ears. Exactly what she needed at the moment.
"Walter, your relationship with our son will always be so special to him, and nothing you ever do will diminish that. Having a baby together won't change anything between the two of you." She reaffirmed to him.
"Thank you, that's what I needed to hear." Walter let her know.
"So, um, do you wanna start trying right um now." Paige asked him as she raised her eyebrows hopeful for a yes.
"Does this fall under the me keeping it up all week challenge?" Walter asked before kissing her.
"Oh, my poor little hubby. This is going to take much more time than a week. I'm thinking months." Paige told him taking breaks to kiss him after every sentence.
"Don't challenge a genius, Paige." Walter playfully reminded her.
Walter wasn't complaining, he led his wife back to their suite and spent some quality baby making time together with her.
They re-emerged around noon to find Ralph and spend the rest of the day with their son before they flew off to wherever it was that Walter had planned for her.
"You know I can make it worth your while if you tell me where we are going tomorrow?" Paige tried one more time to find out where her honeymoon was going to be spent.
"You are already making it worth my while." Walter responded to her before Ralph met them for lunch at the resort café.
"Hey sweetie." Paige said to Ralph as he yawned before sitting down at the table. "Did you get enough sleep last night?"
"Hey mom, hey W.. dad." Ralph said with a big smile, only to be outdone by the smile that quickly grew on his dad's face. "Yeah I slept really good."
"Hey son." Walter proudly stated back to him, much to the delight of his radiant wife.
They ate lunch together before taking off to go snorkeling again in one of the more secluded coves on the island. Ralph chose this activity to do first with his parents. After snorkeling, they found a water park right next to the ocean and the three of them had fun going down slides for the next couple of hours. After stopping to get Ralph his first ice cream of the day, they next found a bicycle built for three to ride along the sidewalk overlooking the ocean. Pizza and some more ice cream a little later was followed by a thirty foot jump off of a cliff into an ocean cove. Paige was the first one to take the leap and after she went there was no way either one of them wasn't going to, especially after they bumped into Toby and Happy who stayed to make sure they jumped.
"You're lucky you jumped Walt, or I would have started to have to call you Whitney like all the karaoke crew did."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Happy asked, "It better not be an attempt to say girls are too scared to jump, because as I recall, Paige jumped in before either one of them did."
"I'm teasing the guy. I know you are tougher than me. You know what would have been funny though. Instead of calling Walter Whitney, what if they knew Dolly Parton sang that song first. Could you image calling him Dolly. That would have been hilarious." Toby said laughing as Walter turned to plead with Paige not to say anything.
"I um might need a little hint as to where our flight is heading tomorrow, if you know what I mean." Paige whispered to him not letting anyone else know. She may have finally found a way to get a clue of where she was going.
Walter nodded in agreement, relieved not to be called Dolly. "Fine, but not a word to anyone about this." He whispered to his wife.
"I now know who Whitney Houston is, but who is this Dolly Parton?" Walter asked trying to play it off as Paige snickered behind him.
"Don't give Toby any ideas." She again whispered to only him.
"Forget it 197, Whitney was funny enough yesterday. Dolly might be too much, even for me. You guys gonna be back for dinner at the resort, or maybe just a late night snack as a group?" Toby asked.
"I think a snack sounds good. Spending a few more hours with these two sounds too good to pass up." Paige told them.
"We can tell everyone about Marryoke take 2 tonight." Toby said to nods from Happy, Paige and Walter.
Thirty minutes later they bumped into Sly, Cabe and Allie as they were coming out of one of the many souvenir shops along the beach. They told them to meet up at 9:30 at the resort for a late night snack and there would be some news to share as well.
Cabe asked if Ralph wanted to stay with them for a little, but this time he chose to stay with his mom and dad instead. Some tacos and another ice cream later and they were done eating. Ralph loved ice cream and Walter and Paige were going to let him have as much of it as he wanted today.
Sunday night they all arrived around 9:30 on the back seating area of the resort. They laughed and cried going over all the exploits of the week. One story funnier than the next. Paige and Happy told everyone about the offer the resort gave them to come back again next year for another week to do it all over again, and they all of course said yes.
"Hey Cabe, maybe next year you can be the one getting married." Toby said causing Cabe to turn bright red. "You know make it be a senior citizen theme next time."
"Son, there's enough sand here to fill even your big fat mouth, especially if I bury you hat first." Cabe warned him causing everyone but Toby to laugh.
By 11:00 they all decided to call it a night. They would meet up tomorrow morning at 9:00 for breakfast before everyone else flew back to Los Angeles. Ralph laid his head down on his pillow at 11:10 and was out cold by 11:11. His ice cream induced sugar high added to all the activities he got to do with his parents was more than enough to wear him out. He slept peacefully dreaming about finally having the family he wanted with his mom and Wal.. dad since shortly after he met him.
"So, when do I get my hint, or I am gonna have to let Toby know Dolly is now fair game." Paige asked Walter as they snuggled together on the couch before they went to bed.
"You wouldn't." Walter started out saying just to see how far this was going to go.
"You willing to take that chance? Dolly? Wait Dolly O'Brien." Paige said before snorting and not being able to stop herself from laughing. "That sounds almost too good. Dolly O'Brien."
"Fine, please don't ever say that again." Walter told her with a smile realizing how bad that would be. "I think there may have been a Dolly O'Brien in the family tree."
"Spill it mister, a real hint, and not some nonsense that I would need a genius to figure out."
"First of all, you are smarter in ways than any of us geniuses could ever dream of being. Second, you have me, so any nonsense you need figured out by a genius, that's my job. And third, knowing where our first flight lands will in no way help you know where we are going tomorrow to start our honeymoon." Walter told her with a smile.
"Well then genius, figure this out. You want unlimited access to this," Paige said while moving her hand up and down over her whole body. "I need a good hint, a really good hint." She finished as she started to inch her way up Walter's neck with kisses.
"Mmmm, P-Paige. You can't expect me to remember uh an-anything when you are doing that." Walter told her as he turned her body closer so he could have better access to her as he kissed her on the lips.
"I'll kiss you all night long if you want, but that's all you will get from me without a hint Walter." Paige told him as she continued to kiss him.
"A hint about what exactly?" Walter asked, not remembering what they were talking about minutes earlier.
"God, you are so easy. I want to know where we are going." Paige told him pulling her lips away from him as she knitted her brows.
"Fine." Walter said finally giving in. "Let me catch my breath first."
Paige looked at him as he took some breaths and as his gaze met hers again there was only one thing on her mind again. Those damn eyes of his did it to her again. Maybe she was the easy one.
Walter spent the next several hours with the woman he loved more than anything showing her just how much she meant to him. Both of them fell asleep wrapped up with each other and slept peacefully through the little bit of night that was left.
Walter being the stand-up guy that he was told her part of the honeymoon itinerary even after he made Paige forget she asked about it in the first place. He couldn't chance being called Dolly, even on a technicality.
Their week in paradise was now over. They all headed to the airport to catch their flight, only to be surprised once again by Walter as two of Richard Elia's private jets were waiting for them. One headed back to California for Toby, Happy, Sly, Cabe, Allie and Ralph; and the other technically flying over California but not stopping until it got to New York.
"You know, New York would have been an amazing place for our honeymoon. When you told me we were flying there I got really excited." Paige told him.
"Sorry Paige. But I promise you won't be disappointed with my plans."
"Oh Walter, no, no. I'm not disappointed, not in the least. Anywhere we go is perfect with me. I just hope you didn't do anything crazy. Well crazier than you already have. I mean flying like this is unreal. We are going to have to seriously do something really nice for Richard. For him to fly a second jet down to Tahiti just so we could fly by ourselves over California was too much."
"That's what I told him too. He demanded that we do it this way."
The twelve hour flight gave them a chance to relax and catch up on some much needed sleep. They both slept soundly next to one another without making so much as a peep for a good eight hours. Both completely content to be snuggled up with the love of their life.
